a while before Prince died there was an article in the local free paper about him. A reporter hung out with him while he did his daily routine which began at the drive through at the Caribou in Chanhassen to pick up a latte, (he took oat milk as he was trying to go vegan, the main exception to which was his love of the discontinued snack "Dunkaroos" which he had stockpiled in his fridge) and then it was back to his house, Paisley Park to his days business. He frequently held impromptu concerts/after parties for his fan club at the studio in Paisley Park. He remained accessible, moving around the Twin Cities without any pretense or disguise. He lived in a glorified office park in a suburb of Minneapolis without any special security or entourage
I'm saying all this because today is the ten year anniversary of his death and the local media have articles about how mysterious and enigmatic he was and it's like...was he though? Wasn't he just a private person who allowed his trusted and beloved fans in to his life in a way that was comfortable for him? I mean he didn't even have an assistant fetching his coffee. He was alone in an elevator when he died. I still think about that...
NBA Finals this year got me like:
Bitch i was listening to "Controversy" by Prince and at the prayer part i was like "wait i've heard this prayer somewhere before" . Then i realised.

Blurb: Showing off new clothing to you.
Pairing: Prince (PRN) x reader
Warning/Disclaimer: Established relationship, you two are married. Just for clarification, he was around 45 - 46 in 2004. This was made with the intention to allow you to chose the reader-insert's gender, although the video has a part where I would have it to manipulate it to fit my objective. Please, if you do choose to watch the video before reading the text, ignore the gendered part.

Prince - Thieves In The Temple
Throwback: Patti LaBelle: Yo Mister
Patti LaBelle's "Yo Mister" is on her 1989 album, Be Yourself. The album is her ninth solo project and second one for MCA Records. Prince produced and wrote "Yo Mister," sang backing vocals, and played bass, lead guitar, and synthesizers on the song about a strict father who abandons his daughter during her battle with addiction.
"Yo Mister" had been sitting around since the time of LaBelle's "New Attitude," but Prince didn't feel comfortable approaching her with the song until she invited him to collaborate on Be Yourself. LaBelle recorded her vocals at Paisley Park in 1988, but Prince had already completed his instrumental parts and vocals at Sunset Sound in Hollywood in 1986. Margie Cox, a frequent Prince collaborator from Minneapolis, provides uncredited background vocals on the track.
Timmy Regisford, the NYC club DJ legend and A&R executive, remixed the single for the album version. "Yo Mister" went on to become a Top Ten R&B hit for LaBelle, and it was not Prince's only contribution to Be Yourself, as he also co-wrote "Love '89" with Sheena Easton. More recently, Patti LaBelle joined forces with fellow icons Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, and Stephanie Mills for the historic "The Queens! 4 Legends. 1 Stage." co-headlining tour.
