The ground shook violently, causing people and things alike to stumble and fall, pots slid off windowsills and shattered just as the glass itself did. Some of the more poorly built structures, such as the waterfall started to crack and red water started to flow out of the cracks. The sky of Town was turning crimson and the greenery of the place was drying up. The wind was picking up as well.

There was a giant tear forming in the liminal barrier as a pair of red hands appeared, followed by the appearance of Mehrunes Dagon and a Khaijit man, climbing out of the rift. Dagon’s nostrils were flaring out fire, and he seemed to be breathing heavily, his knuckling clenching an axe on his other set of arms.'He rolled his neck thunder striking in tune with the crack of vertebrae. And before the storm had a chance to quiet down, his jaws split open to deliver the true wrath of the hells in a single word,

Theodor sat in a perfect little area of greenery by the old Ayleid Champion's Statue, seemingly, having set up a table for tea. The plants that shiveled up and died seemed to stop where he was, a few of them instead ripping their own roots out of the ground and dancing around, before a cane stomped them back into the ground between the screams of running villagers.

Theodor turned to look at them with an amused snort, sipping a teacup that had a maw of teeth where there should have been a flat bottom.

"How's the kids?"

Ra'Isaabudi held his shield out in front of himself. A beam of burning, concentrated light momentarily broke through the veil of the crimson sky and illuminated the area Theodor was sitting in, setting ablaze the few previously spared plants around the Mad God. The look on Rai's face – not one of anger, but rather one of tranquil fury – suggested that Theodor was next in line to be turned into a pile of ash.

In order to conserve his power for the upcoming battle, he shed the illusion that gave him a more. . . 'living' appearance, revealing the contrast between the actual, faded color of his fur and the burnt half of his face: a contrast between the shriveled husk of a body that badly mimicked his appearance in life and a piece of the deadlands that had seeped into his very essence.

The khajiit's lips contorted into a sneer.

"Wouldn't you like to know."

Dagon took in a deep breath. The air laid heavy as the cleansing smoke of his fires clashed with the local stench. The town all but reeked of the Shivering Isles. As he took a step forward, the ground began to crack and grow wounds under his feet.

''Cut the crap, Sheogorath!''

Far too long had this land remained ensnared in Madness' grasp. But no more, he would purge it of every last morsel of lunacy. Starting with the source!

He advanced to close the distance between him and the other Prince and as he did, the earth tore further open. In the background the ground could be seen swallowing a house whole and Dagon swung his axe wide. The tea table split with a creak, as he brought it down short of a hair's length from Theodor's bread.

"Kill me then. If that's your goal. Go on, do it!”

He stood up straight and gestured around to the city, notably, everyone in the city was either trying to run out, run into buildings, or was shocked, gawking.

"Kill them too. HAHAHA! Raze this place to the ground! Spill blood without prejudice- not that I'm saying you ARE prejudicial!"

He cackled, loud, unbothered, entirely entertained by their destruction.

"You want your child back? Figure out how! Like a puzzle! Or perhaps Twister!"

He lowered his voice, sobering up a moment. If was very rare he did, ever the clown. He only went serious when genuinely angry he found. And yet... In this whole endeavor... It had happened twice.

"Destroy, boys."

Maybe there was a slight benefit to having daedric princes constantly getting on your nerves – knowing how to deal with them.

A twisted smile morphed on the khajiit's face as he spoke in a mocking tone. He approached, lowering and eventually sheathing his mace. For a brief moment, it almost seemed like he wanted to solve this peacefully. "Killing you? Letting you reform like none of this happened? No, that would be far, far too much mercy."

Rai wrapped his claws around the man's neck and lifting him up into the air, chocking him as he spoke. He doubted it, but perhaps less air and blood going into his brain would make him a tiny bit more lucid. Or would make him shut up for a bit, at the very least.

"You deserve a taste of your own medicine. To be kidnapped, trapped and tortured until you eventually break." Rai's grip tightened. He spoke, defining every word, as one would do when scolding a child or a pet that doesn't quite understand what's being asked of them. ". . . The Deadlands have many, many places that could accommodate that. And it's not like our time is limited. We could torture you for an eternity, if you'd like."

"So, before that, let us ask you one last time. . . Where are you keeping her?!"

Maybe he was scared- like a child grieving a not quite dead dog with a broken leg, even though they knew it was better to put down a suffering beast. But the walls breathed on, every shifting hallway, a new gauntlet to go through. How did time move here? Were your days, hours or weeks? Did it matter? Did the suffering endured change depending on the length of time in which it was experienced?

Theodor himself would only watch. maybe more would come. Perhaps more would change fate. Maybe just one more soul... One more mind... and if not that one then the next. For what else was there to do? Simply accept the inevitable? Oh no, no no no. Mourning Mortality was a mortifyingly mortal sin. There was no end goal but the same straight path as always, stretching far forward unto the horizon because what else was there...? Who would mourn a forgotten god? Certainly not Theodor. Not if there was no one left to mourn.

The definition of insanity: to do something over and over again with the feeble hope it will achieve different results.

“You know- all you all knowing god types have one thing in common. You sure are a bitch. You’re dying already. Why not let SOMEONE ELSE live?! Why keep us here to feed on us? What point does that serve you other than to lengthen your suffering? I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW LONG I’VE BEEN DOWN HERE! I don’t even know if I have anyone to go back to!”

They paused, freezing on the spot and staring at the empty sockets of the face staring back.

“We just want to live. Why don’t you want that too?”

They punched the wall- not the face itself, but the wall angrily, hard enough their knuckles cracked.

The Hunter turned around and hissed.

