For example, the fact that their smile and friendliness could hide something sinister, like Maxxx's addiction to violence or Waldo's sadistic nature. Or the complete unknown about their past life and appearance (nobody knows Waldo's name, and perhaps few even remember what he originally looked like before all these body modifications, I think. And Maxxx is basically a big mystery, who doesn't even have any documents other than a photo with a signature).
