RYAN: i love u… just not enough to wait to eat RYAN: yes u get to pick RYAN: i trust u to choose deliciously

jade’s arm is raised, another wine bottle in hand, ready to be shattered into pieces, when she hears the knock at her door, followed by an unmistakable voice. any other day and jade might actually be happy, a little excited, but now all jade feels is anger, and betrayal, so she smashes the bottle in her hand against the door, lets the wine soak like blood into the wood, and hopes the other girl can feel that (and her anger) through the layer separating them. “no!!!!!!! leave!!!!! i don’t want to see you!!!!!!”

her knocking falters at the shrill voice and the loud, distinct sound of glass breaking against the door. it’s all part of the process, she tells herself, i probably deserve this. but just because she knows doesn’t mean that jade’s words sting any less, if anything it only stung more. her face falls for a few seconds, and she closes her eyes shut as she tries to regain her composure. valerie plasters on the smallest smile she could manage, more for herself than jade, and opens her eyes. 

(thank god for the door, otherwise jade would have seen her in such a pathetic state.) 

as much as valerie hates the term, she’s damage control. that’s why when she hears glass shattering as her phone continues to vibrate --- she immediately knows it’s jade throwing one of her tantrums again. there’s no surprise there but this time, she’s probably one of the many the girl was angry at. and god only knew just how livid she was right now. val pockets her phone and leaves the comfort of her room, walking briskly to jade’s. she knocks the door; softly at first, then louder when it became apparent she wouldn’t answer. “jade? jade, i know you’re in there. please let me in.”

A laugh escaped Summer’s lips, nodding her head as images of the new intruder cooking like a professional chef crossed her mind. “Imagine coming home and finding our own little Remy.” She giggled, shaking her head slightly at the thought. “I would be both disgusted and fascinated at the same time.”

the giggle she’s been suppressing bubbled over, eyes scrunching up as valerie joined summer in laughing over the mental image. “isn’t it sort of cute, though? mice are much smaller than rats so you know... cuter!” there was a small sigh, but her smile remained. “though, i worry about hygiene in the kitchen so maybe you should catch it?”

SUMMER: i mean, i could stop you but where’s the fun in that? SUMMER: let’s just ad a couple bags of doritos and we’re set for a great night 

RYAN: i promise to keep u accountable RYAN: but i cannot promise to wait for u to start eating RYAN: yes get some dang DESSERT that we can eat together :)

𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗘:  2 steps ahead of u val … 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗘:  just ate three times my body weight in mac n cheese. 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗘:  food coma is coming sooner rather than later 😔

JADE: you’re having a whole feast n you’re not inviting me??????? JADE: this is disrespectful …. i am Angry JADE: i hope u choke on ur rice all alone >:((((((((

‘‘No, I could’ve sworn I saw a tiny little mouse running around the kitchen last night.’‘ An exasperated sigh leaving her lips as she went on and on about the little rodent to the person next to her. ‘‘I’m being 100% serious, in fact, I’ll look for it and show you.’‘

"a tiny little mouse?" she echoed, looking up from her phone, an eyebrow raising. was that what the flash of white last evening had been? she simply assumed it to be pip and had thought nothing of it until now. val stifled any laughter trying to surface. "in the kitchen? like ratatouille?"
