“It was quite a surreal experience being given a tv show, but even while I was filming it, I used to have this on-going joke, when we filmed stuff I used to say, ‘of course no one will see it’. It took a while to realise that people did see it. How bizarre is that? And it worked. But what you say about the responsibility, if I’d started to analyse it at the time my anxiety would’ve got the better of me, so that’s where a lovely sense of denial comes in which has served me well to this day, I just don’t really think about things. I don’t really stop and think whether it’s going to work and what will happen if it fails because as you know [Brett], I live my life as if everything is rigged in my favour.”
