Witch Box is usually wooden box where witches store their tools. Sometimes lid of the Witch Box serves as the little portable altar. Witches which practise so-calledΒ βlonely wayβ store in their box all tools. Situation is different in the Witches groups, because there is usually one box with spare things like candles, incenses etc., but often features of Witch Box belong to drawer in altar.
What should be in Witch Box?
I will write about box of witch, which practise lonely way. So, in Witch Box should be:
Symbols of the God and Goddess - it can be small figures or different symbols. It can be useful, when your box is portable altar too.
Candles - I think itβs obvious. You mustnβt take anything from your altar! You should have set of colored candles or set of most frequently used colored candles (if you donβt use all colors).
Thin candle - to light other candles from it, if you are aesthete and for practical reasons.
Sharpener for candles - I know something like sharpener for candles exists, but I never used it. But if you are aesthete and you like beautiful candles of equal length, you can use it.
Matches - you can use ordinary matches or sulfur-free matches (if you donβt like sulfur smell). You might think Iβm crazy, because sulfur is calledΒ βelement of Satanβ and I wrote βYou can use ordinary matchesβ.Β Nothing could be more wrong! Wiccans believe that all forms, which people give name, in the same moment get power (for example, all evil was named Satan - thus this form in the opinion of the people has some power)
Incenses - they are various form of incenses, but in my opinion the most practical are stick incenses.
Water and salt - they can be useful, when you want to cast a circle. You can use little decorating bottles to store it.
Small dishes for cake and drink - you need it if you want cast a circle outdoor (cake and wine ritual)
Tools like Athame, wand, little whisk, chalice and pentacle - they are basic tools of every Witch, I think I donβt have to explainingβ¦
Rope, chalk or something for delineating a magical circle - but you can use stones, branches or just draw circle on the ground
Compass - you need it to proper spacing of candles, according to the directions of the world.
Book of Shadows (optional) - if you have a lot of space in your Witch Box, you can store your Book of Shadows. I think itβs very good place.
Some talismans (optional)
Tools like crystal ball, Tarot cards, little pendulum (optional)
But remember, itβs only my suggestion. You decide what you need in your box, because it depend on size of your box and many things.
