You awake to a hand gently shaking your shoulder as you rub the sleep out of your eyes to reveal the youngest Gallagher boy standing at your side of you and Lipâs shared bed who right now has you possessively wrapped against his chest. You look at the clock; 4:05 am
âLiam?â your voice was still hoarse from fatigue, âIs everything okay?â
âUh, yeah⌠itâs just..â Liam scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment. He knew he was nine years old now, much too young to ask in such childish ways, but dammit he had had a nightmare, and there was nothing he wanted more than the comfort of his big brother and his âmight-as-well-be sister.â If he was honest though, he was mostly in search of you. From the moment you had stepped into his life, the two of you had shared a bond- a clear understanding of one another. You gave him a soft smile, and he knew by that small gesture alone that he didnât need to explain himself.
You slowly reached for your boyfriendâs arms that were snuggly wrapped around your waist and eased your way out of his hold.
âMmmm, stay still.â Lip protested sleepily, his eyes still closed, though his brows furrowed with slight irritation.
You pressed a kiss against his forehead, âLiam wants to come in.â Lip opened an eye to see his baby brother and sighed patting the middle of the mattress. Liam didnât need to be told twice as he crawled in between the two of you, curling up to your side to which your arms responded by immediately wrapping themselves around the smaller boy.
âYo, easy there.â Lip reached out for your pinkie finger with a larger one. His plans of cuddling may have been foiled, but at least he had something to hold onto. âI donât need you stealing my girl.â Liam playfully rolled his eyes as he cuddled deeper against your side.Â
âDonât have to, Iâm already her favorite.â
You giggle as you wrap your arms tighter around Liam as his eyes begin to droop. You snuggle deeper into your pillow, your amazing boyfriend on the other side of the bed, arm stretched out to run his fingers through your hair and your honorary brother tucked into your side.Â
âHmmm, two Gallagher boys fighting over me? Iâm flattered!â Lip reached over to pinch your cheek,
âIâll show you who your favorite is when we get in the shower tomorrow morning.â
Okay so PLEASE could you do slash x reader where like where she keeps trying to sleep but there's snakes in the bed so they get into a argument PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU i just think you would be fucking amazing at writing this so PLEASE
A/n: I'm gonna be answering some fluff asks just because they're easier for me to write, hopefully I'll be able to get back to writing smut and angst soon but until then I hope everyone reading can enjoy some fluff <3
Warnings: None, just fluff. And snakes if you're scared of snakes. and naked Slash.
This is the snake I was snake I was picturing btw
Slash was already nice and cozy in bed. Naked and all sprawled out, as per usual. You smiled softly at him and crawled into bed, resting your head on his chest. "Comfy?" You asked, looking up at him.
Slash had a habit of not moving his neck to look and just pulling his head back to look down, giving him an extra few chins. You loved seeing him like that because he just looked so stupid and seemed to have no understanding that he was doing it. He was adorable.
"Yeah, sheets are warm." He mumbled, relaxing once more. His hand moved up your side, wrapping around you. You smiled at the feeling until you realized Slash had both his arms under his head.
You jumped out of bed, accidently stepping on Slash and barely keeping yourself from falling flat on your ass.
Slash cackled at your reaction as he moved the blanket, careful to keep himself covered as he picked up the snake, letting it slither up his arm.
"Every night. Every fucking night! Why!" You grumbled, glaring at him.
"'Cause it's funny." He smiled, crooked teeth and hair over his eyes.
You huffed. "I'm scheduling you a dentist appointment." You stated and made your way out of the room, not without catching to fear in his expression.
Slash scrambled to his feet and rushed after you, completely nude and still holding his snake. "Wait! Wait, wait, no! No need, please! I'm sorry!" Now it was your turn to laugh as he chased you through the house, threatening to let lose more snakes until he finally tackled you on the couch.
He smiled down at you and you smiled right back up at him. "What? What is it?"
"Where's the snake?" Slash's expression fell. Then, so did yours as he looked around in a panic.
The sun beat down on San Francisco and I chastised myself for wearing a jacket. It was deceivingly cool in the morning and now I was paying the price.Â
Iâd been on a few dates with this guy named Kirk, he was the guitarist of an up and coming band called Metallica. Weâd really clicked and are going with the flow.Â
That is how I found myself on a hike with him and his band mates. I assumed since I had been invited the other guys would have brought girls, but no. Just me, Kirk and the guys.Â
That was the only reason I was hesitant to remove my jacket.Â
âDoing okay?â Kirk asked, we hiked with our fingers intertwined.Â
âYeah, Iâm fine, you?â I asked.Â
âIâm fine also.â He replied.Â
âWhat lover boy is too kind to say, is that youâre sweating bullets, why havenât you taken off your jacket?â Lars asked as he walked backwards in front of us.Â
âUm, yeah I am still fine.â I said, feeling heat in my face.Â
âDid you forget to put a shirt on under?â James asked as he walked forward next to Lars.Â
âIf you did, Iâll give you mine.â Cliff said kindly.Â
âNo, itâs none of that.â I said, âIâm fine, really.â I said hoping they would drop it. Even though I in fact was not fine.Â
Some time had passed and we were chatting and having a good time. The views were gorgeous and I really enjoyed Kirk and his friends' company. On the way back, I could no longer stand it. The jacket was coming off.Â
The problem, and why I had refused to remove my jacket for so long was the fact I was in a tight white tank top, no bra and you could clearly see my nipple piercings through them. Kirk and I havenât been intimate yet, I want to, and I think we will be soon. But this will be a surprise, I donât have any other piercings except my ear lobes.Â
âDid that hurt?âÂ
I looked up and Lars was staring directly at my boobs and the obvious metal poking through my nipples. I was surprised as Kirk stood in front of me.Â
âDonât look at her boobs dude.â He said with a sharp look.Â
âSorry.â Lars said sheepishly.Â
âThe initial adrenaline helped and it didnât fully hurt until after a while.â I responded.Â
âCool, maybe I will have to get mine done.â Lars said.Â
The conversation moved on as we continued back to the cars. Kirk and I drove separately from the others. I was surprised he stayed relatively quiet the rest of the hike back.Â
We bid adieu to his band members, he opened the passenger door for me, I slid in and he closed the door as I buckled up. When he got in himself and buckled up I decided to speak up.Â
âAre you okay? You were pretty quiet on the hike back.âÂ
âYeah, I just couldnât get the thought of your boobs out of my head, and I am pretty sure if I tried to say anything I would have just said boobs.â He said and I laughed a little.Â
âSorry, I was beguiled by the chilly weather this morning. I definitely wanted you to see them privately instead of like that.â I said. A thought crossed my mind and I unbuckled. Kirk looked over, and my god he was so cute with his brow furrowed.
âWhat are you-âÂ
I turned toward him and I lifted my tank top flashing him. His eyes widened as he stopped mid sentence. I put my shirt down and grinned at him.Â
âIs your roommate home?â He asked, âI donât mean to be forward, but I think I need to get a little more familiar with your boobs.âÂ
âSheâs working today, and I agree, I think itâs time for me to become yours.â I said, I cringed internally, it was a little (okay very much so) cringey, but I didnât know how else to say it.Â
Thankfully he grinned and nodded. âMine.â He said.Â
I buckled back up and we were off to my apartment, where I would become his, again and again.

Title: Four of a Kind
Pairing: Spencer Reid x fem!reader
Summary: The BAU discovers youâve been quietly hiding four PhDs and immediately decide that makes you the perfect match for Spencer. The only problem? He liked you long before he knew about any of them.
Word count: ~1,121
==================================================
You had worked at the BAU for eight months before anyone discovered you had four PhDs. It happened because a professor at Georgetown ruined everything.
The team had been invited to consult on a series of threatening letters sent to faculty members. You were standing beside Spencer in the university library when an older man spotted you across the room.
âDr. Y/L/N?â
You froze. Spencer looked at you.
The professor hurried closer and shook your hand. âI havenât seen you since the behavioral sciences symposium. Are you still publishing in forensic linguistics, or are you focusing on neuropsychology now?â
Behind you, Morgan stopped walking.
The professor continued before you could answer. âI heard you finished the criminology doctorate. That makes four, doesnât it?â
Silence filled the library.
You smiled weakly. âYes.â
âFour?â JJ repeated.
The professor glanced at the team. âShe never mentioned them?â
âNo,â Emily said. âShe did not.â
Spencer was staring at you as though you had grown another head. The professor excused himself, leaving you alone with six profilers who suddenly looked deeply betrayed.
Garciaâs voice came through the phone in Morganâs hand. âDid that distinguished academic gentleman say four PhDs?â
âYouâre on speaker?â you asked.
