A Chivalrous Explorer, a Fierce Combatant

Dana uses her one hand to rub at her eye while her other hand picks up a snack to eat. It tastes really good and she looks up at Galahad with them big ol eyes. 

          ❝ I know where my mom keeps ‘em. Sometimes she has to hide ‘em ‘cause I really like eatin’ ‘em. I like the pizza ones. But I want’cha to eat the normal ones first so you can taste ‘em the best. It’s like sushi. Ya gotta eat the original one first. Sashimi. I really like sashimi, ❞ she babbled on. 

          Dana was pretty shocked when she heard this, but she really shouldn’t be considering Pokemon really did not eat people food unless their trainer gave it to them. Galahad probably never had some because nobody gave them to him. But Dana was determined to change that.            ❝ Do you want some? I got some at home. ❞ 

          ❝ There’s a Pelipper my mom likes. His name’s Pepper’n he’s always comin’ ‘round the house to eat food. And he eats my Pringles. I don’t want that stupid bird to eat my Pringles, ❞ the child muttered, annoyed that Pepper would take her food.           Dana hated sharing, especially if it was food. That was the worst thing of all to share. Dana shared with her own Pokemon, but any other Pokemon it was hard to share with unless Dana was feeling really generous. 

          Dana had forgotten he wanted to be her bodyguard. Her Hydreigon were body guards too, but she needed all the help she could get considering she was a huge trouble maker.            ❝ I really need that. Momma said’m kinda gonna in trouble one’a these days if I keep it up with the bullshit. ❞ Dana smiled up at him and flapped her hands happily.

          The closer they got to the house the stronger the smell of something cooking. Her mom was probably making lunch. Dana tilted her head to the side and closed her eyes.            ❝ Yeah my mom keeps feed’in em. There’s too many’n they try takin’ my headband. Pelippers are scary cause they’re so damn big, ❞ she explained, putting her head forward again and opening her eyes.

          With a little head tilt, the little girl surveyed her surroundings. This looked like the right way. That was the right path. So they were nearby. It would not be too far off now.           ❝ We’re very close. See the path? I know where’ta go now. It’s up the hill. I live on’a cliff overlookin’ the sea. ❞ 

         Dana’s snake eyed expression disappeared and turned to a blank one. The child was always being left to do her own thing, which suited her quite nicely.           ❝ That’s good. I don’ like when people start tellin’ me what’a do. ❞

          Dana squinted a bit at the mere suggestion of taking a nap. Naps were loathed and Dana would never be caught dead taking a nap, which like a sudden death sentence to any fun being had before said nap took place. It was not fair.           ❝ No thanks. ‘M not takin’ no god damn nap. ❞

         ❝I can try my best. My momma says if I try my best, that’s good enough.❞ Dana believed in those words, which were said by an adults. Though she knew adults could be filthy lying hypocrites at times.            ❝I get angry an awful lot. ‘Cause’m a little kid. ‘Nd I get angry when I gotta take a nap…”M a big kid I don’ need’a nap,❞ complained the child, unknowingly changing the subject and making it about naps. Oh well.           ❝Do you take naps too?❞

this is just something i noticed, and it might not be anything. but i really hope that this was intentional on nintendo’s part, because it’s an adorable little addition to the game!

“Mom says lot’s’a people’re strong in their own way. Cause they’re tryin’ they’re best. It’s the best thing ever. You’re probably strong in lot’s’a battles and you’re super duper smart,” the child gushed. It was clear he was probably inspiring for her, but she didn’t know that yet.      “I wanna be strong just like you.”

     Dana nodded and continued to walk down the path with him. Dirt sprung up when she stepped a little harder. And every time a rock came in her path, she made sure to swing her foot at it. Some of the rocks didn’t come into contact with her now dusty shows, but some did. They didn’t go very far.      “Are you strong too?”

 “You don’ have’ta worry ‘bout me. I can battle people and not get hurt. I’m really strong,” was the irritable response. For some reason, Dana hated when people got overprotective of her, though it just meant that they cared a lot about her. Still, she thought, there was no reason for her to need protection if she had her Pokemon with her at all times. It was because she was a child that they acted like this, and Dana hated it with her entire being. It never occurred to her that they did it because she was still a child, and therefore not ready to really be able to defend herself should things go south.      “’M fine, okay?”

“Darn it. I knew I should’a got the GPS out. Oh well,” she shrugged her shoulders as though getting lost while going home wasn’t such a big deal. To her it wasn’t, though some adults would probably not like the idea of a young child being out on her own. Fortunately, Alola wasn’t as dangerous as some of the bigger cities such as Black City or Lumios in Kalos. Dana frequented Lumios and even ventured into the alley ways, but the trainers were no match for her. Dana could prove herself as many times as she wanted, but adults were still going to fear for her safety.      “It won’t. I always go this way. Sometimes trainers try to battle me, but it doesn’t take me very long.”

 “I could be th’greatest trainer? You think so?” Dana rocked back and forth again on her heels, her face tilted up slightly in a smug look. Dana often got smug, which was her downfall. But she never put down others. That was crossing the line.       “Mom shouldn’t worry ‘bout me. I’m not gonna get hurt. Yeah, ah’know she cares, but I ain’t gonna get beat anytime soon by anybody in’a battle. Y’know?” The child opened her eyes, staring off to the side of Gallade. When he began to walk, she followed him without thinking. When he suddenly stopped, she bumped into him. Stepping back, she said:      “My house is ova’ there. Way, way down there,” she said, pointing in the direction she now faced.
