Fakiru Week 2025 @fyeahfakiruweek
Day 5: Geranium | Good Luck
Rue looked out from her spot on the blanket. Ahiru was napping beside her, exhausted from taking her around town and meeting their friends for some fun. Fakir and Mytho had gone to talk to Karon and see how he was going. They had returned and were now enjoying the rest of the day together in the sun.
Fakir was reading a book, gently carding his fingers through Ahiru’s hair. Her braid had come undone and Rue didn’t want to spoil Fakir’s peace right now. She was leaning against Mytho’s chest who in turn was leaning against a tree. They were all enjoying the rest of the afternoon and soaking in the sun before Rue and Mytho had to return to the castle.
The castle. While Rue enjoyed being queen and having her prince, now king, she missed the simpler times. When she was just Rue and not the mother of a nation. She missed being to dance when she wanted and having her friends around rather than her ladies in waiting.
She looked over towards Ahiru, who was still sleeping soundly. She knew Ahiru also missed those days, back before she became Princess Tutu and having to get the shards of Mytho’s heart back to him.
‘If only we were all ordinary people,’ Rue thought to herself. ‘Then we wouldn’t have had to have gone through all that.’
Drosselmayer, in his sick and twisted way, had forced them into their roles, but fate had other plans. He may have thought he could control everyone, but there was something he forgot. That humans, even if they were only actors in a play, had their own thoughts and emotions. Their own hopes and dreams. Just because he, the director, told them to act out in certain ways, it didn’t mean they wanted to do it.
Now, they had broken free and could do what they wanted, without a director or writer telling them what to do or how to act. Rue smiled. This newfound freedom was worth all it. It was then Ahiru’s eyes fluttered open and she rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
“Rue?” she asked. “Why are you smiling?” Fakir and Mytho looked at her too, now curious.
“Indeed,” Mytho said, in a teasing tone. “Why is my dear wife smiling all of a sudden?”
“Nothing,” she said smiling. “I’m just happy we can experience our own lives now. That’s all.” Fakir scoffed.
“Ok we get. Now stop smiling. It’s weird.” Rue plucked some grass and threw it at him. The group broke out in laughter, the conservation carrying naturally as the day wore on. Soon, the sun started to set and the carriage arrived to take Rue and Mytho back to the castle. Fakir and Ahiru saw them off.
Ahiru clinged to Rue, begging her not to leave and to stay a bit longer. Rue gently patted her back and promised that she would come back to visit. Fakir and Mytho watched them with fond expressions on their faces. Suddenly, Ahiru’s head shot up.
“Oh! I almost forgot!” She quickly ran back to the cottage. “Wait here!” Rue watched with a mixture of surprise and amusement. Ahiru was always full of surprises after all. She quickly returned with a flower pot. Inside, there was a beautiful red flower in it.
“I grew this!” Ahiru said excitedly. “It’s called a geranium and it means good luck!” She held the flower pot out to her. Rue gently took the pot from her and smiled.
“It’s beautiful, Ahiru,” she said. Mytho came over and placed his hand on her shoulder. Fakir did the same to Ahiru. “I’ll treasure it.”
They departed soon after that. Rue held the flower pot in her lap and smiled down at it. She would have the gardener back at the palace plant this flower where she could watch it everyday and maybe plant some more in the future. After all, it was a wonderful gift from a friend.
Day 5: Geranium
I went with the meaning of love for this one, very happy with it.
And we're done! I had so much fun drawing all of these, I really wanted to push myself and im very happy with the results. A big thank you to @fyeahfakiruweek for organising this, and hopefully until next year 🩰❤️
Fakiru Week Day 3: Lotus @fyeahfakiruweek A pas de deux from a hypothetical Thumbelina ballet. To fit more with the characters, instead of the fairy prince introduced in the fairy tale’s last few paragraphs, Fakir is some sort of fairy knight who cares for the injured swallow with the Thumbelina Ahiru. Then, the swallow is instead a quail, as it’s Uzura as an Erzgebirge bird. For the week’s floriography theme, I went with “new beginnings” for lotuses and, as yellow ones symbolize openness and hospitality, the species is nelumbo lutea. Then, Ahiru’s outfit is themed around yellow water buttercups, as they grow in ponds, symbolize cheerfulness, charm, humility, etc., and their leaves look like little duck feet. Fakir’s is oak-themed. Music: Prokofiev: Summer Day: III. Waltz

Fakiru Week 2025 @fyeahfakiruweek
Heliotrope | Devotion
Ahiru flew over the forest. She couldn't wait to see Fakir. As she flew over Gold Crown Town, she could see the people going about their daily lives, children running through the streets, students attending classes, everything she once did.