âI am now.â
Morgan folded his arms. âYouâve been here eight months.â
âIt never came up.â
Spencer blinked. âYou have doctorates in behavioral science, forensic linguistics, neuropsychology and criminology?â
You glanced at him. âYes.â
âYou let everyone call me the resident genius.â
âYou are the resident genius.â
âWhat are you?â
âTired, mostly.â
Emily covered a laugh.
Garcia gasped through the phone. âShe has more PhDs than Reid.â
âThis isnât a competition,â Spencer said quickly.
âNot anymore,â Morgan replied. âShe won.â
âI didnât win anything.â
JJ looked between you and Spencer. Then she smiled. You knew that smile.
âNo,â you said immediately.
âI didnât say anything.â
âYou were about to.â
Morganâs grin widened. âFour PhDs. Three PhDs. Thatâs seven PhDs in one extremely awkward relationship.â
âThere is no relationship,â Spencer said. Far too quickly.
You looked away before anyone could see the small sting the words caused. You had liked Spencer almost from the beginning. Not because he was brilliant, though he was. You liked the way he brought you coffee when he noticed you working through lunch. The way he leaned closer when you spoke, as though nothing you said was ever unimportant.
You had never told him about your degrees because people tended to treat you differently afterward. Apparently, he would too.
For the rest of the case, the team became unbearable. Morgan volunteered you and Spencer to review the letters together. JJ arranged for the two of you to interview the same professor. Emily somehow made certain the only empty seats at lunch were beside each other. Garcia began referring to you as âDoctor Reidâs intellectual equal and future tax-dependent.â
âYou know married people donât automatically become tax dependents,â Spencer told her.
âYou didnât deny the married part,â Garcia sang.
Spencer hung up. You tried to laugh with everyone else, but the constant comparisons were beginning to wear on you.
By the time the case ended, you had heard the phrase perfect match fourteen times. On the jet home, Morgan moved his bag from the empty seat beside Spencer.
You picked it up and placed it back. âIâm sitting over there.â
Morgan frowned. âBut Reidââ
âCan survive a two-hour flight without discussing dissertations.â
You took a seat beside Emily and opened your book. Spencer watched you from across the aisle. You did not look up.
After landing, you stayed behind to finish paperwork. The bullpen slowly emptied until only you and Spencer remained.
He approached your desk holding two cups of coffee. âI didnât know if you still wanted one.â
You accepted it despite yourself. âThank you.â
He lingered.
You continued typing.
âAre you upset with me?â
âNo.â
âYou havenât spoken to me voluntarily in six hours.â
âYouâve been counting?â
âYes.â
You sighed and closed the file. âIâm tired of everyone acting like we should date because I collected one more degree than you.â
Spencer frowned. âI donât think we should date because of your degrees.â
âI know. You made it very clear thereâs no relationship.â
His eyes widened. âThat wasnât what I meant.â
âYou sounded pretty certain.â
âI was surprised.â
âSo was everyone else.â
âNo.â He placed his coffee on your desk. âI was surprised because Iâve been trying to prevent them from noticing that I already like you.â
You stared at him.
Spencerâs cheeks turned pink, but he continued. âIf they believed the degrees were the reason, they would turn it into a joke. And I didnât want you to think that I only became interested after discovering them.â
âYou were interested before?â
âYes.â
âHow long before?â
He looked down. âApproximately seven months.â
âYouâve known me for eight.â
âI needed time to account for other explanations.â
A smile tugged at your mouth. âOf course you did.â
âI like that you correct my chess strategy even though you lose every game.â
âI let you win.â
âThatâs statistically unlikely.â
âIâm being vulnerable, Spencer.â
âSorry.â
You laughed softly.
He relaxed. âI like that you bring your own tea bags because you think the office ones taste like wet paper,â he continued. âAnd that you pretend not to enjoy Morganâs jokes even when youâre trying not to laugh.â
Your expression softened. âYou noticed all that?â
âI notice you.â The simple words landed harder than any grand declaration could have.
Spencer shifted nervously. âI understand if the teamâs behavior has made the idea uncomfortable.â
âIt hasnât.â
âIt hasnât?â
âNo. Youâre doing that thing where you explain yourself out of asking the actual question.â
He swallowed. âWould you like to have dinner with me?â
You pretended to consider it.
Spencerâs fingers tightened around his cup.
âYes.â
His entire face brightened.
âBut,â you added, âweâre not discussing work, dissertations or how many degrees either of us has.â
âThat eliminates several conversational categories.â
âYouâll manage.â
He smiled. âI think I can.â
The elevator doors opened behind him.
Morgan stepped out, saw the two of you standing together and stopped. âDid I interrupt something?â
âYes,â you and Spencer said at the same time.
Morgan grinned.
Spencer reached for your hand before the teasing could begin. âCome on.â You let him lead you toward the elevator.
Morgan watched your joined hands. âSo the matchmaking worked.â
Spencer pressed the button. âNo,â he said as the doors opened. âYou delayed it by at least three weeks.â
The doors closed on Morganâs offended expression.
You looked at Spencer. âThree weeks?â
âPossibly four.â
You leaned over and kissed his cheek.
His hand tightened around yours.
âMaybe your calculations were wrong, Doctor Reid.â
Spencer smiled. âFor once, Iâm glad they were.â
Eddie x reader! popular x loser? Eddie finding out that the popular reader who is always covered in pink and does cheerleading is actually very cool. Listening to same music as him, maybe even knowing something about dnd or even playing it. you know maybe re-create the scene in the upside down where Eddie speaks with Steve about Ozzy Osborne and he doesn't know anything but to Eddieâs surprise reader knew about Ozzy and the bat thing.
I hope this is what you wanted and you enjoy it! Thank you for requesting đŤśđť
Ozzy? Ozzy Osbourne?
Eddie tried to wrap his head around the whole upside down thing. He had a wild last few days, and the part that surprised him the most was Y/F/N being involved. Her wet pink sweater brightened up the darkness and Eddie was amazed how beautiful she looked after diving into a body of water. This wasn't the type of place a pretty cheerleader should have been.
"It's obvious that you're staring," Steve whispered as he walked along Eddie. Eddie's brown eyes diverted away from her perfect figure and looked at Steve.
"I wasn't," Eddie lied. He pretended to look around and cringed at how awful his surroundings were. "How does a preppy cheerleader get caught up in this?" Steve couldn't help but look at her too as they walked behind her.
"Friends with the wrong people. How come you're so interested? From what I've heard from Dustin, you hate the popular crowd," Steve questioned.
"I do. You guys are self-involved and assholes," Eddie said. Steve gave him a slight glare. "But Dustin tends to speak highly of you so maybe not everyone is bad." Eddie's eyes softened as he looked to Y/N. Steve couldn't help but chuckle as he drooled over Y/N. "So uh, are you friends with her?"
"No, but she's a friend of Nancy's." Steve shrugged. "You know you could just talk to her. You go to the same school."
Eddie scoffed. "And talk about what? I don't think Ms. Perfect and the Freak would have anything in common." Their conversation was interrupted as a swarm of bats began an attack.
~
The group walked silently as they recovered from the bats. Steve got the worst of it and everyone kept a close eye on him. Y/N walked behind him and Eddie, her head down as she watched where she walked. But at times would look up to steal glances at Eddie. Her and Eddie never crossed paths throughout school, but that didn't mean she didn't notice him, and being this close to him made her nervous. She was well aware he hated the popular crowd and didn't want to overstep, but he was so damn cute. Which, she knew focusing on a boy was not important right now, she just couldn't help it.
"That was a real Ozzy move you pulled back there."
Y/N silently listened to Eddie and Steve talked. Y/N smiled at the mention of Ozzy, because she thought the same thing.
"Ozzy?" Steve asked confused.
"You took a bite out of that bat," Eddie explained but Steve still looked confused. "Ozzy Osbourne? Black Sabbath?"
"I don't -"
"Wait, Harrington," Y/N spoke up. Both boys turned at the sound of her voice, Eddie was grateful for an excuse to look at her. Her pink sweater was ripped along the arms and stomach, Eddie tried not to make it obvious that he looked to see the parts of her skin. "You don't know Ozzy Osbourne?"
"You know Ozzy?" Eddie asked as he stopped walking. He was pleasantly surprised that she knew who he was and impressed. Maybe he judged too soon.
Y/N gulped underneath his stare, her body felt warm everywhere. "Obviously, who doesn't?" She scoffed. "Well, except you know who." Her eyes teasingly looked at Steve and Eddie laughed with her. She felt her heart burst at the sound of Eddie's deep chuckle. Steve rolled his eyes as the two laughed at him. He gave Eddie a look and a small smirk.
"Nothing in common, huh?" Steve whispered and Eddie was quick to look at him. He left Eddie with a sly wink and Y/N wished she could hear what he said but he walked away.
