I AM THE BRIDGE
Let the worlds pull.
Let reality stretch at every seam.
I do not stand upon the bridge.
I hold it.
There was never only a tunnel between worlds.
There were people—
straining, stumbling, choosing each other
Over and over again.

I finally finished Hero Pose™️ Ravio! Yippee!

Hair Brushing (take two)
Wind notices Bunny’s hair is messy and decides to do something about it, whether Bunny likes it or not.

So he didn’t understand when Wind stomped over and stood before him, face twisted and arms crossed.
“We’re fixing your hair. Come with me.” And he turned, storming off as if Bunny’s unruly hair was a personal offence to him. Maybe it was, for all Bunny knew. When Wind turned, eyes narrowed, he quickly pushed himself to his feet and followed. They were staying the night at Selmie’s, after a brief pop in to let her know the monster had been dealt with turned into her insisting they get some proper, safe rest within her fire-warmed home.
Wind halted them by Warriors, who looked just as baffled as Bunny. Bunny hadn’t spent any time with their Captain since changing forms, could hardly bear to look at him. He had picked up on how difficult it was for the man to trust the others, and though he had never intended to transform back, he had, and he had no doubt he’d broken Warriors’ fragile trust in him.
How could he look the man in the eyes now?
Wind did not seem to care for his inner turmoil.
“You need to help me fix his hair,” Wind demanded, dropped to his knees by Warriors to lean across him and search through his bag.
Warriors didn’t seem to mind the intrusion upon his personal space, though he did appear confused. “I am sorry?”
“You will be if you don’t help. Where’s your brush?”
“Wind, slow down.” Warriors pushed Wind back, holding him at arms-length. “What is going on?”
Wind huffed, as if frustrated no one could read his mind. Bunny remained standing, awkward and uncomfortable. “Bunny. His hair is all messy. You never let my hair get that bad, and his is so much longer than mine. We have to fix it.”
Bunny averted his gaze before he could meet either of their eyes, embarrassed. It wasn’t that bad, was it? Besides, he had tied it up so no one would notice it was a little messy, that he didn’t have it in him to bother with looking after it.
Warriors gave a thoughtful hum, and Bunny knew he was appraising him, knew the man’s eyes were roaming every knot in Bunny’s hair and wondering how he could ever let it get this messy. “I see,” was all he said. Bunny was certain he intended to say more, but kept it to himself; Bunny wasn’t sure if it would be worse, had Warriors chosen to share his disgust.
Wind located the brush swiftly, and while Bunny kept his eyes on the ground, he allowed Wind to manoeuvre him so that his back faced both Wind and Warriors. “Alright,” Wind said once Bunny had settled. “We have to take your hair out. Is that okay?”
Bunny nodded. He had looped a stray piece of thread around his hair, leaving it in a tight and knotty bun that he hadn’t even considered letting loose. Now, one of them carefully unwound the thread, setting it to the side. His hair fell down his back in terribly knotted pink waves. Bunny winced, the sensation uncomfortable.
“Okay. We might need to uh… pulled some of these tangles out by hand first,” Wind said.
“We will be careful not to hurt you,” Warriors promised, and then fingers were in Bunny’s hair. Instinctive stiffness quickly faded away with a content sigh as warmth washed up his spine. True to their word, both Wind and Warriors were careful, leaving only the pleasant, tingling sensation of fingers running through his hair, turning his brain into content mush. He shifted slightly, pulled his legs closer so he could rest over them, his eyes slipping shut as a peace he hadn’t felt in months, years even, settled over his shoulders. Knots were carefully pulled apart into smaller, more manageable chunks that the hairbrush could tackle, and with each run of their fingers, Bunny leaned farther into his legs.
