Uma, of course, has rules about where they can and can't go, and she has enough of the respect of the undersea folk and fish that she'll be swiftly told about it if they get into serious trouble. (She's not sending anyone to watch them, but like I said, she's notorious. If someone sees that the children of Uma have come to harm, the news makes its way to her by word of mouth if not by the feel of the ocean itself.) And the kids always come home (to the ship) at night.

They all have their preferences. The eldest twins prefer fast currents, their second-eldest prefers deep places, their younger twins prefer to visit places they've never seen (they're some of the few people in the Descendants universe to discover the Encanto), and the very youngest mostly tags along with someone else.

When they start to go to school, the kids famously refuse to sleep on campus. They attend their classes, they socialize with their classmates, and then they swim off to their family's ship each night.

It's very cool.

All of Huma's kids are generally pretty go-with-the-flow, socially. Even when they're slighted and have to fight back accordingly, they'll usually do it with the easy smiles of children who have been raised to know their own value. They are not insecure.

But when their sense of justice is bothered, those eyes turn red.

Usually just a flash.

Sometimes they're still smiling. Threatening grins, learned on pirate ships.
