Game Changers Big Bang Rules & FAQ
What is the Game Changers Big Bang?
Itâs a collaborative event where writers, betas, and artists are paired up and work on a unique fic/art piece. This event will focus on creating content from any of the Game Changers series media, whether that is the books or the show, and can focus on any of the characters or ships found in the series.
Interest forms will open July 1st, and the actual sign up forms will open August 1st! The forms will be linked on our blog and here once open. You can find the general calendar here.
Due to the explicit nature of the source material we will not be allowing minors to participate in this event. In the sign up form you will be asked to confirm that you are over 18, and participants who have been found to have violated this rule will be banned from this and all future events run by our team.
Can I sign up for more than one position?
Yes! You can sign up for however many positions you feel comfortable with.
How do the sign up applications work?
Upon the completion of your sign up, the mods will review your form and dm you a sign up link through Tumblr, so please make sure you are following us so that we can message you! Donât let this discourage you from signing up - this is not a judgement on quality, merely a way for us to help keep track of who is participating.
I have never participated in a bang before, and I have absolutely no clue what to expect.
Thatâs totally understandable, and weâre happy youâre considering our event! In 2021 mod Cai helped write a guide to big bangs for beginners for @podcastbigbang, which you can find here. Give it a read, it may help answer a lot of your questions!
Are there required platforms for this event?
Yes, we are requiring both a Tumblr account and a Discord. All communication occurs through the event's Discord server, and we will need your Tumblr to dm you a server link and so you can post your content.
If I want to participate as a writer, how much do I have to write?
The minimum word count for both oneshots and multichaptered fics is 10k.
Is there anything Iâm not allowed to write?
In order to keep the focus on celebrating the Game Changers series we will not allow fandom crossovers, RPF fic, or x reader fic. Use of AI will result in an immediate removal from the event. While we do not have content restrictions beyond that, we do expect all Ao3 warnings and kinks to be appropriately tagged and mentioned in the synopsis form. While you are more than welcome to create more niche topics like dead dove or rarepairs, it is important to note that the mods will not facilitate adding members to your team if no artist or beta claims it.
Does my fic concept have to be a secret?
Nope! We not only don't care if you have publicly discussed your fic concept before, we encourage you to share any updates you want publicly throughout the event and help up drum up excitement for posting!
Can I come in with a WIP or plan to write a sequel to another fic?
You can absolutely come in with some, or even all, of your fic already written, but it must not be published anywhere. If any part of the fic has been officially published it cannot be used for this event (sharing excerpts on social media is perfectly fine). While you can write a sequel or continuation of a previously published fic, your fic for this event must also be able to stand on its own, ie all relevent plot or character details from previous works should be able to be understood in this work without your team needing to read an entirely different fic first.
What is the multichap post by date?
As you may have noticed in our schedule, March 31st is listed as the date all multichapter fics must be finished posting by. You will be free to post on whatever schedule you want within the time frame between your first posting date and the multichap post by date, but your fic must be fully posted on AO3 by that date. If you do not finish posting by then, you risk being unable to participate in future events.
What if I have a beta and/or artist I normally work with?
In our sign up form, there will be a place for betas and artists to say that they have a pre-established agreement to work with a certain writer! To ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to work on fics, we are only allowing writers to join with a maximum of one artist and one beta pre-established.
What do I need to prepare for my synopsis/What info will be available for each fic at claiming?
Each fic will have a working title, the author(s), genre, AO3 rating, trigger warnings, pairings, word count, artist specifics, and beta specifics. There will also be a short plot summary and a 100-300 word excerpt.
What type of art can I make?
We accept any type of art, whether thatâs traditional or digital art, edits, moodboards, playlists, title cards, podfics, and more! If you are creating podfics or traditional/digital art, you are only required to make one piece of art per fic. However, if you are making edits, playlists, or moodboards, we are going to require that you make a minimum of two pieces per fic for the fics youâre making edits/playlists/moodboards for.
Are there any requirements to be a beta?
Not really! Just try your best, be helpful, donât be a jerk to your writer. Donât underestimate the power of a cheerleader! If you want a sort of betaing guide, @shelbychild made one for another bang, linked here.
Where can I see/read the fics/art?
We will start reblogging everyoneâs final works onto this blog at the end of the bang! Everyone will be assigned a posting day and a collection will be made on the official Ao3 Big Bang collection.
