Hello, my name is Charly and I’m 28, we’ll, 25 plus shipping and handling. I’m the only child of Chuck and Missy Swiger of Reynoldsville, WV and I’m the wife of SSgt. Andrew Peterson of the USAF and we’re currently stationed at Edwards AFB in CA. Well, my husband is currently in CA, I’ve been back home in WV since late November. I’ve been caring for my Mom since a horrible hunting accident. She fell 12 feet out of her blind on the first day of rifle season and sustained quite a few injuries: broke all but one rib on the left side, punctured and collapsed the left lung, damaged the spleen, tore a four inch hole in her diaphragm, cracked her skull, and bones in her both her neck and back. She’s now made it about halfway through her recovery. Meanwhile, my Dad hasn’t fully recovered from pleurisy on his lungs and possibly shingles. He’s hoping to have more answers at his upcoming appointment with his kidney specialist because he also has stage 4 of 5 of a kidney disease.

When I was a little girl, I can vaguely recall my Dad buying a 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback to be restored. He paid a man for over 20 years to have it done exactly the way he’d always dreamed. I can remember going to the gentleman’s house once every year or so to check out the progress and talk about the future plans. During one visit, he saw another Mustang the man was working on and it was a very dark green with lots of chrome and my Dad was sure that was the color he wanted. The last time I visited, my Dad saw his car and his dreams were suddenly a reality…well, almost. His car, dark green, all chrome, and all original parts, just like he paid for. The only thing that needed to complete it was the restoration of the inside of the car and he had already picked out the guy for the job. My Dad saved and worked my entire life for this car. I was so proud and so happy to see his dreams a reality. But when my Dad went to pick it up, it was stripped of all original parts and the man had fled the state. My Dad was COMPLETELY crushed. What he scraped, and saved for, and did without, was all for NOTHING. I still can’t believe it, it makes my stomach hurt writing this, but seeing is believing (see photos attached).

Now that his dream car is home, he can’t even look at it. You can see the heartbreak in his eyes; no joke. We don’t even talk about it because he has so much going on in his life and so many responsibilities. He could never afford all original parts all over again. He could never trust anyone to keep it at their place to do the work again. I’m writing in desperation. My Dad is a wonderful man, not because he’s my Dad. I couldn’t count on one hand how many people he has helped out of the kindness of his heart. He helps people with cancer get their medicines, he’s helped people start their business, he blew up a truck driving in a flood to get a guy his insulin! He does things for people on the daily and never expects a thing in return. Just this once, I’d love for something nice to be done for him. I’d love to see his dreams a reality all over again. With everything going on in his life right now, I’m certain restoring his baby would give him something to smile about. Please help.
