Unrequited love is this bittersweet tragedy. How the heart just wants something it can never have. Like how a tree bows down to the roaring winds. How the tree breaks down before it. How it gives everything to the wind. How it says “Take everything for I will love you always,”. Yet the wind whispers back after the storm. And the wind says sorrowfully “I’m so sorry I can never love you in this way. But I am forever grateful for this,”. And the crestfallen tree still stayed.

Just try it, one more time. Beg me to bring down my walls, to surrender my guard. Then step inside my heart and make a home out of it. Ask me to never let you leave. Make memories to decorate the empty space. Write your name in the silence between gentle whispers. Offer your sturdy hands to hold and arms to rest in. Make me feel like you’d never let any of it go for anything. Then fill me with fumes and strike a match. Watch it all go up in flames. Slit the backs of my hands and rub salt and ash into the wounds. Tell me it’s for my own good. Try to cover up the remnants of red and black as if it never happened.  Then ask me, one more time, if I’ll be okay without you. I dare you.

I think I’m afraid of being happy because whenever I get too happy something bad always happens.

if you don’t love me or feel at least a sliver of affection for me then please, do not look at me like you do. stop acting as if we’re meant to be and i’m the reason your life is a little bit better than it would be if i wasn’t. stop trying to slip your way into my heart only to leave it bruised and beaten if you’re not going to fix it.