Fakir, with the help of Autor, Rue, and Mytho, had partially freed her from her curse and now like with her amulet, she could transform from a duck into a girl and back again. And now, she could transform without water and even if she quacked, she could stay a human! It was so freeing.
Even now, she had the urge to do many things she did as a duck. She could fly where she wanted and Fakir even encouraged her to do so. She had flown for a few days and was now returning. She couldn't wait to see him again.
She could see the cottage coming into view now. And on the dock, writing his next story, was Fakir. She quacked loudly and he looked up. She circled the pond a few times while he ran inside to get her a clean pair of clothes and a towel. She made her way down as he was returning.
Ahiru landed on the water and made her way over to him. He knelt down and held his free hand out to her. She hopped into it and lifted her out of the water. Fakir wrapped her into the towel as she snuggled into it. He then took her inside the cottage and placed her down on the floor.
“I’ll be outside,” he said. “Get changed and we’ll have lunch.” Ahiru quacked and he smiled at her. He then walked towards the door and closed it behind him. He had placed a dress for her on the bed but had left her underwear in the drawer.
Ahiru looked down at her pendant and imagined her human form. In a flash of light, she changed. Red hair with an unmanageable cowlick, pale skin with freckles, and gangly limbs. To most people, she looked extremely ordinary, but to Ahiru, she was beautiful. Not as beautiful as Rue of course, but still pretty.
Ahiru walked over to the bed and picked up the dress and slipped it over her head. She then went to the drawer and picked up a simple pair of panties. She turned towards the mirror and twirled, giggling. She loved being able to transform between a duck and a human without worrying.
She skipped towards the door and walked outside. Fakir was still sitting on the dock and writing. He hadn’t even noticed she had come outside. Ahiru got an idea and began to creep over to him. She silently tip-toed over to him, careful to avoid anything that could give her away. When she was close enough, she raised her arms and gently placed them on his shoulders.
“BOO!!!” she said. Fakir laughed and looked up at her.
“I knew you were coming,” he said matter of factly. Ahiru puffed out her cheeks.
“How did you know?” she asked, crossing her arms.
“I heard the door opening. The top hinge is a bit squeaky, remember?” he said, placing his pen and paper down and standing up. Ahiru huffed and pouted. Fakir chuckled. “Also, your shadow gave you away,” he added, pointing at the sun. Ahiru sighed.
“Fine. You win. What’s for lunch?” she asked, still pouting. Fakir smiled and led her to the outdoor picnic table. Karon had helped him build it. It was perfectly placed under a tree, but so much so that it was covered by the branches. He had already put a picnic basket, plates, and glasses for drinks out.
“Sandwiches. I got the ingredients from the farmer that comes by sometimes,” he said, leading her to one of the benches. He took the one opposite her and opened the basket. “By the way, he was wondering where you were. I told him you were visiting family and would be back soon.” Ahiru smiled at that.
“Well, I can’t wait to see him again,” she said, finally smiling. Fakir put a sandwich in front of her and poured her a glass of lemonade. They began to eat and Ahiru told him about all she had seen from up in the sky. Fakir listened intently, no doubt taking inspiration for his next story.
Nearby, some heliotrope grew at the base of the tree.
