“I just never will. If an OC and a Canon Character happen to fall in love then so be it. The only problem is when a person bends a character’s personality and makes them fall in love or makes them extremely out of character, but hell, that happens a lot in Canon/Canon too when it comes to fandom. It’s not automatically terrible or even bad if an OC is paired up with a Canon Character, if that’s how the story’s played out according to the roleplayer(s)/writer then let it be. It’s their love story, it’s no one else’s to judge just because someone has their Original with someone from a show/book/etc.

And besides, there’s one important thing everyone seems to overlook when they bash OC/Canon. In the end, no matter what, they’re all characters. And characters are all equal, one is not higher than the other because they have a show, movie or book. And a character shouldn’t have to be “deserving” of the canon character, that’s just not how love works.”

Hux was always careful with Thrawn- not that he mistrusted the Admiral- but because he was taught to be. He did his best to keep his motions well controlled, his feelings deep under the surface. A good leader didn’t broadcast their mental status if they wanted their soldiers to be calm and proficient in their duties. 

He wasn’t always successful at this- his temper got the best of him sometimes, despite his best intentions. Sloane said he got it from the late Brendol, and the statement always made the younger Hux’s lip curl, his nose wrinkle and his teeth flash. To share the least desired, the worst traits of the man was the last thing he wanted. 

At least he wasn’t a walking paunch, he supposed, mentally priding himself on his trim silhouette.

His thoughts. Thrawn could mean any number of things. The First Order. The state of the galaxy, the progress of the Order in the bolstering of its fleet…. Snoke himself. 

He looked at Thrawn thoughtfully. 

“I think there is still much to be done yet,” he said. “The new TIE fighters and the Resurgent battlecruisers are proving to be far superior to anything the New Republic has, let alone this bothersome Resistance.”

His spine was straight- put steel in your spine, and bronze in your voice- Rae told him many times. 

“My thoughts, Grand Admiral, lie with the future success of the First Order.”

       ❝ Your words taste of a recitation for the First Order. The thoughts you voice lack individuality as well as the insight I as hoping for. It’s almost.... disappointing in a way. ❞ Thrawn minutely tilted his head in thought as his gaze softened. He appeared lost in thought or perhaps just watching Hux for the sake of freaking out the human with a look of sentimentality or deep thought. In actuality, Thrawn was deep in thought more so picking out his words than to troll the human Sloane was so adamant he meet.

Hux smoothed his leather-clad fingers over the new stripe on his sleeve for the umpteenth time, feeling the embroidered symbols and piping on his black uniform. 

Colonel. Not long now, until he was made General, and perhaps the youngest yet, at only twenty-three.

He was still glowing from the praise Sloane had given him as she bestowed the rank on him, feeling her pride at his advancement wash over him like a warm flood of light. 

He’d worked hard- even fought hard- for this rank. Sloane had told him when he was younger that his position was not guaranteed and that he would have to work for it, regardless of his connections. 

The opinion he sought most, however, the favour and praise he craved most, would come from the man standing at the forward viewport. His uniform was a stark contrast to Hux’s, a gleaming white paired against stark black. 

Hux stopped a few feet away from him, coming smartly to attention, his boot heels making a crisp snap. He saluted his superior as he waited for the other man to turn around. 

                 ❝ Colonel, ❞ he greeted in turn in his carefully modulated tone and a nod in greeting. He slowly blinked as Thrawn glanced over Hux from head to toe. The Chiss’ brilliant mind was fast at work notating details no human would typically notice.

     ❝ What do you think? ❞ Thrawn cast his gaze back out into the emptiness of space beyond the viewport they stood in front of. Whether Thrawn referred to the view or the First Order wasn’t clear.
