just finished reading Jekyll & Hyde. my theory is that the reason everybody finds Hyde's appearance so repulsive and creepy is because he somewhat resembles Jekyll, but they thought there is no way he could be Jekyll, because how could Dr Jekyll commit such heinous acts, resulting in some weird case of uncanny valley where Hyde is a guy who looks and acts kinda like Jekyll but still is not Jekyll.