Had Warriors not spoken, Bunny might have fallen asleep before they were finished: “Okay. I will try the hairbrush now. I promise I will do my best not to hurt you, but…”
“But your hair is a fucking mess,” Wind finished. Warriors hummed, whether to admonish or in agreement, Bunny wasn’t certain. The hairbrush settled in his hair then, tentative and cautious, and as Warriors slowly worked the rest of the knots out of his hair, Bunny settled back into that calm, mushy state of contentment and wondered if this could maybe continue forever.
Instead, Warriors continued as he worked: “You do not need to be embarrassed about asking for help,” he said, to Bunny’s confusion. He opened his eyes, tilted his head slightly in question. “I do not mind lending my brush until we can get you one. There is no shame in asking; it is not your fault you do not have any equipment, when you were trapped in that form.”
They thought… he was too embarrassed to ask for help? Neither of them had realised he simply didn’t care enough to look after his hair, and Bunny wouldn’t correct them even if he had his voice, not when the shame ran deep into his bones.
And beyond that, they had thought he had been trapped as a rabbit? It was better than the alternative of them knowing the truth, that he had done that to himself in a final act of desperation to have some control, to free himself from the never-ending cycle of adventure after adventure, heartbreak after heartbreak. Yes, this was much better than them knowing that he was a failure, that he was too weak to handle the aftermath of his quests when none of them had struggled like he had.
Even if Bunny had his voice, he knew he would never tell them the shameful truth. And at this point… he didn’t think he would ever recover his voice. But maybe it was what he deserved, for destroying Koholint.
He sure didn’t deserve Warriors and Wind looking after him, but attempting to communicate that would be far more effort than it was worth, when the two of them were on a mission.
As Warriors finished brushing his hair, he murmured, “Your hair is very nice.”
Bunny frowned, turned his head slightly to the man and tilted it in question.
“It’s a really cool shade of pink,” Wind elaborated for him. “And it’s like…”
“It is thick and wavy,” Warriors finished for him. “I am jealous.”
Wind snickered. “That’s because you have to spend so much time and money on your hair to keep it looking like that. I bet you’d look like a wet cat without all that product.”
“Thank you, Wind. Bunny, would you like me to braid it for you to keep it from getting messy again come morning?”
Bunny blinked, the words unexpected. He wanted to say you don’t have to do that for me, don’t waste the energy, but he had no voice, and Warriors took his hesitance as acceptance. The brush was set to the side, Bunny’s hair gathered into Warriors’ hands. Wind watched on as Warriors began to make quick work of the braid, never pulling too hard. He was done within no time, with Wind tying Bunny’s scavenged thread around the tail of the braid. Warriors set it gently against Bunny’s back when he was done, where it rested between his shoulder blades.
Bunny didn’t know how to thank the two of them, when he hadn’t his voice. This hadn’t been necessary, the two of them taking care of him, but were he in their position, he knew he would have done the same. Besides, with this braid, he wouldn’t need to touch his hair again for some time, hopefully long enough for him to figure out a way to change back to a rabbit and fix everything again.
But for tonight, he shifted, turning to face the two of them. He didn’t know Hylian sign, but he gave them the best smile he could muster up, alongside a dip of his head, and they understood.
“You are welcome,” Warriors said.
“Damn right,” Wind added. “Just come to one of us next time, before it gets this bad again, okay?”
Bunny wouldn’t let them know there would not be a next time, but he nodded regardless, and they smiled, satisfied. He didn’t understand why, but… that left a little bundle of warmth crackling within him for the rest of the evening.
PLATONIC DOMESTIC FLUFF HOURS??? LET'S GOOOOO
"... Wind stomped over and stood before him, face twisted and arms crossed. 'We’re fixing your hair. Come with me.'" Yess, my child!! You have realized that aggressive kindness is the only way to deal with this silly bunny guy ৻( •̀ ᗜ •́ ৻)
"He had picked up on how difficult it was for the man to trust the others, and though he had never intended to transform back, he had, and he had no doubt he’d broken Warriors’ fragile trust in him." Noooo they think you were cursed!! He's probably just still dealing with the shock of their grumpy pink pet turning into a grumpy pink person!
