I'm not really sure how I'd go about writing the fuckin' multiverse madness yet without tweaking out some but genuinely I just love the idea that he goes around and gains more and more of "himself." This is partially by my experience as a system, and then also influenced by medias like Slay the Princess, where you have to take actions and access more of the Voices to progress throughout the game. I like to imagine the more powerful or scarier ones that enter certain worlds are the ones that have more parts of her in one. (i.e. they're much more terrifying and powerful as an entity comprised of 30 separate "people"/1x1x1x1's/fragments than a 1x1x1x1 with only five put together in one?? If that makes sense).

I imagine also that it becomes quite tiresome--and where part of her clipped/blunt yet regal (at least my interpretation on how a lot of "him" speaks, anyhow, is much more .. formal for lack of a better word) speech comes from--in having to see & repeat the same shit again sometimes. Yes, everything has variety and there's most certainly still much bigger things out there than her but (and I'm definitely projecting here) it probably gets to her . the feeling of being confined and struggling to deal with a 3D body in a 3D reality not built or caring for their presence... at least not in the way one might typically want. It probably kinda feels like being trapped inside a chest full of supposed treasure, except what you really want is outside the box. You eventually find comfort and joy in what is inside, though it takes centuries before that satisfaction comes. A lot of it spent in agony, anger, and pure discontent. And sometimes in the Banlands. Probably some level of dissociation &/or derealization + depersonalization to her environments. Knowing that there's more out there while also experiencing the inherent horror of a body that wasn't previously yours in a reality that isn't yours and everyone kind of Hates you From the Jump in multiple realities and/or you're venerated by a cult-like following that does not fully understand you either ... probably does things to you! And those are only two instances of a potentially unlimited many. Who knows how many pieces she was split into? Part of why her absolute rage towards Telamon & Co. is never really quenched. Whether or not she's a villain doesn't matter to her, it's the complete disregard for his entire existence and the terror of being forced to live MULTIPLE LIVES without getting rid of the thing that ruined his and made that into a plurality for who knows how long . coughs

Addendum: this isn't me retconning him being evil, btw. I love love adore love evil 1x1x1x1 as much as the next guy but this idea has been rolling around in my head for months

AMAZINGGGG POINT in response to someone talking about the c00lgui corrupting them (which is something I enjoy but like .. moreso in fanon frankly because, again, as that person pointed out, it isn't a new storyline in Forsaken at ALL).

There's a video essay I saw a long while back that. I'm not sure how well it'd hold up today, but in memory it was good. The point of it was about the difference of how Madoka Magica worked in making you care and enjoy it while still feeling immense despair & sorrow at what was happening. This was used as a contrast to Magical Girl Site (? iirc) where its just. torture. abuse. sexual trauma. Bam, boom, bam, back-to-back. It gets to a point where its really just torture for the sake of torture / edgy without justification or good depiction and not actual storytelling. Things are heartbreaking because they're dynamic and meaningful. There's something inherently saddening about a father doing his best for his son while also struggling with the ramifications of him fucking around in his youth and not being a good guy but growing from that !!!!

To take that all away is … fine, on a baseline level, I guess? That's your decision as a writer and/or developer to make that call. But shifting gears to the point of a character being unrecognizable from before is already gonna call things into question. Again! Not entirely unheard of to retcon things in heavier dosages. However, whenever I see forsaken it just is all like HORROR ahhh DREAD ahh SUFFERING AHHH AHHH AHH1! And then they remove the few elements that were working for it in making it have like. potential. to be interesting. and impactful. If it's all awful then why are we even rooting for these characters in the first place? Imagining them dead is like their only escape in that kind of world because it's shit no matter what you do at that point 😭 part of what made forsaken have some appeal is that the survivors still had will + bounce off each other, same with killers and killer/survivor relations for some of them I think one of Forsakens' issue aside from like being ran by genuinely some of the worst people alive on and off is that it just suffers from fucking up whatever footing it gets on development and writing. All the cool stuff I thought or think is canon I just end up finding out was things my friends twisted in their own cool spins or interpretations of events. when i revisit the original source material its so different and dude its like… how was the PREVIOUS changes better than the current ones 😭 actually so confounding how does the mark keep getting missed

If it is just already difficult-- if you have a large workload / slower update schedule, and then later down the line end up entirely scrubbing then that's just . Yes, it's plausible, especially given all the circumstances. in no way bad story writing.

But I sure as hell am mourning that slight sliver of positivity we had in such gut-wrenchingly tragic worldbuilding. Not even a silver lining on the cloud anymore.

This is a fictional story with fictional characters, after all. God forbid I get attatched to what little hope we had...
