Dear The One That Got Away, I know this letter is months too late and if I’m being completely honest this will never get sent so there’s things you deserve to know that you’ll probably never hear and things I deserve to get off my chest that I’ll probably never say.   But I was never the person who fell in love, everyone around me seemed to have experienced it but I never opened up and I never saw you coming. I fell in love with you slowly and then all at once, it came on so fast I never gave myself a chance. You never wanted anything and you warned me from the start but you can’t stop feelings and I learnt that the hard way. Now you’re gone I often wonder if I ever cross your mind like you do mine, your constant footprints trace my brain more than I’d care to admit. I stare at the moon and wonder if you’re looking at it too, the same moon as mine just millions of miles away. Do your thoughts still keep you up at night? I worry you’re alone with your struggles even though you hated talking about it all; you thought it made you weak.  A slight part of me hopes you are, just so I’d know you haven’t moved on and forgotten about me. Please don’t forget me. I just hope you know you broke me and before you allow that to go to your head know that I’m now a better person because of.