"Bunny wasn’t sure if it would be worse, had Warriors chosen to share his disgust." They NEED to get you in therapy. Your self-hatred is getting out of hands, hun (•́ ᴖ •̀)
"Now, one of them carefully unwound the thread, setting it to the side. His hair fell down his back in terribly knotted pink waves." I felt that. EUGHHH I FELT THATTTT. As someone with long hair that very easily gets tangled, leaving it knotty is icky and brushing it out is the WORST.
"'Okay. We might need to uh… pulled some of these tangles out by hand first,' Wind said. 'We will be careful not to hurt you,' Warriors promised" Aww I love themmm, they know he's jumpy and they don't want to startle him, so they're walking him through what they're doing to his hair. THEY CARE ABOUT HIM SO MUCH (੭ ´ ^ `;)੭♡
"Had Warriors not spoken, Bunny might have fallen asleep before they were finished" gah I love how he still trusts them so much, despite his worries about Warriors now hating him/finding him disgusting
"Instead, Warriors continued as he worked: 'You do not need to be embarrassed about asking for help,' he said" YES. Warriors, drill this lesson into this silly's head. Repeat it to him until he internalizes it and never doubts that you all would throw everything out the window to help him ever again.
"Neither of them had realised he simply didn’t care enough to look after his hair, and Bunny wouldn’t correct them even if he had his voice, not when the shame ran deep into his bones." Deniallll. That right there, that's embarrassment. Take care of yourself better aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh
"Yes, this was much better than them knowing that he was a failure, that he was too weak to handle the aftermath of his quests when none of them had struggled like he had." Boi, you had like twice the number of quests of even the next most experienced Link in this Chain. OF COURSE YOU STRUGGLED. OMG. Hugs, now. Give them to him. He's getting worse.
"Wind snickered. 'That’s because you have to spend so much time and money on your hair to keep it looking like that. I bet you’d look like a wet cat without all that product.'" Mandated younger sibling Wind moment. I love this child dearly
"He was done within no time, with Wind tying Bunny’s scavenged thread around the tail of the braid. Warriors set it gently against Bunny’s back when he was done, where it rested between his shoulder blades." My "give Legend a braid" propaganda is being fed, yippee!!
"Besides, with this braid, he wouldn’t need to touch his hair again for some time, hopefully long enough for him to figure out a way to change back to a rabbit and fix everything again." Bunny, I think you and the Chain have very different definitions of what "fixing everything" looks like, and they are not going to be happy with your version of it
"He didn’t understand why, but… that left a little bundle of warmth crackling within him for the rest of the evening." Because they CARE about you and you like that someone cares about you because you DESERVE TO HAVE SOMEONE CARE ABOUT YOU AAAAAA
I'm calm. I'm calm and rational and normal about these characters.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THISS!! As always, it was a delight to read!
In apology for taking eons to respond to this, I have made a doodle.
I hope to give it the lineart and coloring it deserves eventually, but I'm leaving on a trip in a few days so things are hectic -_-
happy pride to the aroace character ever
if you ever think that putting tags with compliments under people's art does nothing. i have some of kind tags screenshoted and saved on my phone and i sometimes look at them like its photos of my dead wife

figuring out how to draw these lil guys
Love that Ryland Grace is the opposite of so many male protagonist "heroes" in media and yet he's still so incredibly brave, resilient, and strong. That flimsy little science teacher saves the day.
But he also,
Throws fits when things don't go his way. Not a "I'm a bad bitch" destroying everything-type fit, but tossing a trash can, breaking a screen-type fit.
Cries. A lot.
Pleads. He begs.
Doesn't answer the call to action.
Shows weakness. Being a coward and being fearful are two things he defines himself with.
Doesn't end up with the girl. In fact, that girl isn't even interested and he isn't, either.