Y/N decided to gain as much confidence as she could and walk up to Eddie's side. She slowly began walking and hoped he'd walk alongside her, which he did. Even though the upside down had a weird smell, she could smell the husky scent of Eddie's cologne and the cigarette smell on his jacket.
"I'm sorry the whole town is after you," Y/N said gently. "I knew you weren't a bad guy."
Eddie softly smiled at her words, at least someone in the damn town didn't hate him. And he couldn't help but be happy that it was her. "Eh I'm used to being hunted," Eddie shrugged, "but thank you. I didn't think you'd listen to Ozzy."
Y/N turned her head to look at him and smiled. "I guess my pink clothes and cheerleading uniform doesn't scream heavy metal?" She joked.
Pretty, smart, and funny, Eddie thought. "It does not," Eddie agreed. "I think it's rad that you are into it though."
She silently screamed in her head, happy as ever that Eddie Munson thought she was rad. But she didn't want to get ahead of herself, he still hated people like her. "You were pretty rad back there with the bats too. Steve wasn't the only impressive one."
"I try my best, sweetheart." The nickname made her cheeks burn and she shyly looked at the ground for a second. He enjoyed how nervous she seemed to be around him. "I'm sorry your cute sweater got ruined."
She looked down at the damage and shrugged. "Eh. It wasn't my favorite one anyway. Wait you think it's cute?" Eddie's heart swelled at the happiness on her face. Just a day ago, she was just a pretty girl he sometimes thought about but never spoke to. But now, after tonight, he feared he wouldn't speak to her again.
"I think you make it cute."
"Hey lovebirds! Mind doing this later? We still have to get out of here...alive!" Steve hissed. Eddie and Y/N were so focused on each other that they didn't realize he walked over to them.
"Uh, yeah. Sorry!" Y/N squeaked and walked off to catch up with Nancy. Her heart pounded in her ears and she knew it wasn't because of the upside down.
"Hey just because you're single and miserable. Doesn't mean I need to be. I was working at something!" Eddie groaned. He frowned as Y/N was far ahead.
~~~
They made it out of the upside down a few days ago and Y/N was nervous to see Eddie at school. After their small conversation, she hasn't seen him, and she really wanted to. She hoped he'd want to see her too or at least acknowledge that they spent a night together in a scary universe of their town.
Eddie tried not to make it obvious he was looking for her as Dustin and Mike tried to talk to him. He scanned the hallways and got slightly frustrated when he didn't spot her.
"Are you like in love with her or something now? Because Steve told us you two were getting all cozy!" Dustin said as he hugged himself dramatically to mock Eddie.
"Shut it, Henderson," Eddie hissed, but that only caused Dustin to smile.
"She's cute, I approve," Dustin said.
"I don't need your approval for who I date," Eddie sighed, annoyed.
"Oh? Date?" Mike perked up and joined in. "Does Mr. Hate popularity have a crush on the pretty cheerleader?"
"I swear," Eddie said as he towered over them and glared, "I will beat the shi-"
"Hi, Eddie," Y/N said with a flirty wiggle of her fingers. She walked past him with confidence and composure, a huge difference to what she felt inside.
"H-hi," Eddie stuttered as watched her leave. She wore another cute pink sweater and a bow in her hair, something about how delicate she looked made Eddie's insides ache.
"Pathetic," Dustin and Mike said at the same time, Eddie snapped his head towards them and they ran upon seeing the deadly look on his face.
~
After she made her small move, Eddie was wrapped around her finger. He couldn't tear his eyes away from her at lunch, watching as she laughed with her friends. As lunch was dismissed, he quickly walked over to her.
"Hey Y/N!" He called to get her attention. She stopped and waited for him to catch up.
"Why is he talking to her?" Someone whispered and Eddie ignored it since she gave him the prettiest smile he had ever seen.
"Hi, Eddie," the smile was still on her face. He loved hearing her say his name and wished he could hear it on repeat.
"I wanted to ask you if you maybe would want to meet up sometime? We could hang at my place and listen to Ozzy," he hated how nervous his voice sounded.
"Sometime? Yeah," she reached into her backpack and grabbed a pen. "Whenever you want 'sometime' to happen, give me a call," she scribbled her number on his hand and he shivered as his skin touched hers. She left him with a wink...and a racing heart.
âEw.â
The word left you before you could stop it as you sunk your teeth into a granola bar.
You grimaced as you turned over the wrapper, examining it like it might explain why you felt like you were currently eating a stick of glue.
âAre these expired?â You asked through the mouthful.
McKay barely glanced up from where she had half her body buried in the fridge, rummaging past several abandoned containers and a suspiciously wet paper bag.
âNope, theyâre just a by product of the drywall factory down the road.â She answered.
You stared at the bar for another second, trying to muster up enough willpower to finish it given you hadnât eaten lunch.
After abandoning that mission in under 10 seconds, you leant over the bin and spat out the mouthful with as much decorum as you could before unceremoniously dumping the rest of the bar after it.
âThose things arenât that bad.â Whitaker mused as he wandered into the breakroom with Santos hot on his heels.
âThatâs because you were raised on hay.â Santos remarked dryly.
âTheyâre raspberry flavoured.â
âThatâs not helping you Huckleberry.â
You huffed a laugh as the two of them started bickering just as your phone buzzed in your pocket. You leant against the wall, only half listening as you pulled it out of your scrubs and saw a notification from Jack.
He must have just woken up from his pre-shift nap. The corner of your mouth lifted as you read his reply.
You: Are you coming in early today?
JA â¤ď¸: Always.
You quickly typed out another message.
You: any chance u could bring in a protein bar for me? the ones at work are inedible
The reply came almost instantly.
JA â¤ď¸: I know. Iâve told Robby they are a serious health hazard.
You smiled at that as you watched the three dots blink back at you.
JA â¤ď¸: Iâll be in soon. I already have some in my bag for you.
You: are you psychic?
JA â¤ď¸: Just good at pattern recognition.
Your smile widened as his reply came through.
You: thank u đЎ
JA â¤ď¸: đ
âWhat are you smiling at?â
You looked up to find McKay watching you over the fridge door.
âWhat?â
âThat.â She pointed vaguely at your face. âWhatever that was.â
âNothing.â
Santos and Whitaker paused their arguing to focus on you.
Santos studied you, her face contorting into a grimace. âGross.â
âWhat?â
âI just canât get over the fact that Abott reduces you toâŚâ She trailed off, waving vaguely at you.
âThat?â Whitaker supplied.
âYeah.â Santos nodded gravely. âThat.â
You rolled your eyes, sliding your phone back into your scrub pocket.
âI think the two of you are starting to fuse into one brain cell.â
Santosâ expression went still. ââŚ.that was genuinely hurtful.â
You turned to Whitaker. âThereâs your new button to press.â
Whitakerâs grin widened as he crossed his arms over his chest and turned to Santos. âOh I cannot wait to bring this up multiple times a day.â
Santos glared at you. "You're a traitor."
You pushed off the wall, shaking your head as you made your way towards the door.
âNever give your triggers away Santos.â
âYouâre still a traitor!â She called out.
You waved her off without looking back, escaping before she could start another argument.
You barely made it two steps before nearly colliding with Samira.
âOh sorry.â She came to an abrupt halt, the usual frazzled expression etched onto her features as she looked up at you.
âYou all good?â
âYeah um- have you seen Joy?â
âNot for a little while.â
âNo worries, if you see her can you tell her I need her in Room 3?â
âSure.â You nodded, tilting your head slightly as you studied her. âAre you sure youâre ok?â
âYeah fine.â She brushed you off as she tucked a loose curl behind her ear. âHavenât had lunch so Iâm a bit cranky.â
You nodded in understanding. âWord of warning, donât eat the protein bars.â
Samiraâs nose wrinkled as she stepped around you. âWhy on earth would I do that?â
You threw your arms up dramatically. âAm I the only one who didnât know they were inedible?â
âApparently so.â
You huffed, pulling your hair out from under your collar as you made your way over to the status board which was currently glowing above the chaos that was the ED like a cruel little scoreboard.
Your hands settled on your stethoscope as you scanned the board. Less than an hour till your shift was over, at least officially. Which given your track record of overtime, meant close to nothing.
âHey.â
You glanced over to see Perlah leaning against one of the desks.
âWhat?â You asked warily.
Her smirk widened. âHave you seen the hot visitor?â
âThe what?â
Princess appeared beside her, equally delighted.
âAbsolute smoke show.â
Princess nodded towards the far end of the station. âFollow the sounds of Joy giggling.â
Your brows knitted together.
âJoy? As in our intern, Joy? As in the complete antithesis of her name, Joy?â You queried.
âSee for yourself.â Perlah grinned.
You followed their line of sight to the other end of the nurses station where a tall figure stood, leaning an arm on one of the benches.
