You guys have been asking, and I’m here to finally give 😂💙✨ Here’s my tutorial for plushifying a 1998 Furby! (If you haven’t yet, check out both my skinning and washing tutorial) Without further adieu, let’s get into it!

You guys have been asking how to make a possible beak when plushifying a Furby, so I’m finally here with the tutorial! With this tutorial, your furby’s beak will move just like it did when it was attached to the robot! (This tutorial is generalized for both the 1998 and 2012 / furby boom so it will not include process pictures nor will it detail how to close up the faceplate or ears on your furby. I will however provide links to some tutorials for getting you to the point where this one picks up below. Make sure you keep the base of your furby as it will be important later.

Note: The 1998s are easier to skin and prepare for stuffing then the 2012s but the 2012s are often cheaper. Consider your skill level (in my case patience) and financial situation before attempting this project as the plastic beans needed to give the furby extra weight are more expensive than the regular polyfill, and you can get a more polished look with a new in/with box 2012 furby. Or you can be like me and throw caution to the wind. Whatever works for you)

1998

2012/Boom

One of my favorite types of Furbies are those itty bitty spaced out furby buddies. For me they are too small to be much use for stimming and none of their face parts move but the bean bag center has always given these fellows a wonderful little bit of weight. This had me wondering if I could make a full size furby with a bean bag core. Turns out it is much easier than it looks and all you need is some extra fabric of any color, the base of your furby, some weighted pellets for use in your bean bag, and a small amount of polyfill. I personally used the polyfill plastic pellets since they were easy to pick up at my local Walmart. I'd recommend using whatever is convenient or cheapest but you can get heavier beans out there.

The first thing you're going to need is the furby you intend to to turn into a plush. This particular tutorial will work for any 1998 adult, baby or 2012 furby/boom. Be sure to keep the base as this will come in handy later.

Follow the respective tutorial for pushifying your particular furby up until the point where you need to begin to sew up the butt.

Set your furby aside for now.

Using scrap fabric cut two squares roughly the same width but never bigger than the base of your furby. Using the plastic base that came with them is a useful measuring tool for this.

Pin the two squares together and sew up three of the four sides. Make sure your seams are tight so that none of the beans can't escape their soul prison.

Invert the fabric so that your seam allowances are on the inside and add your beans, making sure to add only enough to give the bag shape and weight while still allowing it to deform and move semi-freely. Just enough for it to be a proper bean bag but not enough that you're making a mess when you're sewing it up. Beans do not compress like polyfill.

Note: It is not necessary to turn your bean bag inside out and use a ladder stitch to close it up if it does not bother you. The bean bag is going to be inside the furby and not visible but it bothered me so I chose to turn the bag inside out for a more finished look. Do what makes you happy in life, dude.

Once you have added your beans turn the bag sideways so that the seam is facing you and sew close across the top of the bag going across that seam. Once done you should have a functional bean bag perfect for pelting your siblings or giving your furby a core of beans.

And speaking of your furby, it's time to bring them back!

Make a "nest" for your bean bag inside their skull by laying down a layer of regular polyfill at the top of the head. If you have a furby boom I would recommend adding extra stuffing around the faceplate as this era of furbies have larger face plates that poke further into the middle of the furby then the original 1998s.

Stuff around the bean bag to your desired firmness and set your furby aside one last time. You will see them again real soon.

Again using your base trace a circle around it using your remainder scrap fabric. If you have a furby boom or 2012 and you have the original box you can use the scrap fabric in the top of the box to sew up the butt for a more polished look.

I would recommend giving yourself a large seam allowance and making sure your trace lines are clearly marked. It can be a little bit difficult to sew up the bottom but I find the best method is a combination of pins and ample ladder stitching.

Voila! You now have a weighted plush furby! Enjoy your very shaped friend and give them lots of pets!

2005 furby beak tutorial! i decided to whip up a quick drawn tutorial on how to make a finger cot beak (based on a tutorial by Mandificando, the original tutorial is in Portuguese. This one is also slightly modified.)

A sockby tutorial!! This tutorial is meant to give your furby a replacement fur while it’s other one dries.

1. Skin your furby. There are many helpful tutorials on tumblr and on the internet in general, so I’m not going to go into detail on this step.

2. Decide which sock to put on the furby. The sock will probably get stretched out, so make it one you don’t care about ruining. Also, the longer the sock is, the longer tail you will have for your sock friend!

3. Stretch the hole of the sock around furby’s base. Then, pull the sock up to the furby’s neck as shown in the pictures.

4. Take the excess sock hanging at the bottom of the furby, take a ponytail holder or rubber band, and tie it at the back.

Supplies: -fabric (preferably non stretchy or hard to work with like the kind I used >_<) -hot glue gun + glue (if you don’t want to or can’t sew) -sticky back Velcro - ribbon for the neck part & some trim for the bottom -scissors

Measure out 13in in length of your fabric and about 4in in width; cut a slight curve from the bottom to the top where the ribbon will go

If your furb has a tail and you would like it to poke out, cut up about halfway at around the 7in mark and down into a 2in triangle shape

Leave some excess ribbon on the ends, about half an inch for the Velcro closure. Be very slow and careful as you hot glue the ribbon on, starting with the inside of the cape, then folding it over the fabric and glue the ‘right side’/outer part of the cape (not trying to scare you, but there is a pretty good chance you might burn yourself a little, so ask for help if you need it)

Follow the instructions for the sticky back Velcro and cut a small piece for the closure and attach it to the ribbon ends (trim the excess at an angle to make it look nice)

Add decorative rope, lace, feathers, any kind of fun trim to the bottom, and then you are done!

