you let out a sigh as you step into the harker house, your back and feet killing you from the long shift at work. they always overworked you, and if it wasn’t anyone at work bitching at you, it was dale getting on your ass about how they treated you like an animal with little to no pay. you set your lunchbox on the counter and unlock the basement door with your keys, dale’s body turning as your movements are slow and tired.

“oh, babygirl,” dale frowns as he sets his tools down and stands up, “come here, sweetpea.”

you start to get emotional from being so drained mentally and physically and tears well up in your eyes, dale’s arms wrapping around you tightly and squeezing you close as if you’d disappear. you inhale his scent and bury your face into his chest, his hand cupping the back of your head as his free hand moves around your back soothingly.

“you need to take a break, sweet girl. you can’t keep overworking yourself for no reward in return,” he pulls away and cups your face, his thumbs brushing away your tears, “so much potential to be staying and working with those pigs, you know it.”

“but i can’t just stop working.”

“never said that, did i?” dale boops your nose, “get your pretty little head out of that ass of yours and understand there’s other places out there, not worth seeing my little angel getting all worked up over nothing.”

you sigh and dale places a tender kiss on your forehead, your hands on his wrists as you lean into him. he tilts your chin up and looks you in the eye, as if searching for anymore tears that may spill over.

a/n- hi my love! this is a lot ‘happier’ than what my hc is! hope u enjoy!

monitors beep and a nurse comes in and out of dale’s room a few times before he fully wakes up, his nose and chin aching and tender. the doctor told dale during the consultation that he’d be able to kill two birds with one stone while preforming the procedure, dale originally going in for a rhinoplasty but the doctor convinced him he’d be able to preform the genioplasty too.

“oh! you’re awake,” the nurse smiles as she walks into his room, gently setting down a small plastic cup with a pill inside on the tray next to him, “you wanna see?”

“oh yes!” dale gasps softly as he tries not to move too much, “i’m sure i’ll look beautiful enough for him…”

the nurse doesn’t pay attention to his words as she’s had stranger patients before. she carefully takes his blood-soaked bandages off, dale’s hand carefully grabbing the mirror next to him. he doesn’t wait, practically shoving her arm away to take a peek. he feels tears welling up in his eyes, his once brood nose now upturned into a pixie nose and a piece of bone chipped from his chin. he blinks and looks at the nurse.

“am i pretty?” he asks her for validation and she nods with a smile.