At first, all you saw was the back of a leather jacket, familiar in a way that made your stomach drop before your brain had fully caught up. The man shifted slightly, turning just enough for a familiar profile to come into view. The same hair coifed to perfection, the same self-satisfied slant of his mouth.
And sure enough standing beside him, blushing furiously as she giggled, actually giggled, at whatever he had just said, was Joy.
âI didnât even know she was capable of laughter.â Princess remarked.
You closed your eyes for one brief, pained second. âYou have got to be kidding me.â You grumbled.
Before either Princess or Perlah could ask what was wrong, you were already moving, making a beeline towards them.
Princess and Perlah exchanged a look behind your back. âWhat just happened?â Princess asked in Tagalog.
âI donât know." Perlah muttered. "But I think itâs going to be good.â
By the time you were close enough to hear the familiar deep drawl of his voice, Mark Sloan had inched in just enough to make Joy look like she might pass out.
âSo, is that the only piercing you have or...?â
You rolled your eyes.
âStill shamelessly hitting on interns I see.â
Mark turned at the sound of your voice. For half a second, there was nothing but surprise. And then his eyes lit up in recognition.
âWell Iâll be.â
That familiar grin spread slowly across his face as his eyes travelled down your body with the same shameless appreciation heâd had years ago, like he was undressing you from memory.
âCupid.â He said the nickname lowly, like heâd never stopped saying it. âArenât you a sight for sore eyes.â
You shot him a fake smile. âWish I could say the same.â
Joy looked between the two of you, blinking rapidly, as if she was trying to decipher a complex math problem. You turned your attention to her, offering her a polite smile.
âDr Mohan's looking for you, something to do with your patient in room 3.â
âOh right.â Joy nodded, adjusting her glasses as she glanced at Mark. âOn it.â
âBye Joy.â Mark called out lazily, watching her blush as she scurried away, nearly walking into a wall in the process.
He turned to you, looking pleased with himself as he leant forward. âWhy do you always have to ruin my fun?â He pouted once she was out of earshot.
"Someone has to."
Meanwhile, McKay, Whitaker and Santos had exited the breakroom, not even bothering to conceal their ogling as they clustered around a monitor.
âOk who on earth is that?â Santos queried.
"And why does he look like he just walked off a photoshoot?" McKay muttered.
âAnd how do they know eachother?â Whitaker added.
âHe called her Cupid.â Joy casually commented as she walked past them.
Whitakerâs brow furrowed. "....Cupid?"
Santos froze. The faint amusement dropped away, replaced by the sharp, dawning horror of someone remembering a detail they were never supposed to need.
âOh my god.â
âWhat?â McKay and Whitaker asked simultaneously.
"Do you guys remember that time at karaoke?"
"....the one where she sang No Scrubs at Abbot?"
"No. The one when she accidentally admitted she had an ex at Seattle Grace that used to call her Cupid."
McKay and Whitaker both slowly turned to stare at Mark, then at you, then back at Mark.
Back at the nursesâ station, you folded your arms, ignoring Mark's attempts at getting under your skin.
âWhat are you doing here?â
âOh some conference.â He waived his hand dismissively. âThought Iâd take the opportunity to come see Robinavitch.â
You blinked. âYou know Dr Robby.â You said slowly.
âSince med school.â He answered smoothly. âWhy? Hoping I was here to see you?â
You snorted. âPlease.â
âOh câmon Cupid donât act like you donât miss me.â He smirked as he stepped closer. âYou wouldnât have moved across the other side of the country to forget about me if you didnât.â
You leant in slightly, shooting him a dry smile. âI wouldnât touch you again even if my life depended on it Sloan.â
He let out a genuine chuckle. âIâve missed this.â He gestured between the two of you. âUs."
He placed his chin in the palm of his hand, leaning even closer. "Why did it ever end?â
You pretended to think for a moment. "Maybe because youâre physiologically incapable of staying monogamous?â
âOh yeah right that.â He nodded. âSpeaking of monogamous..."
"No."
"... Iâve heard youâve got a new boy toy right here at PTMC.â
Your eyes narrowed. âJesus Christ Meredith needs to learn to keep her mouth shut.â
âWell in her defence she told Derek who then told me soâŚ.â Mark trailed off, turning his body around to survey the room. âWhich one is he?â
"I'm not playing this game." You answered, folding your arms over your chest.
âWait let me guess.â
Before you could stop him, Mark placed both hands on your shoulders and gently turned you so you were both facing the floor of the pitt.
His eyes landed on Frank first. âToo pretty boy.â
He guided your shoulders slightly towards Whitaker. âToo scrawny.â
From across the room, Whitaker stiffened. ââŚWhy is he looking at me?â
Santos didnât look away. âDonât wave.â She murmured.
âI wasnât going to.â
âYou were thinking about it.â
Then the ambulance bay doors opened. Jack walked in with a thermos in one hand, his bicep bulging as he shifted the backpack slung over his other shoulder on full display under his dark fitted shirt.
Your stomach dropped as his eyes scanned the room, no doubt looking for you. It didn't take long for his eyes to find yours. You watched as they shifted to Mark, then dropped to Mark's hands resting on your shoulders.
For a moment, his expression barely changed, only the faintest tightening around his jaw gave him away. Then he kept walking.
Mark smiled slowly. ââŚ.bingo.â
Your body stiffened as Mark glanced sideways at you.
âIâm right."
You didn't answer.
"I am."
âIâm not talking about my love life with you of all people.â
âCupid, donât be like that.â He nudged your shoulder. "Come on, whatâs he like?â
âWell for starters, he volunteers as a medic for the SWAT team.â You said sweetly. âSo heâs got at least one gun on him at all times.â
Mark nodded slowly, dropping his hands from your shoulders. "Noted."
"He also has excellent aim."
"Message received." Mark held his hands up. "I'll behave."
And then, for the first time since he had appeared, the teasing faded.
"But seriously..." His face softened slightly as his eyes settled on your face properly, no longer performing for the room.
âYouâre happy?â
You exhaled slowly, your defences lowering slightly by the unexpected tone of his voice.
âI am.â
âHe good to you?"
You smiled softly despite yourself. âHe is.â
Something flickered across Markâs face then, softening the usual sharp lines of his smirk, scarily close to being something sincere. âGood.â
For a moment, the years between you settled there. It didnât feel painful or bitter or even sad. In fact, it seemed absurd to think that you'd cried over him once upon a time. Now he was just a story you told after one too many drinks, something you reflected on and shook your head, chalking it up to the foolishness of youth.
You cleared your throat, looking away first. âHowâs work?â
âBusy, chaotic, dramatic.â Mark shrugged.
"So the usual then?"
âThe usual.â
He glanced around the emergency department, frowing slightly as he took in the noise, the movement, the organised disaster of it all. âHowâs the ED?â
âBusy, chaotic.â You echoed. âSomehow still much less dramatic than Seattle Grace."
Mark barked out a laugh. âYeah that checks out.â
âSloan.â
The two of you turned to see Robby making his way towards you, Jack beside him.
Mark's grin returned instantly.
âRobinavitch.â He broke away from you and pulled Robby into a hug with the force of someone who had never respected personal space in his life.
"A lot less hair since I last saw you."
Robby snorted, clapping him on the back. "The Pitt will do that to you.â
Jack caught your eye over Robbyâs shoulder, his expression running a fine line between faint amusement and annoyance.
Robby stepped back, shaking his head before gesturing to Jack.
âThis is Jack Abbot, night attending.â
âNice to meet you. Mark Sloan.â Mark stuck his hand out. âHead of Plastic Surgery at Seattle Grace.â
âPlastic surgery?â Jack's brow lifted slightly as he shook Markâs hand. âExplains the soft hands.â
Mark laughed loudly enough that several people looked over.
âOh my god.â Whitaker mumbled as he watched Jack and Mark shake hands. âItâs like Iâm seeing double.â
Santos shook her head. âSheâs got some serious issues.â
McKay folded her arms over her chest as she studied the two men. âOr just good taste.â
âI second the good taste thing.â Princess murmured as she appeared beside McKay.
Perlah took a sip of her drink and nodded. âI third that.â
The handshake lasted just a fraction longer than necessary as Mark glanced over at you. âI get it."
Robbyâs eyes narrowed as he gestured between you and Mark.
âYou two know eachother?â
âI was an intern at Seattle Grace." You supplied quickly.
âOh yes, Cupid and I go wayyy back.â Mark smirked.
Robby's confusion only deepened. âCupidâŚ?â
You shot Mark a warning glare, which he very intentionally ignored.
âYeah Cupid.â He answered smoothly. â'cause you know sheâs got these little angel wings tattooed right above her-â
âOkayyy you know what.â Robby clapped his hands letting out a bark of awkward laughter. âI think a hospital tour sounds like a great idea right about now."
