I've been sitting on this ask for a day now and I still don't have a real reply so I guess I'll just wing it.
First of all, thank you. Â You are lovely and this ask made my day.
Secondly, I'm sorry I don't update.  I wish I had a real excuse but it's mainly that I suck.  It got to the point where I realized I had actual followers and I didn't know what to do with that and I started worrying that I could disappoint people and I got super anxious.  So I just stopped and ran away.  I'm sorry.

A WARNING TO ALL THINKING ABOUT GETTING INTO COMICS
I make this post not to dissuade you, but just so you might understand.
You will fall in love with side characters that no one cares about. It is highly likely no one will even know that they exist.
You will love pairings that no one else does. It is highly likely that you will be the only shipper.
There will be characters who will send you into near constant fits of rage. It is highly likely that they will be important characters.
The writers allow no one to remain happy for any substantial length of time. This includes you. It is highly likely that you will sit, fully clothed, under the spray of your shower while dramatic music plays.
Reasons Why You Should All Read Battle Scars and Fan With Me:
First of all, and most importantly,
Phil Coulson is in it. Â In a 616, main Marvel continuity series. Â He exists in the comics now. Â He is alive and well. Â I don't need to tell you that that is AWESOME.
More reasons below:
Reason #2:
Phil and the story's main character, Marcus Johnson, are totally in love with each other.
At the beginning of the series Marcus goes home from the war to his mother's funeral. Â Her death, which was blamed on the riots in Fear Itself (which doesn't need to be read to understand Battle Scars) turns out to have been committed by mercenaries and supervillains to draw Marcus out. Â He ends up stumbling though a dangerous world with no idea why or how.
So, he calls Phil (nicknamed 'Cheese' because you aren't supposed to know who he is until the end whoops).
Throughout the twists and turns and chaos that Marcus goes into, Phil stays right by his side. Â He doesn't have to, there's no reason given besides 'best friends and war buddies'. Â They just care about each other so much, and Phil does everything that he can to keep Marcus safe, and I just really need other people to ship this with me come on guys please?
Reason #3:
Marcus Johnson is actually pretty awesome and it looks like he's going to be pretty important to the comics.
Marcus' back story remains a secret for most of the series, even to him. Â But if the people in charge choose to keep the ending of Battle Scars intact then Marcus is going to be a character you should know about. Â It's pretty influenced by the Avengers movie (one of those 'catering to the new fans' thing that I personally dislike) and the ending kind of made me sigh and shake my head.
BUT, Marcus himself? Â I like him! Â He has a tendency to rush into danger head first, and luckily has the skill to take care of himself. Â When that fails he has Phil to catch him. Â He spends the series desperately trying to find his mother's killer, and when it comes down to the wire he puts other people ahead of himself. Â If he gets the screentime I'd love to see his rashness dealt with, and also him dealing with the events of this series, but hey, these are comics. Â If people maybe wanted to do that in fanfiction...

I think it's worth reading, but if you disagree it's only six issues! Â It's quick, it's important, it's got an awesome relationship, and it has Phil Coulson! Â What more could you ask for?
