At some point I started thinking about magic in a way where it is also a symbol for class/wealth and I have been trying to see if I can lean into this more

If it's something that people aren't born with but can learn, it means some people are born with a natural advantage for learning it if their family/community practices it. It can be used to enrich and help communities and humans in general. But it has the problem that those who have it can take advantage over those who don't by controlling or abusing or exploiting them especially for labour

In turn this results in characters who have been hurt by it having an inherent distrust/dislike of those who practice it, which can be excessive and stereotypical at times but did come from an understandable place. It also unintentionally goes with my idea of Alexio and Ashley being lost stepsiblings and I also unintentionally made all the villains magic while most of the others aren't because it gave them such an advantage over regular people

It is not a new idea, I mean a lot of things have worldbuilding where like the protag is a Prince where his royal blood gives him super special magic power. But I am not a fan of the portrayal in these cases that the royal family is genuinely born superior and more important to us regular povos and it goes unquestioned by other characters and it is a good thing actually. I guess this can go hand in hand with worldbuilding where gods are objectively real too but that's a different post entirely

But this also the results of me liking a lot of fantasy where magic is rare and dangerous

So idk it is not a perfect analogy especially for someone drawing images with a sparkly pink tiger in them. Just something that keeps appearing in the back of me head sometimes. But then I am not writing anything I am just drawing stupid shit for 5 likes so I think it is ok 👍

I haven't thought about sameface syndrome in years but these 2 do look exactly the same when I simplify them
