Louder distressed noises.

Nostrils flare and crimson eyes glaring down at the ‘retaliating’ petite figure that stood beneath him. What a troublesome fellow, his master is being. Accusing him of such disrespectful meanings, when all the man saw of the master was a comfortable spot to rest his head. He could hardly think ill or lowly of the young man even if his actions would contradict that at time. 

Finding comfort and peace when being so close to Alex, it was hard, even for Hijikata, to feel relaxed and drop his guard. Something that seemed almost impossible for him to do. Always being on guard, tense, and ready to snap at the smallest disturbance or threat that would even dare make its appearance near him, especially near his master.

Although, right now... Alex had the right of it. Leave it to Hijikata Toshizou to make things weird, even when he meant well enough but his dear master’s proposition would hardly go unrecognized. Would such a thing be permissible for the Berserker to do? It had been a very long time since he would do such a thing... When was it? It was when he still walked this Earth as a living being. To allow Alex to use him as a resting spot was one thing, but to allow himself this comfort with the other? Even he was unsure, although, rejecting such an offer was something he would surely regret.

                    “I see...”

Came his quiet response. Gloved hands carefully placed over tanned digits and squeezing ever so gently, as to not cause any sort of harm.