Cherishes friendship over a romantic plot or something stereotypically brave like, "I'm going to save Rocky so I can save his world." No, he wants to save his friend, first and foremost.
Squeaks. He squeals. He screams, loudly and very high pitched. He whines. He complains. He physically struggles to open a jar. He's clumsy as hell. He makes some of the least graceful noises one can make.
Is not afraid to be the primitive species lowkey.
I love him and everything he stands for as a male protagonist. Men need to know that they can be just like Ryland Grace and still be just as much of a hero and a man.
Bunny gets his name (again)
Hyrule speaks before he thinks. The nickname ends up sticking.

“Wild, Bunny, we’re leaving!” They both jumped, whipping around to Hyrule, who now stood by the cave’s entrance, suddenly barren of the oil tarp that had been there not so long ago. The fire had been snuffed out, and the other heroes were gone.
But that wasn’t what Link focussed on. Nor was it for Wild.
“‘Bunny’?”
Hyrule blinked, as if he hadn’t realised he’d said it himself. “What… Oh! I didn’t mean—it kind of just stuck. Sorry, I didn’t mean to call you that. I’m sure it’s weird for you. But, uh… we do need another name for you, other than Link—that gets confusing really quickly, as I’m sure you can imagine.”
Link huffed a laugh and dipped his head. And… if he was honest with himself, the name wasn’t terrible. It wasn’t related to his hero’s title, The Hero of Legend, at all, and it suited this him better than anything else he could think of.
Besides, when he found a way to shift back to a rabbit again, they wouldn’t need to change to Bunny again from anything else they might choose to name him.
Conveying that wordlessly to Hyrule wasn’t easy, but after a few gestures and hand waves, Wild caught on to what he was trying to say. “You don’t mind that name?” Wild asked, to which Link nodded quickly.
Hyrule breathed a sigh of relief. “Okay! That saves us a lot of time thinking up something new. Now, Wild, Bunny—shall we head out before we get left behind?” They nodded and set out together.
And from then on, Link was known as Bunny.
EEEE ANOTHER SNIPPET!! POST-REVEAL, TOO!!!
I wonder what he and Wild were chatting about before Hyrule called out to them, hmmm.
"And… if he was honest with himself, the name wasn’t terrible. It wasn’t related to his hero’s title, The Hero of Legend, at all, and it suited this him better than anything else he could think of." Aww, that's sweet!! He found a new identity with them that doesn't make him as uncomfortable <3
"Besides, when he found a way to shift back to a rabbit again, they wouldn’t need to change to Bunny again from anything else they might choose to name him." Bunny, what do you mean. Have you discussed this with the others?? Do they know this is your plan??? Because I have a feeling the answer to both of those is a resounding NO. They are not gonna let you shrink yourself back into a rabbit forever to avoid your problems now that they know you're a hylian with thoughts and feelings, my dear boy. It simply will not happen. <( •̀ ᴖ •́ <)
"Conveying that wordlessly to Hyrule wasn’t easy, but after a few gestures and hand waves, Wild caught on to what he was trying to say." Ohh interesting; does he not know sign language? Or does he, and the problem is it that the others don't know that same type due to being from different timelines ( ╹ -╹)?
"And from then on, Link was known as Bunny." yayayay! He will totally see this as a new start and work through some of his problems alongside his newfound family that is very willing to help him, I'm sure.... (¬_¬)
Thank you for the snippet!! I love getting a glimpse of how the Links are interacting now that Bunny is a hylian again <3
my personal take on the matter
"We both know I can't go back. The townsfolk wouldn't understand."
"But I think I do. And together, I think we can show them how."
1 day left, vote bloodmoon!!
@vsmprarerpairstourney I have created bribery ( ◡̀_◡́)

Pink Bunny again!!
I’m back!! I’m going to be posting snippets as I work through the second half of this fic. Today’s snippet featuring Bunny waking up in his Hylian form again!

✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ .
