I'm not sure if you've had this question asked before, but if you decided to start making fursuits or knew someone who makes fursuits, what would you consider/ask your maker to consider in regards to making the fursuits more disability friendly? (materials used, types of stitching, where the zippers are placed, finger escapes, comfortability, pockets to keep belongings like stim toys or inhalers, type of padding, prosthetic limbs etc.) as someone who's autistic irl who recently joined the furry fandom and is considering to either making a fursuit or commissioning a cheap maker in the future I would like some insight from someone in the community who is also a disability advocate :) (sorry for yapping đ)
Oh gosh, I adore fursuits but sadly do not know anything about making them myself. I use a hoodie & custom pants/shoes combo to avoid wearing them altogether myself as my sensory issues donât allow full suiting (I could potentially do âpoodling,â but bodysuit is def a no. I donât know if this is something that makers still permit, but Iâve been to some cons where I can temp try on a suit head/paws etc or two to get the general feel of the weight of them. Some things from my limited knowledge to consider:
- Foam, 3D Print or Resin casted head all feel different.
- Suits do tend to be constricting, but I do know of some examples (Ex: mouth-open or âunhingable jawâ heads) which give some more breathing room
- Check about some form of low-seamed paws/feetpaws!
For pockets etc I recommend themed bags! Ita bags, little plushie backpacks, or many labeled âfursuit Propâ bags can give a fun feel while also helping out. I have both an Ita and a custom printed backpack I take around, depending on the needs of the space and my items. Thankfully many fursuit props also double as stims, and I think that some suits also do have additional pockets. My LemonBrat hoodie has some that are deep enough to handle an IPad. So Iâm sure if you inquire youâll be able to find something! And best of luck with that :3

I Was Selected To Vend @Â Furality Ultra!
Furality is a convention set in VRChatâs free-to-play (no headset needed) platform, where the entire con is set through virtual reality. While the con itself is roughly $35 a pop, you can either apply to waive fees or visit the virtual booth world for free! Iâll be sure to add more information and the world link come sometime in May. This is a HUGE honor and my first time being a vendor, so Iâm super stoked!

I am also hosting a BacketKit project as part of the overarching collab âbeasts and botanicals!â This project highlights biodiversity, with an additional twist of neurodiversity in my own campaign. Pins are hoping to be backed in a progressive state, with small printed metals as the âfundedâ goalâs reach and further stretch goals of both soft and hard enamel variants (if funding is successful for those).