Introducing🎈Penny, the Dancing Furby🎈

this is a tutorial for furby dungarees! these are suitable for any furby that has doesn’t have it’s ears entirely attached to the body (the straps go trough the ears!), that’s also why i don’t have any exact measurements in this tutorial. i tried my best to make this tutorial as clear as possible, but if you have any questions, feel free to comment them of message me! also a disclaimer: i am very new to sewing, and all the techniques. feel free to use other techniques if you think they’ll work better!

for this tutorial you will need:

-  any fabric - scissors - needle and thread or sewing machine - two buttons - 2 sets of snaps (or buttons if you don’t have snaps) - your furby 

let’s start with the body of the dungarees: the width of the body is the width of your furby + roughly 2 centimetres, the fabric should overlap and you need this extra bit of fabric to attach snaps to later on, this is how we will close our dungarees in the back.

you can decide the length of your body, mine cover the entire belly of my furby (from the peets to just below the beak), but you could make it shorter (or longer) to your lliking. make sure to add around 1 cm of extra fabric to each side, we will fold this inside later, for a nice seam.

the body piece will have a gap on both sides, this is where the tail of your furby will poke out. try cutting a small part out of the fabric on both sides first and see how it fits. if the gap needs to be bigger, keep cutting small pieces off until it fits perfectly around the tail. if your furby has manes instead, you can skip this part.

*** i would recommend finishing the body first, before starting the straps***

for the straps, let’s start with the width. i chose a width of 1 cm. but because we will fold the fabric in half, to create a sturdy and smooth strap, the total width of our fabric will be twice your desired width + around 5mm of extra fabric.

so that means mine are 2,5 cm total.

the length of the strap will be a little tricky to measure. with a measuring tape, roughly measure from the spot where you want the straps to start and end. (this might be easier if you make the body first and put it on while measuring). for reference, i included a picture of how the straps should look in the back. make sure you make the straps longer than needed.

the next step will depend on your fabric: if you have a soft and thin fabric, fold the cut out piece with the wrong side outwards. after stitching along the length with a running stitch you will be able to turn it inside out, this way you won’t be able to see the stitching.  if you have a sturdy fabric like i do, sadly you won’t be able to turn it inside out. you’ll have to fold your piece with the right side outwards, and stitch along the length. fold the fabric so you can’t see the seam / stitching.

after you’ve cut out the body, fold on the dotted lines and make a crease. now it’s time to add snaps (or buttons) to the back. (on the image i accidentally wrote studs instead of snaps oops)

this part might be very confusing, so i’ll try my best to explain. lay your fabric down, with the front facing up and unfold it. on the left side, attach one side of the snaps in the same position as in the drawing.

the other side of the snaps have to be attached to the back of the fabric (aka the wrong side). these will go on the part that will be folded over, like shown in the drawing.

after the snaps are attached, fold the fabric again on the crease, and when you close the dungarees with the snaps, it should look like the picture attached further below.

now, it’s time to attach buttons to the front of the dungarees. this is how you’ll be able to put the straps on and take them off.

make a hole in at the end of the straps, and put the buttons trough the holes. it should look like the picture below.

now put the dungarees on your furby and put the straps trough your furby’s ears. tuck the end of the straps under the body piece, in the place you want and pin them down.

now you can either sew along the red line as shown in the picture below or, attach them to the folded over part. (i chose not to sew along the line as i don’t know how to use a sewing machine and my hand stitching isn’t the neatest.)

add a lil pocket to your dungarees if you want to, and they should be done! i am not the best at explaining so i’m sorry if this tutorial was messy / hard to follow. feel free to ask any questions you have or leave feedback! if you give this tutorial a try, let me know how yours turned out!

This is the pattern I came up with to make Furbies, in case anyone wants to have a go, If you do please show me the results! Keep in mind gauge might vary from person to person and you might need to make adaptions.

I wanna preface this with I have no idea how to write tutorials so this isn't really a tutorial and more of a how i do it!!!

 But carving eyelids is pretty simple process! But actually cutting them can be a little tricky!

While carving eyelids can really enhance a custom, there are cons the carving the kids being they won’t be able to fully close them after and there may be risk of a slip and cutting too deep into them, if you do don’t fear, I’ve seen lots of people fix slips with air dry clay and then paint over them to hide the clay!

But onto the tutorial!

So I start off by taking off the furbies shell and removing the eye pins and pulling out the eyelids. You can find how to get them out in a lot of tutorials on how to remove the faces for long furbies but Here you will be screwing it back together so be careful not to lose screws!

Once they’re out I draw out the guide lines, Be it angry or sad or whatever you wish!

These ones are Brie’s so they were angry!

Then using some nail cutters like these

I cut from the start of each edge, making sure to not cut off or through the holes on the side that thread the eyelids on the pin!

Then after the entry cuts are made I go through them following the guide line with a scalpel. a dremel tool is also very good and probably better but sadly I don’t own one so be careful it’s very tough and can be a little dangerous so make sure to cut away from you!

After you’ve cut them they should look something like this!

then it’s just a matter of smoothing them out with sandpaper or a nailfile, making sure they’re even and putting them back together!

This was the finished result of this baby!
