The Power of Teamwork✨

I love this scene because even though at this point Bakugo has no idea who Kirishima is and Kirishima finds Bakugo angry and unmanly, they step up at the same time and move in complete synch. It shows how naturally compatible they are. 

And here, it’s Kirishima speaking but it sounds like something Bakugo would say (not as calmly though) Even though Bakugo is very uncooperative at this stage, he seems perfectly fine with Kirishma. 

Not only are they compatible with their quirks but they both have a similar sense of determination and resolve and for Bakugo that’s everything. During the sports festival, he’s still unsure when Kirishima points out their compatible quirks. 

He’s like “ok yeah you have a point but I need somebody with guts and idk if you can actually handle that”

It’s only after Kirishima tells him that he’s unwavering and determined to get the ten million that he accepts him. He sees that Kirishima has the same drive he has and that earns his respect. (He’s so certain of it that he brings it up later when Kirishima needs reassurance.)

It’s clear that whenever those two fight together they will move perfectly in synch like it’s the most natural thing.

And look  how savage they both look because they’re both thinking that they have the perfect opportunity to pass the test now. Even though Kirishima is cheerful and friendly, he can get just as intense during a battle!

The Boku No Hero Academia Season 3 Vol. 6 Drama CD is about Kaminari tagging along with Bakugou & Kirishima after they ran off at the start of the Provisional License Exam’s first test. Here’s the audio + translation! Enjoy~

Kirishima: Sup, Kirishima Eijirou here! We students of Class A are here to undergo the Provisional License Exam. For the first test, as Midoriya said, it’s a first come first served basis where you pass as long as you can get to the finish line, so there’s no need to fight other classmates. Because of that, he said we should move as a class in its entirety, well, that’s what he said but…Bakugou just went off by himself, so I had no choice but to follow him as well.

Kirishima: Hey, wait up, Bakugou! Hey! I said wait up!

*grabs Bakugou*

Bakugou: Huh? Just why exactly do I need to wait for YOU, Shitty Hair!?

Kirishima: I told you to not go about so carelessly! We might get ambushed by students from other schools!

Bakugou: Then if that happens, all I gotta do is just blast them away with my explosions! If you don’t want to get caught, then let go of me!

*pushes him away*

Kirishima: Bakugou!!

Kaminari: Hey, Kirishima!!

Kirishima: Kaminari? Why are you here?

Kaminari: I saw you guys just ran off at the start of the exam, so I was thinking, “Just where are they going?” Then when I chased after you guys, I noticed that all our other classmates disappeared too, so I was like, “I guess I just gotta follow you and Bakugou instead…”

Kirishima: What the heck? Well, it’s all good. Working in a team of three instead of two will increase our chances of clearing this test!

Kaminari: All right then, let’s do this!

Kirishima: Just try not to electrocute us.

Kaminari: You don’t need to worry about that! Check out this new costume of mine! Hatsume-san and Power Loader from the Support Class made this for me! There’s some new functions too!

Kirishima: New functions?

Kaminari: To put it simply, I can freely use as much electricity as I want!

Kirishima: Freely? That’s amazing!

Kaminari: I know right!? It’s gonna be a new me! Call me the New Kaminari!

Kirishima: But if you use too much power, you’ll just say “Ueee, ueee!”

Kaminari: I’m not zapping everything in sight anymore, so I can control the amount of electricity I emit! The New Kaminari is not going to do the “Uee uee” anymore!

Kirishima: Woahhhh then it’ll be a good fit with my hardening and Bakugou’s explosions! It might go something like this!

*Kirishima imagines a scenario*

Kirishima: The enemy is coming! I’ll use my hardening to shield you guys. While I’m doing that, Bakugou and Kaminari, you guys go on the offense!

Bakugou: All right, got it! I’ll throw my explosions from the right. Kaminari, I’m counting on you to take the left!

Kaminari: Sure— YOU’RE COUNTING ON ME!?

*end of imagined scenario*

Kirishima: Yeah, it’ll be something like that!

Kaminari: Hmm, that’s indeed quite marvelous teamwork, Kirishima-kun. But you see…the Bakugou in your imagination, do you really think he’ll say “All right, got it!” SO NICELY!? And do you REALLY think he would say to me “I’m counting on you to take the left!” !??

Kirishima: I guess he wouldn’t…

Kaminari: Obviously he wouldn’t! If we’re thinking about this realistically, then it’ll go like this.

*Kaminari imagines a scenario*

Kirishima: The enemy is coming!! I’ll use my hardening to shield you—

Bakugou: GET OUT OF THE WAY, SHITTY HAIR! I’M GOING TO BLAST THOSE EXTRAS WITH MY EXPLOSIONS! DIEEE!!!!!!!

*explodes*

Kaminari: It’ll go something like that.

Kirishima: Yeah, you’re right.

Kaminari: Besides, it’s pretty much impossible to have Bakugou cooperate with us.

Bakugou: Just what exactly are you saying is impossible, dunce face!?

Kaminari: Well you haven’t done it yet, so! And can you at least call me by my name?? Or KamiDen for short.

Bakugou: I don’t even care about that! What I’m saying is that there’s NOTHING impossible that I can’t do!

Kirishima: Okay then Bakugou, can you actually work with us on a team?

Bakugou: OF COURSE I CAN!

Kaminari: OH REALLY? How exactly?

*Bakugou imagines a scenario*

Bakugou: Those extras will all of a sudden chase after us. I blast them to pieces with my explosions. You guys will watch from the sidelines. Once the enemies are down, you hit them with the ball and we pass the first exam! IT’S FREAKING EASY!!!

Kirishima: NO, IT’S TOO EASY!!

Kaminari: AND YOU’RE NOT EVEN TEAMING UP WITH US! YOU’LL JUST BE FIGHTING ALONE!

Bakugou: Well you guys would get caught in my explosion, so making you stand on the sidelines is teamwork!

Kaminari: There must be a better way of working together.

Kirishima: Yeah! What if there’s a bunch of enemies, and they run away before the smoke clears from your explosions?

Bakugou: They won’t run away!!!

Kaminari: How about that bridge over there? What if your explosions causes it to break, and it falls on us?

Bakugou: That won’t happen either!

Kaminari: HOW WOULD YOU KNOW!?

Bakugou: Listen up. I’m going to surpass All Might and be the Number One Hero! You think this stupid Provisional License Exam is even a match for me?

Kaminari: Bakugou, you have way too much pride.

Kirishima: Well, I understand what Bakugou is feeling. We’re aiming to be pros, right? Not just pro-heroes, but an ideal hero! In order to do this, we need to pass the Provisional License Exam with flying colors!

Kaminari: So the Provisional License Exam is just a rites of passage or something?

Kirishima: Bakugou probably thinks that, right?

Bakugou: Obviously!

Kaminari: Ughhh, gross. You’re both way too ambitious. Don’t bring me into this. Man, I shouldn’t have followed you guys after all.

Kirishima: Then why the heck did you follow us, Kaminari?

Kaminari: I told you already! You guys just ran off so I felt lonely and followed!

Bakugou: Then don’t bother us, you piece of crap!

Kaminari: Why do you have to call me names like that!?

Kirishima: Come on, Bakugou! I told you to stop that! We have to work together with the three of us.

Bakugou: I’d rather not.

Kirishima: I told you to cut it out!

*whoosh*

Kirishima: Watch out!

*pushes Bakugou*

Kirishima: What is this!?

Kaminari: Kirishima!!

Kirishima: Damnit, let go of me!! Ahh!!

Kaminari: Kirishima became a meatball!? That guy over there…his uniform…he’s from Shiketsu Academy!
