When September and October are nearing and you’re planning an event: google “Rosh Hashanah *year*” and *Yom Kippur *year*” and then, and I cannot stress this enough, don’t plan your event on those days. In fact, don’t plan any events starting sundown the night before. Those are the three most important days of the Jewish calendar, and, once again, I cannot stress enough how much this little bit of forethought and kindness will make every Jew you know cry tears of joy.
2026 dates:
Rosh Hashanah: begins evening of Friday, September 11th. Ends evening of Sunday, September 13th.
Yom Kippur: begins evening of Sunday, September 20th. Ends evening of Monday, September 21st.
Sukkot: begins evening of Friday, September 25th. Work prohibited through evening of Sunday, September 27th. Holiday goes through the entire week, if scheduling a meeting during lunch, please be aware that observant Jews may need to go to a nearby sukkah (outdoor temporary structure built for the holiday) in order to eat a substantial meal (with bread) and may require extra time for lunch to enable this.
Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah: begins evening of Friday, October 2nd. Ends evening of Sunday, October 4th.