Day 4: Heliotrope
Had a hard time thinking of what devotion meant for them, so I landed on this scene in the end. And I like scene redraws hehe
Day 4: Devotion / Heliotrope
What if the kiss scene at the end of Princess Tutu with Rue and Mytho was with Ahiru and Fakir instead 👀
My one and only post for Fakiru week. Thanks for having me I had a blast drawing this!!!! @fyeahfakiruweek

Day4 · Heliotrope
Heliotrope by Linda Gregerson
He made this place.
They named it for him.
And upholstered the seats in heliotrope,
whose cluster of vowels and consonants.
He loved like my blue-going-violet with touches of gray.
The vocal colors, warm-up, nightly,
before the play.

Fakiru Week 2025 @fyeahfakiruweek
Lotus | Purity
Summer was in full swing in Gold Crown Town. People were walking outside, catching as much sun as they could before fall was inevitably followed by the cold days of winter. Fakir was currently walking around the market, browsing the different stalls and discussing prices. Meanwhile Ahiru was… wait where did she go?
Fakir sighed as he began to look around for her. One minute she was by his side, the next she had vanished. It should be easy to spot her. Not many people had the bright red hair she did and her cowlick, but unfortunately, Ahiru was a head shorter than everyone.
He looked around before spotting something that resembled her at the far end of the stalls. He made his way over there and sure enough, there was Ahiru. She was standing at a stall that was selling flowers. Fakir made his way over as he called out to her.
“Ahiru, there you are!” Said girl looked up at him and smiled.
“Oh, there you are Fakir! I’m sorry for wandering off. There’s just so much here!” she said, spreading her arms wide. Fakir had to admit, there was a lot going on. Not only were there stalls set up, there were street performers doing skits and families wandering around too. All and all, the main street was bustling with activity.
“Anyway, Fakir, look at these flowers! Aren’t they gorgeous?” Ahiru asked, bringing his attention back to the stall. It was true, there were many different kinds of flowers that the stall was selling. Violets, daisies, honeysuckle, magnolias, lilies, heliotrope, geraniums, roses; a large variety.
The seller smiled sweetly at them. “Oh my, such kind words. Thank you for stopping by and smelling my roses.” Ahiru and the seller giggled at her joke. Fakir softly chuckled. He noticed that she was also selling seeds too, and not just flowers. Vegetables, fruits, and small trees. The seller took notice and looked at him.
“Perhaps something to brighten your home with? I love fresh cut flowers, but something about planting it yourself just makes it better don’t you agree?”
Fakir looked at the seller and her stall. There was truth to her words. Fakir spent a lot of money on groceries, especially since Ahiru had returned to her human form. The way the seller said it reminded him of someone.
“Maybe we should purchase some seeds. What do you think Ahiru?” he asked, turning to her. Ahiru’s face immediately lit up.
“That sounds fantastic! I’ve always wanted to try my hand at gardening! Do you remember Freya? She always took care of the gardens on campus!” Fakir smiled and they started reaching for seeds. The seller was very helpful and recommended beginner friendly plants to start. Before they could leave, the seller stopped them.
“I know you said you haven’t planted before, but what about this one?” she said, holding out a packet of seeds. Fakir took it and read what it said.
‘Lotus Seeds.’ On the front there was an image of two lotus flowers, one pink and the other white. They were in a pond with lily pads and a dragonfly was flying by. Ahiru looked at the package and smiled.
“Ooohh. Fakir, they look so pretty! Can we try? It will be a fun learning experience!” Ahiru with an innocent expression. Fakir sighed and exchanged money for the seeds. Ahiru jumped up and down, chattering away about how pretty their new garden was going to look.
When they got back to the cottage, Ahiru immediately took the lotus seeds and followed the instructions that the seller gave them. She watched the seeds everyday, making sure that they were growing the way that the seller had told them.
Fakir just smiled and watched her. Planting their own garden was such a good idea. They could enjoy what they grew and grow along with them. Soon, the flowers would bloom and the pond would be filled with lotus flowers.
Day3 · Lotus
Rhapsody | New verse by Prabhu Iyer
It will rain tonight,
soft on the lotus ponds.
landing by the dancing canvas leaves,
painted in hues of cream-white,
birthing buds of pink,
smiling shy.
