Since Sullivan is Babylus' principal, there's no way he actually didn't know about flying race that is held every year, and it's weird that such a doting grandfather sent his darling grandson to certain death.
He also didn't seem surprised at all when Iruma got the ring of Gluttony. Moreover, his dialog with Poro during the Music Festival arc was kinda suspicious.
All this makes me wonder: did Iruma’s parents really initiate the transition, or did Sullivan actually go to the Human world specifically to get Iruma for some purpose?
More cues that Sullivan didn't actually care about Iruma at first:
• He literally said he would eat Iruma if he refused the contract (though maybe it was a lie and he was sure Iruma wouldn't contradict him. But does Iruma even know what was written there? Not sure about that)
• Opera noted Sullivan's careless decision to feed Iruma demon food (well, this one can be explained by his experience with Merize, and it's not like he had a choice anyway)
• Talking about Merize, he must have known that humans can't normally live in the Netherworld for too long??
• He acts Like This™ towards literally everyone he considers a child (aka small Opera and Henry when he was a student)
Added:
• Sullivan literally forced Iruma to a) give a speech in front of all students and b) chant a forbidden spell which could make him, like, explode???
So Sullivan either VERY much believed in Iruma or was testing him

Love how everyone reading this cozy comedy manga about friendship and found family's collective reaction to this dude potentially fucking up our MC's good time is
BRO WHAT IS GOING ON !! 😭😭 I really wasn't expecting this, I swear I thought the reveal would happen later but NAW we get a grenade thrown into our hands randomly , I'm soo,,,,
I know the teachers rushing over, but I'm kinda scared what their reaction will be like when they find out Iruma is human. I know Kalego and Balam will protect him anyway cause they already know the truth, but the rest of the teachers being shocked... ahh I'm not ready for all this 😭 I know they gonna protect their treasure tho !! this school shit is serious for them
in other news that escaped me for a few minutes because of the Forced Deportation Arc,,
I think this is the most androgynous Shiida has ever looked and I'm so into that actually,,;;
I know I've been talking about how damn nice the Marbas clan people seem to be despite being torturers, but then they busted out actual torture on a kid.
(Torture arts being taught at school is a funny gag when it's just funny comedy manga, but it does get a lot less funny when we start talking stuff like secret police and actual fascism in politics etc. Ditto all that war everywhere - who are they fighting in open battlefields? The terrorists and their goals seem clear, but what's with the wars? Is there another nation of demons out there too?)
Also speaking of Jazz - narratively, I've been wondering this for a while:
Why are all the lessons being taught to Jazz to do with how he can not be trusting or depending on adults? This doesn't seem to be a thing being taught to any of the other kids - in fact with Iruma, multiple adults have talked to him about not doing things on his own but depending on the adults around him.
But with Jazz - we seem to come down to this lesson again and again and again. Despite him genuinely seeming like a sweet kid who just wants to be able to depend on adults. Even his big ambition and central personality trait (which affects the kind of familiar he has AND the kind of team he got assigned) is to be a dependable older brother to others younger than him, and this seems to stem entirely from not ever having anyone like that that he could/can depend on.
With General Furfur, clearly the Dorodoro brothers show that he does know how to be a dependable mentor, despite his love of booze and gambling etc. So much so, that the way the brothers describe him makes everyone think they're talking about Balam sensei!
But instead he chooses to mentor Jazz and Allocer in that specific way - where they are basically learning by being constantly ragebaited and having to try and trick and get one over him.
Why?
Despite having the same master, at least Allocer does seem to have a dependable Furcas-sensei as a mentor as well, and his home life seems okay too.
Meanwhile, Jazz's brother is a piece of shit, his parents seem to not exist or be involved with him, and all of the lessons / focus arcs he is getting are: 'depend only on yourself and maybe your other friends in the misfit class, adults will only cheat you or use you for entertainment'.
Why? Where is this going? The adults in this series are generally trying their best and dependable, why have they decided that this is the lesson that Jazz needs to be learning? This just seems like an odd choice overall.
Is his family / the Andro clan going to turn out to be so much more terrible that it makes his brother look like the best guy in the world or something? And the adults are hoping Jazz will eventually change it all up / reform it all?

