NYU Game Center librarian Andy Sebela has curated an event, Câest La Videogame.  The exhibit explores if and how life can be effectively captured in a play experience and aims to define what games can say about the basic elements of our existence.
There will be several games available for play, as well as looping projections of video game births, a weird amount of Tamagotchis, and the general contemplation of existential themes by everyone who attends.  Oh yeah, and Seaman.
Gamers in NYC: stop by NYU tomorrow evening for a public exhibition of Games & Life, including both Conway's Game of Life and MIlton Bradley's The Game of LIFE in a head to head showdown.
Sounds in Space
We are developing Sounds In Space, a rap combat game (currently only for the iOS) using Indiegogo for crowdsourcing. While we have the initial money for the basic version of the game done, we are hoping to raise more to counterbalance upfront fees and so we can add more content to the game and add more devices. On the team we have nerdcore rapper Adam WarRock, Harmonix and comics veteran Erica Henderson along with  a few other up and coming creators who are united by a desire to make a different type of mobile game.

Last night we had a great turnout for our opening reception and Queen West game art crawl here in Toronto last night. Visitors followed Team Vector curators from Interaccess (Other Worlds Exhibition) to Propeller (net.works Exhibition), and finally onto Bento Miso for the Ludacy Exhibition....

A little context: there is a designer named Keita Takahashi. He makes incredibly fun things, like Katamari Damacy.
He hasn't made an incredibly fun thing (outside of a few small incredibly fun things) since Noby Noby Boy. So the news of this new incredibly fun thing is incredibly exciting (especially since Tumblr gets to be a part of its debut next month).

The boys from Team Snakessss pulled it off in record time! The final prototype of CRUMBLE looks great, and the team is rightfully proud.
They had originally planned for two game modes: a vertically scrolling environment and a crawling "twitch adventure" mode. While the team hopes to work on another iteration with both modes, for now the judges will be evaluating a prototype of the "twitch adventure" mode, in which users must navigate a maze of obstacles by shedding pieces of their block-shaped avatar in order to grow bullet-shooting flowers.

MICRO MEDIC's final prototype is aesthetically polished and ready for the judges.
A nice contextual paragraph opens the game, setting the scene and preparing gamers for a thrilling adventure in the human bloodstream. When gameplay begins, bacteria swarm the microrobot. Colored antidotes are used for defense, but after continued play the bacteria gain immunity from an antidote. (This is shown by color; red bullets cannot kill red bacteria, etc.) The bacteria don't adapt in any other way, but the team hopes to add more nuance to their behavior in a future iteration.
Game aesthetics came together nicely. It feels a little bit like a living, breathing biology diagram. But, you know... fun.

The latest prototype from Team Snakesss is adorned with gold and maroon graphics during gameplay, which are inverted to pink and white when the block's core hits an obstacle.
The color palette is warm, sophisticated and modern, like an Italian living room or a rustic peanut butter and jelly sandwich:

Final user interface designs for the Hermit Crab in Space prototype -- the goal here is to give the player a good indication of what they should be doing while still staying within the world of the game.
Team Snakessss composed CRUMBLE's main theme using sounds from the OP-1 synthesizer, remixed in Ableton Live. It's dark, atmospheric and brilliantly suspenseful.
