Relena & Heero

Hi,

Hello all, I’ve been doing well, no worries. Just been pleasantly busy.

When I logged into this account, it was filled with messages of appreciation and love and I felt both warm and sad. I don’t mean to abandon anyone, but I wasn’t sure when I could come back so I didn’t want to say anything until I made a decision.

This post came from a forum response I made to a thread whether or not (in my case) 1xR would have kids and what kind of parents would they be. 

I want to state a disclaimer. First, I think it's easier to tell if someone would want kids than if they WOULDN'T want kids. Kids mean many different things to many different people is why. And it depends not only on personality, but the time in their life, and who they're with. 

One thing that really surprises me is how many people feel that Relena wouldn't want children. I think there are two camps, those who see Relena as married to her work and focus on several of her "harder" characteristics which may or may not take over her personality. And then there are those who focus on her "softer" ones or both and don't believe it would take over her personality.

Rewatch Revisit - Episode 02 - Heero’s true self and the way Relena’s actions impress upon him 

Hello there, I’ve been quiet lately, dealing with real life stuff and hanging on the forums. I’ve been posting my rewatches there and I found that episode 02 was lacking in what I really wanted to make a point about so I gathered the relevant gifs and added more to it. If you are on the forum, you can find it there but if not, here we go. These are the points I found that the writers were trying to show us about their characters:

Relena goes to stop Heero. She seems nosy and stupid for messing with someone like that, but the truth is that Relena's personality won't let her ignore someone or something she can help. She wants to stop him from hurting someone and honestly, she's a bit curious too. This is the excitement she's been subconsciously been wanting, and she's immature and reckless so she doesn't take the proper precautions to protect herself. Honestly, I think Relena had stars in her eyes about the situation. The mysterious handsome young boy who she must save from doing something hurtful...she didn't take his threats and behavior seriously until the moment he pulls a gun on her. Then you can see it all hit home.

Heero, I've spoken about it somewhere since I started this rewatch but I realized that Heero may have been having an internal debate with himself once Relena shows up. Either that, or he's already resigned to kill her and is simply grieving somewhat before he has to do it. When he calls her name, there's sadness and kindness in his voice and eyes because he doesn't want to kill an innocent again. There's no doubt in my mind that Heero was going to kill Relena, but I get the feeling that he had decided to kill himself after destroying his gundam anyway, because then he would have no purpose on Earth and no way to get back to space and no desire to live.

Relena's act of kindness is so huge for Heero here. No one's ever helped him or been his friend as far as we can tell (cept the little girl for two seconds) because he never lets anyone get close to him and he moves on so quickly. He's never had anyone know about his hardships or mission or help him on them, but here the innocent girl he was already regretting killing rips her expensive party dress and bandages the wounds of her would-be killer. This completely shakes Heero's conditioning to his very core. This wasn't in the manual and he doesn't even know how to respond or deal with this. You can see the exact moment the real Heero comes out

I think this is the start of Heero's feelings (whatever you believe they are) toward Relena. From this point on, I don't think Heero could kill Relena if he wanted to. Heero has literally no one in the world that cares about him or has been kind to him and he's just come out of some pretty rough training/conditioning. Relena's kindness is able to get to him on an insanely deep level that he can't understand yet. Relena is already someone "special" to him, as in the normal rules don't apply to her anymore, no matter how much he tries to apply them.
