Goro Akechi in the year of 2017 - post P5 is 32 years old (if you count that his birthday has already passed). He's still a renowned detective who was known for being the head detective for the very first Phantom Thief case all the way back in 2009. He was involved in the case not only as a detective tracking down the rebellious band of thieves - but he too is the older brother of one of the members of the Phantom Thieves aswell. His younger brother is Masayoshi Shido, who had taken on his father's name unlike Goro who had taken his mother's last name. He's known as the very first Detective Prince, dating just a few years before Naoto in 2011. He has zero connections to the Goro Akechi of 2016, and infact while he's a different person, he dosen't come from an alternate universe. All of these incidents mentioned happens seven years prior to P5's main story, and does include characters that share names with others from the current timeline. I know it may seem confusing, but just know that he experienced a separate group of Phantom Thieves before the newer group. He however did not cover the case of 2016. Extra bits to know is that he is aware of the metaverse due to his relationship with Sojiro and his brother aswell. He had his own palace in the form of the Palace of Envy.

Zero intrest still twords p5, but the p3 train is going wild for me for the second week straight since I finally beat Reload...cried like a mf baby and :')
finally bought p3r after putting it off for a few weeks and never preordering. yuno pulled me in to cave and im happy to be playing a persona game again. using a diff blog, even tho its mainly my bsd multi too
why do i see so many soft boy akechis who keep playing up his facade even tho we know what he's really like??? why do so many people think a protag akechi has to be soft and overly friendly??? he's not just uwu soft pancake boy with trauma and mommy issues you guys forget how bitter and feral he is and can get.
"Your mother has great taste. Those are some of my favorite authors" As well as Maurice Leblanc, naturally. "I used to read pretty much whatever I could get my hands on, and there was an older woman I spent a lot of time with had a lot of those books."
The mention of the Phantom Thief case made him pause for a second. He hadn't known anything about his apparent predecessors before hand, and it definitely felt a little strange to know that everything that him and his friends were doing had happened before.
"I've seen some people talking about that online now. But that news never reached Inaba. Or if it did, I was probably too young to really know much about it. Did you work on that one?"
' No surprise you're a fan of Maurice Leblanc's work, after all you're working at a cafe named after it ' A chuckle as he too started wondering if the late Sakura-San was a fan of his work aswell, ah it was all so exciting. ' There's a small bar in Ginza actually that's owned by Lupin's third generation owner. ' He'd mention, always loving these tiny little details - also figuring that the highschool boy must've not known about it yet due to still being so new to Tokyo. Placing his cup down did he let out a hum in thought. So people online were talking about it huh? It hadn't been ten years yet...but they still remembered all the occurrences. After all, it must be no surprise with Shido still in the race for Prime Minister once more. ' I was, it really felt like my break out case I had been needing. It just happened so suddenly, even though there were some hints o the targets they took down scattered about. ' He'd recall hearing how the second year teacher and one of her students felt terrified of speaking up against the Sakomoto incident that kick started it all. ' Though the fact that their targets are so much like the previous thieves surprises me the most. I recall the first one was the track coach. '
"Oh, I had no idea there was ever another Sakura-san who owned Leblanc in the past. I guess there's a lot I don't know..."
Well, he had managed to go multiple months without even knowing Sojiro had a daughter. It wasn't hard to think he might have missed more things.
"You're right on the money. Inaba's my hometown. I was about twelve when all those murders happened. It was probably the only interesting thing that ever happened in that dead-end town." He tried to keep his voice upbeat, but his disdain for his home certainly seeped into his tone. "But wow, that's pretty cool! I must've known about you when I was younger. I was a big fan of anything detectives as a kid."
With a smile, he grabbed a cup for the coffee. Good thing he'd just put a fresh pot of coffee on to brew. So this new-yet-returning customer got to have the freshest coffee in the house.
"Kogoro Akechi? No relation to the current Detective Prince, I assume? Perhaps you're a Edogawa Ranpo fan, then?"
' Oh she was! ' He'd chime, expression brightening as the scent of freshly roasting coffee filled the air. He was always so delighted to share his fascination of detectives with others. ' No relations at all, but my mother was a huge fan of Ranpos works. So much so that I always found myself reading the copies of his books she had Along side Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Kuroiwa Ruiko, and most importantly Edgar Allen Poe who Ranpo admired so much.' A chuckle was given as he took the cup that was handed to him. Everyone always asked if he was related to the newest Detective Prince. Even with Shirogane holding the title aswell, it was so amusing it know how alike they all were. ' I wasn't their age when I was popular in the media though, I was in my early twenties. ' A sip of the warm drink as he let out the most delighted exhale. How rich and delicious it was. ' You say you were big into detectives growing up. ' he'd mention, tapping his chin in thought. ' Did you hear about the Phantom Thief case by any chance? The previous one - not this new one I've been hearing about. '

