Hey, same anon from your other blog. I just wanted to ask for some more advice... Sorry... :^0 Recently, my friend has been sad and angry because of some stuff going on in her life, and I don't know what to do. Got any ideas? I want to help her, but I can't do much and I feel useless. One more, my family thinks our friendship is weird because I think about her all the time. How often do you think about each other? How often is too much? (Sorry if that sounds weird. I can't say it any other way)
No problem, anon!
Usually when once of us is upset over something or other, we talk about it, get to the root of the problem, try to give each other advice over what to do or how to deal with the situation. Now I know it can suck a LOT to hear about the problems and not be able to really do anything personally, but in a situation like this the only thing you really CAN do is try to be as supportive, open, and empathic as you can. Sometimes just listening to someoneās problems can help them because that way theyāre letting some of it out instead of bottling it up.
Feeling useless sucks and it can get trying at times, but friends help friends, ya know? Just be supportive and offer your ear - it helps a lot more than you might think it does.
As for your other question, well, with an online or long distance friend/relationship, communication is key. And itās not weird at all to think about someone you donāt get to see. Iāve often had the thought āHey this is something to tell Ashley aboutā or āI wonder what sheād say/do about this?ā and she thinks the same thing a lot as well. Itās perfectly fine, and not weird at all, especially if youāre always talking to each other.
So my advice is to not overthink it too much - thereās no such thing as āthinking about someone too muchā. If someone is incredibly important to you, then of course you want to think about them.
Remember, anon, only the people in a relationship can define it; donāt let other people, even family, put you in a box. What you think about is your business and if you think about your friend a lot, then good for you! Itās a good sign of dedication and a want to make sure it works.
Hope this helped, anon! Thanks for the ask!