Mark's eyes gleamed as he shoved his hands into his pockets. "I was going to say shoulder blade."
âYou are going to walk with me." Robby said, already steering him away, âAnd tell me absolutely none of the rest of that story.â
Mark let himself be guided down the hall, still grinning smugly as he glanced back over his shoulder at you and winked, making you roll your eyes once more.
You dragged your eyes away from him to look at Jack who was yet to move. He watched Mark disappear down the corridor, then looked back at you.
He slowly stepped forward, eyes scanning your figure as he placed his hands casually behind his back.
"Ex?"
You sighed. "...Ex."
Jack nodded curtly. âGot it.â
âAbbot.â You looked over to see Dana studying both of you. âDr King needs an attending in Room 8.â
Jack's eyes never left you. You watched him intently, waiting to see if he would say anything further. Instead he simply reached into his pocket and produced a protein bar.
You swallowed as he slid it into the front pocket of your scrub top, his fingers lightly against your side subtly.
âEat.â Was all he said, unable to hide the affection in his voice.
Your throat tightened around a smile as you nodded. He held your gaze for one more second, then turned and headed in the direction of Room 8.
You watched him go, your hand subconsciously brushing over the side that heâd just touched.
When you looked back, Dana was still standing there, one hand on her hip as she watched you over her glasses with an expression far too knowing for your liking.
âDonât you dare say a word.â
She raised her hands up in mock surrender. âWasnât gonna.â
You huffed as you turned, suddenly desperate to busy yourself in order to keep your mind off the cluster fuck that was your two worlds colliding.
For the next twenty minutes, you threw yourself back into work. Every few minutes though, your gaze betrayed you, either drifting towards the corridor where Robby had taken Mark or towards Room 8, where Jack had disappeared. The protein bar sat heavily in your pocket, your appetite now completely non-existent.
By the time you ended up at a computer to finish off your charting, your shift was close enough to ending that you had started to believe you might actually survive it.
âOh damn, the patient in room 7 died.â
You glanced up to see Whitaker staring at a chart from the workstation beside you.
âThe old lady with the chest pain?â
âYeah.â Whitaker sighed.
You frowned. "That sucks."
âShe had a husband right?â Santos chimed in from across from you, not bothering to look up from her own computer.
âYeah she did, married nearly fifty years."
Without missing a beat, Santos glanced up at you. âAbbot better watch out.â
Your eyes narrowed.
"Nice. Very respectful." Whitaker shook his head, although you could see he was trying not to laugh.
"What?" Santos shrugged. "Our girl clearly has a type."
"Silver foxes?" McKay suggested as she walked past grinning like a cheshire cat.
"I hate all of you."
Whitaker looked over at you like he was genuinely offended. "What did I do?!"
Across the hallway, Jack had just emerged from Room 8. Your eyes met his. He didnât react beyond the faintest lift of one eyebrow, but you could tell he'd heard every word.
You tipped your head slightly towards the supply closet. Jack looked at you for half a beat, then gave the smallest nod.
You waited a couple minutes before moving.
The supply closet was narrow, overstocked, and smelled faintly of antiseptic and cardboard. You shut the door behind you and leaned against a shelf, exhaling slowly for what felt like the first time in an hour.
A few minutes later, the handle turned. Jack stepped inside and closed the door quietly behind him. He leaned back against the opposite shelf, folding his arms loosely across his chest as the two of you studied eachother.
âHi.â
âHi.â
âSo⌠thatâs your ex.â
âThatâs my ex.â
He nodded. "You left out a few details."
"Such as?"
His gaze dropped briefly, then returned to your face.
âWell first of all I wasnât expecting Mark Sloan.â
Your brows lifted in surprise. âYou know who he is?â
âIâve heard of him.â
âOf course you have.â You paused for a moment before your voice dropped slightly, unable to hide the insecurity in your tone. "Do you think less of me because I dated someone like him?"
Jack's brows knitted together. "Absolutely not." He said immediately. "It's just that I wasn't expecting your ex to be..."
Your brow furrowed. âBe what?â
ââŚold.â Was what Jack settled on.
You let out a disbelieving laugh. âHeâs not old, heâs like your age.â
âExactly.â Jack nodded. âI'm practically from the stone age compared to you.â
âYouâre not.â You insisted.
Jackâs mouth twitched, but the smile didnât quite hold as he looked down at the floor.
You studied him for a moment, admiring the lines etched deep into his face that youâd had memorised for as long as youâd known him. âDoes it bother you that heâs older?â
âNo it doesnât bother me itâs just...â He sighed. âI thought I was the exception.â He confessed.
Your face softened instantly as you pushed off the wall and took a step towards him.
"Jack."
"I know itâs irrational.â He said, giving a small, self-deprecating shrug. âI just thought I was the first older doctor youâd made questionable life choices over.â
You huffed a small laugh as you closed the gap between the two of you, reaching up to cradle his jaw.
âHey.â You said gently, guiding his eyes up to meet yours.
âWhen I met Mark I was young and overwhelmed and had just moved to a new city and he wasâŚâ You trailed off, glancing at the door like Mark might somehow materialise on cue.
ââŚwell youâve seen what heâs like.â
You brushed a thumb over his stubble that lined his jaw. âIt barely even qualified as a relationship. And then it ended and we worked together for months. And then I moved.â
Jack leant into your touch slightly, his eyes never leaving your face as you spoke, attentive in the way that always made your heart ache a little.
âAnd then on my first day here I met a grumpy doctor up on the roof while I was mid meltdown.â
His brows drew together in feigned disbelief. âI donât think he was grumpy.â
âHe told me if I was thinking of jumping I shouldnât because itâd be a shame to ruin a face like mine.â
The frown that had a hold on his face loosened just a fraction. âWhy on earth would he think that line would work.â
âIn his defence, I think he was a little out of practice.â
His hands settled at your waist, warm and steady through the thin fabric of your scrubs. âOr his brain short circuited when he saw you.â
Your smile widened as you slid your arms around the back of his neck, entwining your fingers absentmindedly around the silver curls at the nape of his neck.
âWell, lucky for him it worked.â
The reluctant smile finally reached his eyes. âVery lucky.â He corrected.
He glanced down, playing with the tie of your scrub pants.
âI just canât believe you dated a plastic surgeon.â
You snorted softly. âIs that seriously whatâs bothering you the most?â
âYes.â He answered plainly.
You shook your head, a wry smile on your lips. âNot the stupid nickname?â
Jack glanced down at you, his grip on your hips tightening ever so slightly.
âIf he calls you that again I may have no choice but to punch him.â He conceded casually as he brushed a strand of hair behind your ear.
His head tilted slightly as he studied you for a moment. âBut at least he can fix his own nose up after.â
You let out a laugh, running a hand over his chest. âDonât worry.â You soothed. âI already told him you volunteer with the SWAT team.â
Jack smirked down at you proudly. âAtta girl.â
Then he leant down and finally pressed his lips to yours in a slow, reverent kiss. When he pulled back, his eyes narrowed immediately.
âDid you eat?â
You winced slightly. âNot yet.â You patted the pocket that contained the protein bar. âIâll eat this and then go.â
Jack frowned, clearly unsatisfied with your solution. âGo home and eat something more substantial.â
âI will.â
âThereâs pasta in the fridge for you, all you have to do is chuck it in the microwave.â
Your interest piqued immediately. âThe pesto one I love?â
âOf course.â
You grinned, pressing your forehead against his. âYouâre very good to me Dr Abbot.â
His smile softened into something private, something reserved just for you. âAnything for my girl.â
You kissed him again, deeper this time, enjoying the feeling of his warmth seeping into you.
âAlright.â He muttered reluctantly against your lips as he pulled away. âGet going before I end up locking you in here.â
You smirked. âYou say that like itâs a bad thing.â
He shot you a warning glare with absolutely no bite to it.
You huffed dramatically, âalright alright.â
You reached for the door, then paused, glancing back at him.
âAnd for the record, if youâre worried about feeling oldâŚâ
Jack raised a brow.
âYou should meet my other ex, he checked into the nursing home down the road last week.â
âVery funny.â He muttered, trying but failing to look unamused.
âI know I am.â
âGo.â He urged as he tapped your backside affectionately.
You raised your hands in mock defeat, slipping back into the pitt without another word.
Jack shook his head as the door shut softly behind you, a lovesick smile spreading across his face.
smoking had never interested you before but when the local dealer catches your eye, you might get the experience of a professional
after a long, exhausting day at work, all theodore truly longed for was your presenceâyour warmth, your voice. but when he arrived home, he received far more than that
December rolls around and Theodore threatens to drown into the yawning abyss of his own mind, but not on your watch. Time to bring some light into the dark, even at risk of blinding him just a little.
