never heard silence quite this loud 007
Leaving the bathroom was even hard for Lenny, if she could have it her way, she would stick right by Booker’s side while he was sick the whole time and never have to leave. Except that would mean she’d need some kind of miracle to happen where she could have arms like Elastigirl and reach for everything without leaving him, but that wasn’t the case and she sighed as made the quick journey to the kitchen. It wasn’t hard for her to navigate through the cupboards here, she knew them better than she did her own childhood home, and after retrieveing two water bottles and a container, she filled both of the bottles up with cold water. Taking a big drink for herself before she quickly went back to his room and put the empty container by his bed in case he needed it during the night as something to throw up in.
Making her way back to the bathroom with the two water bottles in hand, she had another big drink, feeling herself sobering more now. “Hey,” Lenny called out quietly, seeing Booker sat in the bathtub. “Do you feel any better?” She asked, crossing the short space until she could sit on the edge, not being phased by his naked self, her only thought was helping him in this moment. “Here, have some of this.” Handing him the second water bottle also filled with cold water, she looked over his wet face and hair for a moment, words being kept back that she wanted to speak, but she didn’t know if now was the right time, so she went for a simple, “I missed you.” She spoke quietly, moving so she was sitting on the bathroom floor, outside of the tub, bring her to his eye level as she leant her head against the side. “You been okay? You know, besides this?”
When he heard her voice, he looked over at her and gave a tiny smile as a silent greeting. He shook his head, “Not really,” Booker shrugged, “But I haven’t been in here long so, maybe a little while longer will help,” He reached out a hand and took the water bottle, taking small sips of it so he didn’t shock his stomach. When he had enough, he reached to set it down right outside the bathtub, in reach of him if he wanted more of it. He was glad when she sat down on the outside of the bathtub, glad he could look at her and hear her voice, “I missed you too,” He said softly, his voice just barely loud enough to be heard over the water. He let out a sigh and looked down at the floor of the tub, “Not really,” He let out a dry laugh before looking back at Lenny, “Tonight was the first time I’ve been out of the house for anything since work in a few weeks,” He hated to admit it, because he felt pathetic, but it was true. He’d boarded himself up inside of the house, or in the backyard, hiding away from everyone-- especially Lenny. The idea of even seeing her had hurt so much that he didn’t want to take any chances.
“I’m glad I went out tonight though,” He pushed some stray hair out of his face, “Even if I did get sick, I’m kind of glad we ran into each other,” Booker had known that, although he wanted it to be easy, it would be difficult not being around her. He had thought it would be best for himself if he didn’t see her but he was so wrong, “I missed you,” He repeated the words she’d said to him just minutes prior.