“What do you think he’ll do when he gets OUT? Goddamnit I’m tired of ALL of ‘em, mate! Because they don’t FUCKIN’ care about ANYONE but themselves. Not really.”

They gestured behind themself.

The Hunter turned their snippishness towards Ramage.

“It all doesn’t matt- ACK-“

Something, or someone- yanked the Hunter away from the rest of the party into a nearby wall, where they exploded into a pile of sweetrolls.

Her gaze then had shifted onto Theodor, an expression of pure hatred and disgust spreading across their face.

“Oh? I simply got bored WAITING for you to crack like twigs underfoot.”

He shot a sour glance at the face in the wall.

“Oh? The kitten has claws.”

He walked right up to her and loomed over her.

“If a serious Madgod is what you want, child, a serious Madgod is EXACTLY what you’ll get.”

The face finally spoke up, shifting closer to the cloaked Breton.

“Sheogorath, do not harm them. They must stay alive to get your prey.”

Theodor didn’t once look away from Rampage before shoving the cane into the Abyss’ mouth and ripping it down, yanking the Soul Gem out and onto the ground. The sculpture turned to mush before it even got another word in.

“Let me tell you a secret, little one. I am not doing this on behalf of the Abyss. The Abyss never wanted you here. If it wanted you to lose your minds it would have tried harder. The ONLY reason you’re alive is to keep ME from taking someone else. It’s a stalling game, and I. Am. Bored.”

He plucked the little Khajiit up and held them in the air, practically snarling in his face like a hateful dog.

Then, she stopped.

It didn't matter.

They felt so enraged that their head began spinning. It felt like they would be the next one to explode into sweetrolls if they didn't do something about their anger right at that exact moment.

"This one likes her insides intact, but yours – she will gladly eat scrambled!"

“Bad kitty.”

Theodor dropped Rampage- not lightly either.

Theodor pointed out, leaning on his cane.

"Excuse you! I do care! About different things! It's not my fault I'm a very fragmented god!"

Theodor scoffed. How dare this mortal expect to understand him! So rude, so naive! Certainly there was a bigger picture here, couldn't anyone else understand that?

"It's not EVERY day a fellow god I care about is dying you know! Sacrifices have to be made! Sometimes you have to pick the best lambs for the slaughter even if you were attached because the family you love needs the food!"

"Honestly? I don't know. That's a very difficult thing to calculate, and I'm not EXACTLY known for my sense of order and calculatory nature. Anymore anyway!"

The walls quaked and Theodor bonked one with his cane.

Theodor did a little twirl on his cane with a laugh. The walls rumbled again. Behind the Madgod without his noticing, the Soul Gem was absorbed into the ground.

"I'm NOT a PATIENT man. The ABYSS HAS MERE DAYS, BOY. I don't have TIME for patience anymore you stalling little-"

"Excuse you! I do care! About different things! It's not my fault I'm a very fragmented god!"

Theodor scoffed. How dare this mortal expect to understand him! So rude, so naive! Certainly there was a bigger picture here, couldn't anyone else understand that?

"It's not EVERY day a fellow god I care about is dying you know! Sacrifices have to be made! Sometimes you have to pick the best lambs for the slaughter even if you were attached because the family you love needs the food!"

If you were very quiet and very still, maybe you could hear the Walls breathe... Or the mutterings of a Madman trying to keep them alive desperately, along with everything trapped inside it.

Maybe he was scared- like a child grieving a not quite dead dog with a broken leg, even though they knew it was better to put down a suffering beast. But the walls breathed on, every shifting hallway, a new gauntlet to go through. How did time move here? Were your days, hours or weeks? Did it matter? Did the suffering endured change depending on the length of time in which it was experienced?

Theodor himself would only watch. maybe more would come. Perhaps more would change fate. Maybe just one more soul... One more mind... and if not that one then the next. For what else was there to do? Simply accept the inevitable? Oh no, no no no. Mourning Mortality was a mortifyingly mortal sin. There was no end goal but the same straight path as always, stretching far forward unto the horizon because what else was there...? Who would mourn a forgotten god? Certainly not Theodor. Not if there was no one left to mourn.

The definition of insanity: to do something over and over again with the feeble hope it will achieve different results.

They paused, freezing on the spot and staring at the empty sockets of the face staring back.

The Hunter turned around and hissed.

“What do you think he’ll do when he gets OUT? Goddamnit I’m tired of ALL of ‘em, mate! Because they don’t FUCKIN’ care about ANYONE but themselves. Not really.”

They gestured behind themself.

Something, or someone- yanked the Hunter away from the rest of the party into a nearby wall, where they exploded into a pile of sweetrolls.

Her gaze then had shifted onto Theodor, an expression of pure hatred and disgust spreading across their face.

“Oh? I simply got bored WAITING for you to crack like twigs underfoot.”

He shot a sour glance at the face in the wall.

“Oh? The kitten has claws.”

He walked right up to her and loomed over her.

“If a serious Madgod is what you want, child, a serious Madgod is EXACTLY what you’ll get.”

The face finally spoke up, shifting closer to the cloaked Breton.

“Sheogorath, do not harm them. They must stay alive to get your prey.”

Theodor didn’t once look away from Rampage before shoving the cane into the Abyss’ mouth and ripping it down, yanking the Soul Gem out and onto the ground. The sculpture turned to mush before it even got another word in.

“Let me tell you a secret, little one. I am not doing this on behalf of the Abyss. The Abyss never wanted you here. If it wanted you to lose your minds it would have tried harder. The ONLY reason you’re alive is to keep ME from taking someone else. It’s a stalling game, and I. Am. Bored.”