Theo always acts like itâs an inconvenience. The way his sweaters disappear into the abyss of your wardrobe, but when you walk into a crowded room wearing something that still carries his scent, his patience stretches thin, because everyone can see what he already knows. Youâre his, and you always will be
a night out with the boys goes awry when draco concocts a nightmare combination of tequila and potions, causing a disastrous turn of events in which theo nott finally spills his deepest, darkest secret
after a minor spat, theodore finds what he thinks is your animagus form sulking in the courtyard and spends an entire hour apologizing to it â only to discover heâs been emotionally unloading on derek averyâs cat. at least theoâs humiliation proves one thing: he really would do anything to earn your forgiveness (even buy the fancy salmon treats).
Theodore Nott is determined to ask you to the Yule Ballâbut subtle hints, awkward near-confessions, and endless sabotage from his chaotic Slytherin friends turn it into a full-blown disaster. You, curled up in his stolen sweater and completely oblivious, might just be the one thing holding him together⌠or pushing him over the edge
Theo swears he doesn't care about the countdown, the party, or any of the noise. Until he realizes he cares very much about one thing: kissing you when the clock strikes midnight.
cuteness aggression with theo omg đ like either him or reader jst getting major cuteness aggression from each other cause ugh, i wanna bite him SO. BAD!! itâs a problem actually, dudaâŚđ
i loved this idea so bad that i spent the whole day writing it, trying to make it perfect. i can TOTALLY see reader being overly affectionate towards theo and he reacting like âđ ughâ and pretending he is not loving it. with that said, i wrote reader attacking theo, because i can't really imagine him doing it because aaaaalll of his issues. thank you for the ask, anon <3
cuteness aggression with theo.
theodoreâs room was quiet at two in the morning, the kind of quiet that settles only after bodies have spoken the oldest language in the earth. your bodies lay tangled together in the way you both arrived into the worldânaked, bare, and freed from any restraint and barriers that clothes could offer after an hour of intense love making. beneath the blankets, you were warm and protected from the merciless winter cold of the scottish night, and the only sounds that disturbed the silence were your mingled breaths.
and, well, the sounds of your mouth against theodoreâs skin.
you didnât know what had gotten into you. when you both collapsed back onto the mattress (far more luxurious than anything any other hogwarts student owned, mind you, a courtesy of theodoreâs old and powerful last name), sweaty and tired, something about him looked different to you. the vulnerability and relaxation the lines of his naked body expressed, combined with his dilated pupils and the raspy tone in his voiceâevident in the whispers born from all the effort of the moans and grunts he had let escape moments agoâmade him look excessively gorgeous.
so gorgeous you couldnât hold yourself back.
your lips, swollen from your recent activities, found theodoreâs cheek in a series of wet kisses, with no sexual intention, unlike the ones you had shared an hour prior. theodore glanced at you sideways, confused, but didnât move.
that stillness told you everything: he liked this.
so you climbed atop of him, your breasts brushing his chest, and you began kissing all across the expanse of his face. eventually, theo protested softly, a whispered âwhat are you doing,â but the question was cut short by a lingering, silencing kiss from your warm mouth. one of his calloused handsâmade rough by years of quidditchârested on your lower back, and the other found its place on your nape, almost guidingâpleadingâwhere he wanted your kisses. excluding you from the equation, no one could say theodore was an overly affectionate person. before you, fucking women and then forgetting their names was his pattern, seeking only the carnal, never real tenderness. when a few girls confused things and dared to try to hold theodoreâs hand in the great hall, he put them in their place and was painfully clear when he said he âdidnât fuck with clingy girls.â
but when you entered his life and his certainties began to shift, theodore found himself likingâcraving, actuallyâyour bouts of affection. still, due to his own emotional blockages, the pda was limited to a hand on your back, your waist, your shoulder, your fingers entwined with his. he let the big, innocent devotion and kisses be your territory, understanding that he simply wasnât the type of man to do what you did, the way you did it.
in subtle ways, he showed you he accepted your gentle touches, even if he rolled his eyes because he needed to âkeep his composure.â to you, it was obvious, and needed no further explanation: he enjoyed it.
âyouâre cute,â you whisper between pecks on his cheek, your index finger tracing the bridge of his nose. your lips wandered to his chin, his dark circles, temple, his forehead and the tip of his nose, making soft pops that caused a faint tickle on his skin. âvery cute.â
he lifts a his thick eyebrow, gray eyes half-lidded as he looks at you as though youâve said something outrageously untrue. âcute?â he murmurs, his thumb stroking your back slowly, gently. âi just fucked your brains out, and youâre calling me cute?â he says crudely.
you meet his tone with ease, fluent in the language of theodore nott. âthereâs no use trying to break the moment by being crude, theodore.â you hiss softly, your kisses now paying special attention to the beauty mark on his right cheekbone. that damn enchanting, maddening and lovely mole. âyou still look very cute to me.â
he always tried to break the moment whenever you looked too in love with him. it was a pattern; as if he got embarrassed receiving attention meant purely and solely for tenderness.
as your heart seemed to overflow with love for the man who was your momentary personal mattress, your kisses grew firmer, more aggressive. more playful. after spending a good while on that specific mole, your attention shifted to his sharp jawline, delivering wet, loud, hard kisses that made him flinch. âhandsome,â your voice is clearer now. âeven when you try to be an ogre.â
his eyes squeezed shut, brows wrinkling and his nose scrunching in a way that summoned bunny lines where your finger had traced earlier. âstop,â he said, without really meaning it, a blush uncharacteristic of him gathering across his pale, thin cheeks. âstop, bambinaâŚâ
once again, silenced by a peck; this time not as gentle and quick, but longer and lovingly aggressive.
he gave up trying. theodore simply knew it was pointless.
your laughter echoed through the dark room, delicate and sincere, the sound carried with amusement and delight at seeing him sink into his own blush. briefly, your lips found his adamâs apple, but soon returned to his face. your soft hands cradled his cheeks, and at this point, theodore was sulking. another kiss was pressed to the tip of his nose.
âas i said,â you look at him, now facing you back, his embarrassment painting his cheeks a beautiful shade of scarlet. âcute.â
he rolls his eyes. you were fucking insufferable.
he loves pointing out when he makes you blush. it doesnât seem quite as fun when heâs the victim of the unbearable heat running through his own face.
Your sleep is interrupted by your very annoying boyfriend.
Itâs pitch black outside when you wake up to someone laying next to you in bed.
Your hand reached for the stake under Damonâs pillow instinctively, fingers gripping the wood tight. You quickly turned in bed and aimed at the mass next to you.
âWho the-â You froze as your eyes adjusted to the darkness. Beside you is none other than the bedâs owner. âFuck off, Damon.â You groan as you slide the stake back into place under his pillow.
Damon chuckled. âWhy should I? Youâre the one in my bed.â He cupped your cheek and kissed the tip of your nose. âI guess I probably shouldâve let you know I was home.â
âDuh. Who sneaks up on their partner in the middle of the night like that when they know thereâs vamps and werewolves out and about?â You retorted.
His hand snaked around your back, pulling you into his chest. âYeah, yeah. Youâre right, Iâm wrong. Nothing new.â
âDamn right.â You nodded into his chest, melting into his touch and scent. He smelled clean, like bergamot soap.
âDid you shower when you got back?â
âYeah, didnât wanna get blood on the sheets.â
âHow sweet.â You mumbled sarcastically.
âI know!â He replied, matching your tone. âWouldnât wanna ruin these nice sheets huh?â
You pinched his side and shoved him back. âShut up, Damon.â
He smiled slyly, his teeth glinted in the low moonlight. âAnd why would I do that?â
âBecause youâre being annoying and irritating and obnoxious all while Iâm trying to sleep.â You grumbled and turned your back to him.
âAw, donât pout about it. We both know you love how annoying, irritating, and obnoxious I am.â He purred as he slotted himself against your back.
You rolled your eyes and ignored him.
âWell, I hope you know that Iâm all those things because you let me be.â He whispered and kissed your shoulder.
You sighed and intertwined one of your hands with his against your stomach. He was right. Damon was a major brat, but only because you allowed it. âGoodnight.â
The power of love
Series: The vampire Diaries
Parring: Elijah Mikealson x female reader
Summary: Request! You turn your humanity off and everyone try to turn it back on. Fear is the best trick in the box. And what's scarier than the man you love leaving?
Warnings: Mentions of killing, kissing, neck snapping.
âIm hereâ I sang waltzing through the Salvatore door. But to my surprise, I didnât see who I thought I would. Instead I saw my boyfriend sat with Damon and Stefan on the three seater, and Bonnie and Caroline opposite. Alaric was stood up with his leg against the wall and his arms folded and Tyler was shuffling on his feet next to him.
