I’ve written of my headcanons about Nerevar and Voryn. But I haven’t delved too far into it as I’d like. There is one part of their relationship that sticks to me like glue; how obsessed Voryn is with Nerevar. One part of it is how Voryn would keep Nerevar within reach. I’ve gotten the idea that Voryn might use all kinds of ways to keep Nerevar with him, which one of them I’m going to be talking about (long intro I know).

Food. I think that Voryn would keep Nerevar around with food. My personal headcanons about Nerevar is that he never got to eat as much as he should’ve on the road before the war with the Nords. I suspect that he would’ve probably been underweight or simply that he didn’t have enough money. With the caravan mentioned in the 36 Lessons, knowing that there is a possibility that Nerevar traveled with a caravan in his earlier days, I also suspect that he had more to eat, but it would never be enough. Just enough to survive. With the war and meeting Voryn for the first time, Nerevar had plenty to eat. And also becoming king, he grew comfortable. 

Going back to Voryn, as he became more and more obsessed with Nerevar, he noticed that Nerevar would be “shy” about eating too much food. Of course, he could have all he wanted being king, but there was a hesitance to him. It was a slow crawl to get Nerevar to eat all he wanted, but Voryn got him to open up. 

Keeping Nerevar in Kogoruhn for a long time was hard. Nerevar loved to spend his time with Voryn, but he had business in Mournhold. But, Voryn would stop him before he would leave and declare that they must have a feast before he departs. The feast would go for hours, and by then Nerevar would be too full and tired to leave. Voryn would do this as many times as he could before Nerevar would catch on. 

Another thing, Voryn would just watch him. He wouldn’t eat much, he would just watch Nerevar. At first, Nerevar was unsure about it, but the more Voryn watched him, he grew used to it.

Voryn is a college student and he goes to a museum. He finds a statue of Nerevar and falls deeply in love with it. He visits the statue on occasion just to look at it. Admire it. At times he draws Nerevar. He doesn’t know who Nerevar is, but only that he was a Chimer King who ruled thousands of years ago (the tribunal might or might not exist in this modern version, however you like!)

The song “An Eater” by Matt Martians kind of reminds me of the fanon idea of Nerevar and Dagoth Ur/Voryn Dagoth. I like to imagine that Voryn was obsessed with Nerevar to an unhealthy degree. I mean, the fact that the guy was still so hooked on Nerevar after 3000 years is astonishing. This is why “An Eater” reminds me of them. It gives off such an intense feeling of obsession that I personally think that Voryn felt for Nerevar.

It would be worse if it was one sided too. Though I don’t think that would be possible, it would make something great for a fanfic. The idea that Voryn is so obsessed with him and Nerevar is none the wiser. Nerevar thinking that Voryn is just loyal to him while Voryn just can’t stop thinking about Nerevar. Possibly writing letters to Nerevar that he never sends to him. Or inviting Nerevar to Kogoruhn to keep him close and make him stay there for days on end, even when Nerevar knows he should be in Mournhold and serving as king.

Pros: great story and bad graphics. Always a hit.
