1968. Claudia Cardinale is captured during a visit to the historic Alhambra palace complex in Granada, Spain.

The photo was taken by Gianni Ferrari.

Claudia Cardinale came to Spain in 1968 as part of a promotional tour and to film Sergio Leone's cult western "Once upon a Time in the Wild West" (where she played the female lead role of Jill McBain). Part of the full-scale filming of the film took place in the Spanish province of Granada.

During a break in the filming schedule, the actress visited the famous Alhambra palace complex, where photographer Gianni Ferrari conducted a large-scale photo shoot for her. Subsequently, the pictures from this series, in which Cardinale poses in a short summer dress and high Roman gladiator sandals, became iconic and consolidated this shoe style as the main fashion trend of the late 1960s.