Waking up was one of the most difficult things Link had done. Normally, it wasn’t hard; lately, it had been a struggle to pull himself into the conscious world when all he wanted to do was sleep, whether it be because his body felt heavy and living within his dreamland was easier, or because a part of him hoped he might find himself back on that island. This time was different, like a thick sludge had been poured over him, weighing down his limbs, and his eyelids felt sticky and refused to open without a great deal of effort. For a beat, he wondered if he was sick—could rabbits even get sick? Perhaps it was different for him, since he had the immune system of a Hylian, but Din, he hoped that wasn’t the case.
When he shifted, stretching out stiff arms, he realised what was wrong.
He was no longer a rabbit.
Link stiffened. Flexed fingers he hadn’t used in months and winced with every creak and crack of his joints as they aligned themselves back to how they were meant to be, when they had been shrunken and twisted into rabbit paws for so long now. He couldn’t recall what it was like to hold something, except…
A sword. He had picked up a sword, hadn’t he? While his memory was patchy, he couldn’t forget the gentle voice calling to him, begging for his help. Even with his broken leg, he could not ignore it—he had never been able to ignore a call for help, no matter how exhausted or shattered he felt—and so he had hopped closer, pain easily ignored when the voice grew louder, more desperate.
He had seen a sword. He had seen the towering frame of a monster, its back facing him. And he had seen Sky, someone who had treated him only with kindness, who had played him a soothing song that eased the pain weighing down his heart and helped him drift off when he had felt lost once again. Sky’s gentle face and warm, comforting eyes had been twisted in pain, his skin a deep purple that told Link he would not last much longer. And that monster’s hand—it had been wrapped around Sky’s throat, pressing down to crush. To kill. Link had seen red. He had grabbed the sword and then…
And then…
And then he was here, waking up in his awful, heavy Hylian body when he had made a vow to himself to never return to it.
*
Bonus:
“Is he waking up?”
“Maybe. It looks like it, doesn’t it?”
“Stop crowding ‘im! Ye’ll only stress ‘im out when ‘e wakes.”
“What if he’s dangerous?”
“I’m about tuh be dangerous, cub.”
OMGGGGG I clicked on the notif before I processed that it was a mention from you and I was joyfully stunned for a moment when I read the title
THE AFTERMATH OF THE (partial) REVEAL. IT'S HERE.
"lately, it had been a struggle to pull himself into the conscious world when all he wanted to do was sleep, whether it be because his body felt heavy and living within his dreamland was easier, or because a part of him hoped he might find himself back on that island." firstly, same, Link. I feel your struggle. Secondly, lsdflkajslkdjflksa the Koholint callback, my poor boyyy. He'll never be able to sleep again without thinking of her when he wakes up and it makes me want to cry <(; ^ ;<)
"... he realised what was wrong. He was no longer a rabbit." aaaa, it's happeninggggg (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)
"And he had seen Sky, someone who had treated him only with kindness, who had played him a soothing song that eased the pain weighing down his heart and helped him drift off when he had felt lost once again." you want me to cry. That's what this is. GAH i love them DEARLY. LU obsession, I can feel you returning...
"And then he was here, waking up in his awful, heavy Hylian body when he had made a vow to himself to never return to it." Sorry, Link. It's a canon event to break a vow you make on-screen at the start of a story. But awww poor boy (again)--he must be given allll the hugs by Sky and Twi, he MUST ( ᴗ͈_ᴗ͈)
“What if he’s dangerous?” Nooo Wild, c'mon! Give him a chanceee, he's been through enough!
“I’m about tuh be dangerous, cub.” Heck yeah, Twi, get 'im. I love seeing Twilight protective of Legend, it's so sweet <3
laksjdlkfalksjfhsgsnsnsn thank you so much for sharing this, aaaaa
I don’t understand what Hyrule uses to keep his sword strapped to his back, it’s truly a mystery. I’ve looked for hours for any reference and I’ve concluded now it’s just one of his powers.