I genuinely like Ameri and Iruma as a ship and I can see how they will most likely end up together romantically. But, honestly with how their relationship is going, I am scared of how they will be written.
I'm sure that many people here will agree with me when I say that something that is very frustrating to see with canon couples in media (ESPECIALLY in non-romance centered shows) is when a couple is obviously written to end up together. BUT because that was already decided by the author, there is:
- a lack of emotional development or character development between the involved characters; AND/OR
- an accidental tendency to write one of the characters (notably the mc) having a deeper, emotional bond with someone who is not their love interest
Now, do I love the soulmate trio as a canon, romantic, polycule ship? Yes, of course I do. I'm a multishipper.
HOWEVER, unless I am wrong with the direction Nishi-sensei wants to take, Iruma and Ameri seem like the most likely to end up together romantically. This is where my fear comes in.
Iruma has already established such a deep, profounding love with Clara and Alice to the point that afaik, they all genuinely confessed their love to each other as soulmates. All of the scenes the three of them have with each other, whether as a trio or as separate pairings, feel very emotionally charged to me. Especially in the recent chapter as of now wherein
SPOILER ALERT!! Iruma asked them to fulfill their promise after being taken away for being a human.
To me, that was such an emotional scene for all three of them. Not to mention all the many arcs of them playing together, talking to each other, and all of that.
Now, onto Aruma. Obviously, the pair have their own special scenes together. It is obvious that they are the slowburn type of romance (especially due to Iruma's lack of actual romantic experience/conscious ignorance as was proven by the Phantom Thief(?) arc). And while all of the scenes they have together have their own charms, I think the pacing of the story + the Ameru scenes being mixed with scenes of Soulmate Trio makes it harder to truly root for the couple plot-wise.
Honestly, I think I just want Nishi-sensei to have a few more scenes where Iruma truly thinks over his love for Clara and Alice vs his love for Ameri. Because let's be real, he very much looks up (literally lol) to her and she has helped with his sense of ambition and vice versa.
At the same time, if written right, it could make for a great conversation on the different types of love and what truly makes them different OR how we view the "hierarchy of love" because let's be honest, the whole reason I am even writing this rant in the first place is because of a preconceived notion I personally have/grew up with that romantic love should triumph over platonic or even familial love in terms of depth and understanding. How can one compare the skip of a heartbeat vs the warmth felt by comfortability?
I think it would also be very interesting if, somehow some confession between Ameri and Iruma happen, they truly just go through the awkward-dating-courtin-phaseTM and THATS where they understand what romance ACTUALLY means. Though, I'm not sure how feasible that is considering what is currently happening in the manga.
Oh and on a side note, I think if done right, Ameri and Iruma being a couple can also end up as great character development for the both of them. Because Iruma might be innocent to *experiencing* love and romance and maybe even more risqué stuff (which honestly if they somehow write conversations about that into the series I would be thrilled). But Iruma knows what romance (and even arguably eroticism) may look (thanks Lied) and how it may feel (thanks Kalego's Lilith's Carpet). And Ameri can learn even more what romance actually means/feels like outside of just desire and the forbidden books. As well as the impacts of what their feelings may cause because, again SPOILER! half-human x human ship may cause a lot of implications in the netherworld.
Aruma feels like they are on such a thin tightrope where a slip in writing can end up with them falling into the same pile of "canon too fast" couples we see all the time. However, if Nishi somehow adds more scenes to their development in a way that the pacing of their relationship can actually start to make me excited again for their development + it matches the same level of depth I see between Iruma Clara and Alice, I think their relationship might end up being one of the best shounen couples in a while.
To be honest, whether or not the main ships right now (Aruma vs Soulmate Trio) become canon or not, I sincerely hope that any relationship development does not end up lackluster.
TLDR: bro give me more scenes of ameri and iruma I miss them. she needs to go after him. they need to be on equal ground. ALL of them need to be on equal ground. I want more crumbs of aruma so they end up like the gingerbread house that is Soulmate Trio
PS: it would be lowk funnier if somehow this just ends up being a she falls first, he falls harder trope.
