At school we had a conference on ‘How to choose the right career?’ And the guy doing the conference started asking some of my classmates what they wanted to study at college. Most of them said they wanted to study ‘X’ bc they liked it. Since then, I’ve questioned myself…Why do I want to study Digital Animation?
Since I was in middle highschool people asked me ’ Why don’t you study something related to maths or science if you’re so good at it ??’ And even tho I’m a nerd and I love maths, science and school in general, Digital Animation is still my No. 1 answer.
And I found the answer, after brainstorming and overthinking this weekend. Also I saw a comment on youtube that really inspired me and made me love digital animation even more…
I want to tell a story. I want to make people feel what I felt while playing videogames and watching anime. I want to be part of this <b>big</b> project : creating a videogame. Being part of it. It’s really weird explaining it… Since I was a child I really loved anime and videogames, but I just thought they were fun and entertaining. While growing, I actually started to understand and feel like them. Videogames and Anime made me who I am today. Without them I’m not the Andrea my friends know.
Maybe the trigger was watching Naruto, playing endless hours Kingdom Hearts until beating Repliku, crying while watching Your Lie in April last episode, or the feeling of satisfaction and astonishment when you beat the last boss of a game: Your heart is beating so fast, your hands sweaty, a scream of excitement and relief and even tears of joy.
Videogames and anime became my passion : from the breathtaking scenarios and ost, incredible graphics, smooth battles, heart wrenching stories, character development… Watching and experiencing that made me feel somewhat nostalgic and happy. Because for some people, happiness is on a console or a tv.
I want to move people. Make them feel unforgettable memories. Be part of an amazing project, making people experience the best moment in their life. Talking about how an anime, videogame, or even a mobile app changed their life 180° degrees or how it helped them when they were facing harsh times.
I want people to cry, laugh, shout, meet new people and smile when they remember that old game they played when they were young. That moment when, regardless of your age, you feel like a kid again.