And every single one of them looked straight at me. Their faces blank, their eyes wide and full of sadness and shock. I looked for my sisters face, or my brothers. I checked behind me only using my neck to turn my head. My body was frozen. But they werenât behind me either. âWhatâs- going on?â I blinked at them all as the wind rushed into the house.
âClose the door my loveâ Elijah called out, standing up off the sofa. âO-okayâ I stuttered closing the door slowly not removing eye contact with him.
"What's going on- is everyone okay?" I asked taking a step closer to the people. "Where's Elena and Jer?" I called out, Elijah's face dropped straight away.
"Can you come and sit down baby"
"No" I frowned folding my arms. Feeling the anger of the awkward situation course through my veins.
"Y/N..." he whispered putting a hand out gently.
"Im going home" I stated, reaching for the door handle.
"Theres nothing left of your home Y/N" Caroline called out desperately.
I couldn't find it in myself to turn around and look at her. Or any of them. I had to process what she had just said.
"There was a fire" Bonnie continued for her. "I'm so sorry y/n- Elena and Jeramy were caught inside it".
My eye began to go blurry and my knees felt so light they could hardly hold me up. I felt my body start to fall to the floor in slow motion. Elijahs arms wrapped round me pulling me into his body for safety just in time before I hit the wooden floor.
"Y/N" he gasped out clutching me closer to his body.
I count reply.
I just cried into his shirt, floods and floods of tears. I didn't believe it for a second, but then I considered everyone's solum faces.
How could this have happened.
"Who did this?" I cried out feeling my hear physically break for my siblings.
"Katherine" Damon spat out, his face looked as if he'd smelt gone off milk.
My crying came to a slow stop as I felt my eyes close. I didn't even mean to close them, I just felt them slip. As I did I let myself go in between Elijahs arms. Suddenly- within seconds all the pain flooded away.
I didn't feel upset anymore. I felt like a new person. I didn't care at all about all these people. I didn't care about the fire- or being on the floor.
I sat up out of Elijahs arms.
"No- Y/N- you didn't" he whispered under his breath, shaking his head.
"I didn't what?" I laughed rolling my eyes, standing up off the floor, dusting my outfit off.
"You turned it off" Stefan echoed sadly. The room all looked to me with a shocked expression, to see if I really had.
"I-ve let go" I raised an eyebrow and put a hand on my hip. "Now if you'll excuse me- have things to do, people to see" I looked at them all with a big smile.
Their eyes were washed with terror. Terror for what I was going to do. And for their lost friend, that they weren't sure if they could ever get back.
And with that I vamp ran out the Salvatore house and away, leaving the door wide open.
âY/n- no!â Elijah called out jumping up, but Damon put his arm out. âThis could be good for herâ he whispered looking Elijah in the eyes. âWho are you to tell me whatâs good for her?â He pushed Damon off of him and away.
âHey! Sheâs my friend I care about her tooâ âNot! The way I doâ Elijah put his hand out warning Damon to stop. âStop arguing!â Caroline sighed rolling her eyes.
âWe have to go and find her- and turn it back onâ she expressed desperately looking around the room for help. âItâs not that easy careâ Stefan shook his head looking out the door.
âFor goodness sake- this couldnât have gone any worseâ Bonnie muttered to herself wedging herself between everyone. She walked to the side of the room and everyoneâs eyes followed. âThis is hers right?â.
She picked up a grey jumper and held it up to the peopleâs standing in the living room. Elijah nodded once and smiled slightly. âYou wish to do a locator spell, very good Bonnieâ.
She raised an eyebrow as her arm dropped to her hip. âMmhm- someone close the doorâ she ordered, walking towards a table to set up.
Elijah breathed over her shoulder watching as bonnie gathered what she needed. "Elijah- we all want to find her just as much as each other" she raised an eyebrow.
"You don't understand" he shook his head, but still taking a step back. "Yes I do" Damon and Stefan both said simultaneously. They looked at each other and most of the group held a stare at them.
Bonnie looked away shaking her head but used the silence as a way to start the spell. She began muttering her magical words growing louder and louder.
The line carved through the map and everyone's eyes followed the curves and turns. They were anxious, a drop of sweat rolled down Elijahs brow.
"The town grill?" Everyone looked up and around for matts eyes. "He wanted to be here- but he had to work" Tyler shrugged gently. "Why is she going after- matt?" Elijah darted his head back.
"Properly because matt is annoying`' Damon shrugged being honest. The group gave him evil eyes and his hands shot up in defence. "What" he giggled.
âLetâs goâ Elijah squinted his eyes, and he darted out of the house. âElijah!â Stefan yelled taking a step forward. âHeâs not going to be able to stop herâ Bonnie shook her head. âSheâs going to go off the railsâ Caroline put her hand in her hair becoming more stressed.
âLetâs go thenâ Bonnie nodded and looked to Alaric and Tyler. âIâll drive us down- you guys get there and support ElijahâBonnie ordered pointing and the door swinging in the wind.
And once a plan was put in place they all stepped like lava was covering the floor.
//The Grill//
"Y/n" matt smiled as I sat across from him at the bar. "You look- nice" he looked down at my outfit change. I never really wore tight clothes but now I had a black corset on. And a small denim skirt.
"Different" he raised an eyebrow. "Oh, thank you" I blushed showing him a row of teeth. "What are you doing here?" he asked drying a glass with a white cloth. "I came to get a drink, a rum and coke please, and I came to see you" I tiled my head staring into his eyes.
I tuned my hair behind my ear and waited for a response. He looked flustered. I hadn't flirted with anyone in a long while, and I was only doing it now to play games with matt. But I didn't feel any feelings toward Elijah right now.
And definitely not Matt. He placed the glass on the bar and reached for the Rum. "When can you take your break?" I lifted my eyebrow up, "You'll have a drink with me huh?". His cheeks turned red and he kept pouring the rum until it was half full and he realised what he was doing.
He giggled and looked around. "No one saw that" he breathed and filled it up with coke until full. "I can take it now- haven't had it" he swallowed putting another glass on the table, and tipping a single of whisky inside.
"It's hot in here though, why don't we catch up outside?" I suggested shrugging a little bit, my right hand brought my drink up yeti my lips and I sipped holding eye contact.
"Are you and Elijah finished or something?" he questioned taking his own glass in his hands. "Does it matter" I rolled my eyes and jumped down off the seat. I turned my back and headed for the exit, hoping he would follow. I was waiting for a second but of course he did. Men.
"Y/n?" Matt called out from the bottom of the stairs. I was about half way up. I turned with vampire eyes and leaped towards him. Matt jerked his head back and yelled.
But I never reacher it. Instead I was ripped out the air and tucked into a body. "Elijah let go" I squealed realising it was him from his sent instantly. "Baby! What are you doing!" he gasped, I dug my nails into him and push backwards. "Stop it" he grunted as I elbowed him and managed to loosen his grasp.
I freed myself just to be pushed to the ground by Damon. "Leave me alone! All of you- how did you even find me" I looked at them both angrily. "I would always find you"Elijah smiled trying to be romantic. "Why would you try and kill Matt Y/n" Damon shook his head, I crawled backwards and laughed shaking my head.
"Isn't it obvious- he's annoying- he never dies" I rolled my eyes and bounced up. Stefan vamp ran behind me and I heard Matt scoff. Caroline appeared behind Stefan further up the steps with her arms folded.
"This is pathetic" I rolled my eyes and looked towards Damon. If I could get past him, there was no one stopping me. "Don't even think about it" he raised his eyebrows looking towards me.
"Elijah- please- tell them to stop" I looked at him sadly. "Like that will work" Matt scoffed from where he was watching. "No- this is unsafe- you need to come home- you need to come bacK" He shook his head sadly.
"Damon- you don't even like Matt" I pointed top him and Damon took his eyes off me to look at him. And I took my chance. I darted across the bottom and past him jumping up the stairs. "Fuck" Damon coughed out spinning on his heels.
But just as I reached the top Bonnie stepped into my shadow. She threw her hands out and I flew down the stairs back to the bottom. I groaned out in pain rolling on the floor holding my back in pain.
I heard her fingers snap and everything turned back after the sting in my neck.
When I woke up next my arms were chained behind my back to a bed I was lying on. I blinked in the dingy light noticing I was in the cellar of the Salvatore house. The bolt on the door opened almost instantly.
"Elijah- I chocked out looking at him with blurry vision. "Hey baby" he whispered sitting down in front of me. "What are you doing- get me out of here" I pulled against the chains but I didn't go anywhere. "I can't - imagine need you to get better first- I love you baby" he told me putting his hand on my leg.
