Today’s film is Harvest: 3,000 Years​, Haile Gerima​’s 1976 drama about an Ethiopian peasant family that was handpicked for a retrospective Tribeca Film Festival​ screening by none other than longtime Gerima fan Martin Scorsese​ in 2008. Shot on the run, with non-actors, in the midst of a civil war, this is a monumental work from an undersung master making his first film in his native Ethiopia​.
