His first reaction to meeting an Irish person out in New England is to go "Día dhuit! How's life with the English?" like he's asking about foot fungus.

He once met Mary II. and all he has to say about that is that she's a bit prettier than him.

He's canonically visited at least one Czech castle.

He hates caves. And mines. And crows. Crows can piss right off.

He doesn't present himself as a man of faith, but if it comes up, he's able to keep up with Puritans at quoting the Bible. Never dismiss Red mac Raith as an uneducated heretic, because he will show you he knows more about your faith than you do and catch you in a heresy (looking at you, Hugh Batcheler) while never dropping a polite smile.

His default reaction to his ghost lover demolishing a wall with a banshee scream amounts to "Damn that's hot."

He has a whole placebo ritual for people who think they're haunted, but are actually suffering from PTSD. It involves a lot of candles and talking about your trauma (as opposed to actual rituals, which involve carving up the floorboards with a knife and yelling at ghosts in Gaelic).

He is more than willing to commit forgery in order to make a gay woman a widow on paper so that suitors would leave her alone.

One of the few really reliable ways to piss him off is to talk to him like Antea isn't there (or worse, is his slave). "She is in charge. I am the help."

He's been through immense amounts of trauma and darkness, but he's the most optimistic and idealistic person in the room, not because he's naïve, but because is spite of all he's seen, this man has actively chosen hope and life.
