Gilbern Invader (1969-74) Engine 2994 cc V6 OHV Registration Number GDD 311 L (Gloucestershire) GIBERN ALBUM www.flickr.com/photos/45676495@N05/albums/72157623665194927 Introduced in 1969 and based on the earlier Gilbern Gennie with improved chassis and uprated brakes. Power came from the MG C unit and the car featured luxury items such as electric windows, and a walnut veneer dash. Available as a complete car and joined in 1970 by an Estate version. A Mark II model was launched in October 1971 at the London Motor Show which was similar to the original 1969 model but with new reclining front seats. From 1970 an estate version was also produced, though production was limited to 68 estates In 1972 the Mark 3 specification introduced Ford Cortina front suspension and revised front and rear styling, and enhanced performance from the the higher tune unit 0f the Ford Capri 3000GT. The body mouldings were both wider and lower the track was extended by four inches resulting in the addition of wheel arch spats and the rear suspension was updated adjustable shocks were also fitted all around.
