Can we talk about the fact that finland and russia have a. almost the same appearance and b. mostly the same personality with the same twist. Like what’s up with that?

Appearance wise…not really. At least, I don’t see it. The only time they ever look similar is their happy face. Then again, Finland’s sane, so the context is different.

Personality wise, again, it’s quite different. Yes, Finland is described as having it much harder than the other nations, but he’s sane. Russia isn’t.

Another interesting difference to consider: Russia is both terrified of General Winter (he gets attacked by him every year) but he also views him as a friend (he views everyone he meets as a friend).

Meanwhile, Finland is so cold-resistant that General Winter has no effect on him. They also get along well.

what do you think of an aph confederate states oc? i’m thinking of introducing one but i feel that it won’t sit well with others (given the confederate states’ extremely dark history and how ppl these days are more sensitive to racial issues.) should I?

General disclaimer: There is no canon proof that a separate confederate personification existed. Strips thus far have shown that the nations don’t split during civil wars. You can find a post on the topic in my directory.

Personally, I wouldn’t. It’s canon that the personifications don’t always hold the same beliefs as their leaders too…I don’t know. I just think that even if you portrayed history as it was – i.e., situating the historical context without being racist or having a racist intent, obviously– it still wouldn’t be received well given how heated this fandom can get. Then again, I have read very well executed fanfictions depicting Nazi Germany that strike a good balance of sensitivity and striving for historical accuracy.

It’s not canon. It didn’t happen. The only memorable interaction they’ve had in canon is during the April 2009 April Fool’s event.

Fanart does not always = canon 

So it’s canon that the countries are affected by things that happen with their people, and in one of your earlier posts, you stated that America seems to be less affected by these things, but wouldn’t something like 9/11 have a large impact on his heath since it was the world trade center? Also, wouldn’t losing land affect the countries as well?

Yes! I say he’s less affected because he’s a superpower. There’s also the whole Japanese joke where idiots don’t get colds *colds happen to nations when they experience domestic political troubles or have economic issues*

Your question is more speculation, which means that I can’t give a clear answer. There are no real hints from canon to work off of, so I wouldn’t even take this as a theory. Following the above examples, I don’t think America would be affected that much. If it were any other nation, they’d definitely catch a cold and be bed-ridden. Just look to England as a reference – he fell ill from several political conflicts, all of which had devastating economic effects (e.g., The American Revolution, The Napoleonic Wars, and WW2).

Your question is hypothetical, so I can’t give a straight answer. We would need Himaruya to confirm that Austria’s heart is Vienna. Although, you do follow the manga provided in the manga, as different body parts do represent geographic landmasses (e..g, Italy’s right nipple and Corsica, Hungary’s hair clip and Lake Baton, America’s ahoge and Nantucket island, etc).
