Starting his career as a baby-faced juvenile tenor in such Warner Brothers musicals as 42nd Street, Gold Diggers of 1933 and Footlight Parade, Powell re-invented himself as a noir tough guy in films like Murder, My Sweet. A staple on the radio since the 1930s, Powell starred in such shows as Richard Diamond, Private Detective and later moved into television as one of the founders of Four Star Productions. Happy Birthday to one of the most versatile actor/director/producers in show business.