"I guess... It feels more like..." She paused, struggling to find the right words. Japanese was still a pretty new language for her, though her lessons with Niijima, her senpai, definitely helped a lot. "Like... they're missing something. Light of some kind. Maybe it's just me."
Despite being in a coffee shop, Sylvia had never been much of a coffee fan herself. Instead, she had a cup of hot cocoa, her counter to the temperate, humid rain outside. They really did call it the 'rainy season' for a reason in Japan, didn't they? Back home, the weather was a roulette spin. Predictions tended to vary wildly. It was nice having a change of pace like this.
For a moment, she'd forgotten where she was and had just hit up the nearest stranger. She was still getting used to etiquette in Japan, and most people tended to ignore her whenever she tried to strike up a conversation, but this man-- or perhaps boy, as he seemed only a little older than her-- actually responded, to her surprise.
"Help, and fix... Yeah, I guess that's... right?" She wanted to say 'accurate,' but the word escaped her. "I'm like that too. I know in my mind that they're strangers... but..." She trailed off, not sure how to finish the sentence, but she wasn't sure it was even necessary. With a nervous smile, she tried to brush off her own sentence. "Well, that's just me, though. You don't need to worry about that. Sorry..."
The television was playing beside the two, depicting a news channel. They spoke so fast and so fluently, Sylvia couldn't quite catch everything they were saying, but she could sort of piece together the idea from what she could grasp.
"And now to our latest story; police caution teens to be very careful when wandering the streets of Shibuya. A student from some kind of name High School in some kind of name District has been caught trafficking drugs by police. When questioned, the student claimed to have been blackmailed and threatened. This case is currently under investigation by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department."
"I've heard how dangerous Shibuya is lately... It's scary, isn't it? Please stay safe, too."
' From the years I've grown up in the city, I can agree it's gotten rather dangerous over the years. The city defiantly isn't new to the idea of the yakuza and gangs. It's all disgusting really. ' A grimace as he took another sip from his drink, trying so hard not to focus so much on the news that was playing. Every since he had given up his desire to seek out true justice and try to fix the world in his own ways did the world just... not seem worth his time anymore. He could tell how much she was stumbling with her Japanese, and there were a few times where it clearly sounded like she wasn't completely fluent. ' Though I'd say you're more safe if you just don't get yourself involved in it. ' Though he can see how a highschool student like her would be worrying over this stuff, seeing as many of these targets have been teenagers as of late.
"There are too many sad eyes on happy faces..." Sylvia to Akechi // @sylviareviar
' That's an interesting way to put it miss. ' The two had been sitting down at the same coffee shop, and it was rather surprising to see another student around his age come up to him and make rather casual conversation rather than the usual fangirls who obsessed over him even though it's been long since his boom in popularity. She seemed to have some sort off air to her that seemed off...not exactly completely gloomy, but it was things he could tell in her posture and the way her eyes would glance about the surroundings. ' Perhaps it's best to just chalk it up to sympathy. So many people in this world think they can help and fix others they don't even know. ' A chuckle as he raised his coffee cup to his lips.
"No, not a bad time at all. I'm just the only one here at the moment, is all." Sojiro had stepped out for a moment, so Ren was left to tend to the cafe all on his own. Which, while not easy, felt really nice. The fact that Sojiro trusted him to look after the place made him feel like he was actually a part of the family.
"Oh, yeah, the Boss still owns the place. I don't know what's changed exactly, though." Leblanc always had the vibe of a place that'd been the same for years, if not decades. But that vibe was probably not accurate. Surely some things would be different. Clearly not the menu, though. "I do my best to follow the recipe, though nothing beats the Boss' personal touch."
One day, though, one day his skills would be up to Sojiro's standards. Perhaps he'd even be better one day.
"Oh no, I haven't even been here for a full year yet." Nor was he meant to stay for long, but he hoped that maybe he'd be able to stay. "But I used to be really into detectives when I was younger. The original Detective Prince, Shirogane Naoto, visited my hometown once."
"Oh, my name is Amamiya Ren, by the way. I've been living in the attic here all year."
' Last time I visited Leblanc was more of an internet cafe, the late Sakura-San I knew was an older woman who had inherited the cafe from her late mother. ' Of course they were both talking about different Sakura-Sans, but it was still amusing how alike they all were. Though Akechi was quite sure that no matter what he knew the curry would always be perfect no matter who made it. After all, the original recipe was their signature dish. ' Oh, have you now? ' Hearing the mention of Shirogane did he perk up, recognizing the female detective's name. ' That was....during the Inaba incident, correct? I'll actually let you in on something, I've been known as a Detective Prince jussssttt a bit longer than Shirogane. ' A cheeky wink. ' Ah, I'll take your house blend by the way. It's a pleasure Amamiya-Kun. ' Amamiya...haha, how ironic that he shared the same name as his previous acquaintance. ' My name is Kogoro Akechi. '

"I'll be right with you, sir!" Ren chirped when he noticed someone had entered the cafe, his customer service voice in full effect. He was just finishing setting up a fresh pot of coffee to brew. Once he had everything set, he turned his attention to the new arrival.
Or perhaps this wasn't exactly as new of a new arrival as Ren thought. He seemed to be pretty comfortable, like he'd been there before. Plus, he looked... familiar somehow? Ren couldn't put his finger on it, but he felt like he'd seen him before.
"Hello, is this you're first time here, Mister? I feel like I've seen you before, but I could be wrong."
' Ah, there you are! I almost thought I came in at a bad time. ' He'd chuckle as his attention turned to the ravenette. Large brown hues fluttered as he observed him, head tilting as he was consumed with his own thoughts. Though it wasn't until the barista asked if this was his first time here. ' Oh, I suppose? Last time I was here the interior was a bit different. Is this establishment still owned by Sakura-San? ' his fingertip tapped against his chin as he found himself looking all over the small cafe. Though that honestly was a few years ago.
' Though I see you're still serving coffee and curry. I'm sure Sakura-San's recipe will always be delicious no matter how long it's been. ' A gentle friendly smile was given by the older detective. And then there was the mention of perhaps knowing him. A light tut of laughter. ' Perhaps, I use to be a popular detective here in the city. Though I'm not sure I can say the same for you? Were you here in Tokyo seven years ago? '
