HELL yea, the book talks a lot more about the emotions of the characters and it has some hardhitting lines, even more w the audiobook

EPIC THE MUSICAL RANKINGS

some part of me still loves epic: the musical, and all of me LOVES greek mythology still (albeit i still have some studying to do on that), so of course i have a few opinions about these incredible songs. they might be bad. but let's get to that. i'm ranking these in order of chronology by the way. haven't decided which song is better as a whole compared to the rest yet.

1. THE TROY SAGA 1st: warrior of the mind 2nd: just a man 3rd: the horse and the infant 4th: full speed ahead 5th: open arms (as much as i love that song)

2. THE CYCLOPS SAGA 1st: polyphemus 2nd: my goodbye 3rd: survive 4th: remember them

3. THE OCEAN SAGA 1st: storm (one of, if not THE MOST underrated song in etm) 2nd: ruthlessness 3rd: keep your friends close 4th: luck runs out (unfortunately)

4. THE CIRCE SAGA 1st: wouldn't you like 2nd: puppeteer 3rd: done for 4th: there are other ways

5. THE UNDERWORLD SAGA 1st: no longer you (those backing vocals are amazing) 2nd: the underworld (closer than you might think) 3rd: monster (also overrated — beautiful concept but sticks out like a sore thumb)

6. THE THUNDER SAGA 1st: scylla (yeah i said it fight me) 2nd: thunder bringer 3rd: suffering (also sticks out like a sore thumb but in a good way/on purpose) 4th: different beast 5th: mutiny (obviously)

7. THE WISDOM SAGA (might be the most overrated saga) 1st: legendary 2nd: god games 3rd: we'll be fine 4th: love in paradise (beautiful song but god calypso...) 5th: little wolf (i don't like this song)

8. THE VENGEANCE SAGA 1st: dangerous (goddamnit troy) 2nd: get in the water 3rd: charybdis 4th: six hundred strike (better for its iconic moments/plot points than an overall song) 5th: not sorry for loving you (calypso.)

9. THE ITHACA SAGA 1st: the challenge (holy shit. the 3rd time we hear anna lea's vocals and it's fucking amazing) 2nd: i can't help but wonder (hits like a brick. love that athena motif ending) 3rd: would you fall in love with me again 4th: odysseus (everything 600 strike wanted to be) 5th: hold them down

for the 5 epic fans left on tumblr i would like to make a formal apology

my goodbye is so fucking good it shows like that transition from the old curious writing style where jorge was still figuring stuff out to the more modern style that epic follows by where the lyrics and production seem more consistent

and it follows that epic charm where its such a bop but its so lore packed (damn you keep your friends close)

so this is my new ranking for the polyphemus saga

1st: my goodbye (teagan's vocals man. god) 2nd: polyphemus 3rd: survive 4th: remember them

hot take the old version of the horse and the infant and just a man is a lot better than the new versions of those songs (the ones that we have now)

the production felt a bit more adventurous and those backing vocals are HEAVENLY

now since when did i write amazing..

but in all seriousness, thank you so much carmen; for me, whenever i write, i always have a surge of inspiration beforehand, whether it be from music or the fandoms im in, or if im just given a good ask. give as much thought into whatever you write so that its fully fledged out and the inspiration in your body flourishes onto the words that you type out

and the most important thing

do NOT worry about mistakes whilst you write

the beauty of writing is that you can change your mistakes later; take advantage of the inspiration and flow it onto the words of your story or essay. if you feel like something's a bit off, but you don't have the inspiration? leave it be. come back to it later when you feel motivated; so that you don't spend the entirety of your time racking for a better fit for that sentence.

in short, don't force yourself, and take advantage of the inspiration in ur body whenever that comes