"It's over Elijah I have no feelings for you" I scrunched my face up and pulled my leg away. His face dropped in sadness but he quickly fixed himself. "You're just is pain right know, I am going to help you baby">
"Stop calling me that! I don't want anything to do with you or anyone in this house, I want bro be free and far away from you all" I frowned pulling on the metal against. just to make sure dramatic noise.
He didn't say anything. Just inhaled a deep breath. "Y/n I want to marry you- I want us to start our life together- I need you to come back to me" he welled up looking into my eyes and leaning slightly forward. "Please".
"I am not yours anymore" I replied with a flick of fire on my tongue. "I see" he sighed, standing up and turning to the door. "Where are you going> to mope?" I snapped, not really wanting him to leave.
He sighed again and left without word. Elijah climbed the stairs to the living room. "How is she" Caroline gasped looking over the arm of the sofa. Soon everyone's eyes were on him. "She's awake" he shrugged starting off "but she's just as bad- tried telling g me she has no feelings for me" he looked to the ground.
"You know that's not true- not deep down" Stefan shook his head standing up defensively. "I know- it's still so hard to hear" he replied with a flat tone. He took a seat on one of the sofas and put his head in his hands.
"So when do we start the toucher?" Damon raised his eyebrow. Elijah's head snapped up at him and his eyes were full of fire. "You won't lay a finger on her" "fear is a good way to get her to turn it on" Stefan shrugged his shoulder. "No" Elijah sternly shut the conversation down.
"There must be another way" he whispered to himself, his hand slowly reached into his suit pocket and he pulled out a small, black velvet box. "I was- going to give this to her tomorrow- we had plans to go on a date- I was going to take her to a great sun set spot" he told everyone.
The room fell into a sad silence, everyone's faces long. "Elijah- you will get your chance to give it o her" Bonnie whispered sweetly, feeling her own eyes fill up with tears. "I just want her back- we can get through it together I know we can" he winced allowing a tear to run down his face.
"Maybe there's another way to evoke fear" Stefan looked up rapidly towards Elijah and waited for him to do the same before continuing. "she might be saying she has no feelings for you- but we all know that isn't true" he tiled his head gently and a smirk started forming on his face.
"But what if she thought you really were leaving- that she would never see you again- that you didn't want to marry her" he suggested becoming more enthusiastic as he continued. "You want me to pretend to break up with her?" Elijah sat up straight and thought about the suggestion logically.
"Not jut break up with her- you have to break her heart- do you have it in you? To get her back" Stefan questioned scooting forwards on the sofa. Elijah kept quiet, thinking. His head nodded once. He wasn't happy about it, but he was confident in his need for her to be back in his arms.
"I can do it" he confirmed and clued the ring in his hand before putting it away. The original stock up and straightened out his suit. "I'll bring her back".
With that he made his way back down to the cellar leaving everyone else quietly sat, waiting. Elijah pressed his hand on the door and took a silent deep breath before unlocking and pushing it open.
I whipped my head up to look at the person entering. "Oh you're back? Here to pour your heart out again" I rolled my eyes looking away at the wall. "No Y/n- I have come to say goodbye" he smiled weakly, closing the door behind him.
My eyebrows curled up in confusion, making me look his way again. "I realised this is not with my time" his shouldered lifted in a shrug and came down with a thud. "Who knows how long it will take for your humanity to turn back on- im not in love with this" He laughed throwing hid head back.
"No I liked you how you were but- this is boring- i'm not waiting around for you to fix yourself" he scoffed stalking towards me. I wasn't even sure what to say, was he being serious? "You ruined it- like you ruin everything- I wanted to marry you- I told you" he pulled a face of disgust at me.
His hand reached into his blazer and he pulled out a box clearly for a ring. My heart pounded against my chest. "What a fool I was to think you could hold it together until then" he rolled his eyes lifting the lid and showing me a spraining silver ring.
"My mother gave me a ring and I had the stone removed and placed into this ring- she told me to give it to the right person- and god did I almost mess up" he shook his head taking the ring out and twisting it around in his fingers.
"You- don't mean any of this" I choked out eventually, but he install just laughed. "No?" he raised his eye brow and in a flash he threw the ring to the ground. "no" I gasped under my breath, and in the next second he stamped into the ring with vamp strength.
"ELIAJH NO" I screamed out throwing my arms towards it but the chains just yanked me back. My eyes widened in desperation and sadness and his foot lifted up. I stared at the shattered parts of the stone and he bent, squished mental rim.
"You won't see me again Y/n" he told me sternly and slapped the box closed. He turned on his heels walking towards the door. "What a waste of time" he scoffed throwing the box behind his back. I watched it bounce on the floor before turning my attention to the handle.
"Elijah- wait- wait- ELIAJH WAIT DON' LEAVE" I screamed as he stepped out of the door frame. And that was it. My body flew forward and my eyes closed. I felt all my emotions running back, flooding my veins.
My eyes filled with water as the door shut close. "NO YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME TOO" I screamed out with tears streaming down my face within seconds. "NO not my family not you as well Elijah please, oh god" I sobbed wrestling against the chains I was strapped to.
The room was silent apart fro my sniffles. And then the door burst open. HIs face was different, he was worried, he was soft again. "Y/n?" he questioned, his voice cracking in pain. "Elijah" I wailed shaking my head.
"Please don't leave me" I cried out desperately writing as far forward as I could get. "Please- I came back to you please I can't lose you too I can't" I weeped, my face soaking wet as a result of me being unable to wipe it.
He vamp ran to my side and threw his arms around my neck. "It's okay baby- it's okay- i'm not going anywhere" he whispered kissing the top of my forehead. I continued to howl into his chest letting every emotion I could out.
He sat there waiting in silence for about ten minutes before I calmed down. Elijah unlocked my chains and I crawled into his arms onto his lap. "I love you too" I whispered into his neck wrapping my arms around it and being as close as I could to him.
"I love you so much and I am never going anywhere- we are going to get through everything together" he whispered back, stroking my cheek with his finger.
"And you're going to be my wife" he breathed squeezing my body. "But your mother's stone" I squeaked feeling bad that it was in shards now. "My mother did give me a ring, but the stone will be made into your wedding ring- that was not the stone" he told me honestly.
I looked up at him with big eyes and smiled out of relief. "I'm sorry I lied" he threw me a sad look but I shook my head and put his chin in my hand. "I'm sorry I turned it off" I told him and then planted a small his onto his soft lips.
"I will always come to you in the future- I won't do that again" I explained with a gentle smile. "I'm always here for you- of course you can come to me" he tucked a strand of hair behind my head and was about to kiss me again before we were disturbed with a knock at the door.
"I see it worked" Stefan smiled proudly, and I could see the rest of the group standing behind him.
"The power of love Stefan, of course it worked, that was the most frightening thing you could have put me through" I nodded folding my boyfriend into my chest.
âwhat are you trying to do?â sukuna sighs.
youâre up to something again, he figures. his red eyes follow your body as it crawls up to him on the bed.
youâre both tired after a long day of fulfilling some duties here and there around the estate. all you need is a big beefy man wrapping his arms around you to keep you warm and safe.
the perfect man for that is none other than sukuna. those four arms of his wrapped around your small body feel like heaven.
âitâs called cuddling,â you retort. the sarcastic tone you used triggers a deep sigh from the sorcerer.
sukuna holds back the urge to say something sarcastic back.
he doesnât utter a single word once you snuggle up to his chest. youâve taught him how to cuddle during the first time you asked him to hold you. sukuna was awkward with showing any type of affection back then.
he still very much is.
âhug, please,â you remind him.
the cold-hearted man scoffs, though listens to your polite request. all four of his arms imprison you against his chest, your small body nearly disappearing behind his limbs.
thatâs what you like most about those cuddles you share together; how you fit so perfectly in his strong arms. itâs much more comforting than you thought itâd be.
a pair of hands rests on your waist, the other pair on your hips. sukuna glances down at you and immediately notices that smile on your lips. even after all this time, he still canât fathom why youâre so carefree around a monster like him.
and that inability to understand you and your love for him is accompanied by an urge to push you away.
âyou got your hug, now get up,â sukuna interrupts the silence.
his voice is cold and devoid of emotionâhe uses that voice when he talks to other people. not with you, âi have better things to attend to.â
it hurts when he talks to you like that. like youâre not the person he secretly cherishes most. though, you remind yourself of sukunaâs own words. the ones you heard him say a while ago.
âlove is meaninglessâ, he said.
you remember. and yet you kept hoping that heâd change his mind about that statement. you hoped and eventually saw exactly that: your presence and your affectionate gestures mellowed his heart of steel.
but all that effort seems to go down the drain every time sukuna pushes you away.
you know itâs because heâs unfamiliar with the feelings of love. he may not say it nor show it, but you know that sukunaâs afraid of hurting you. so, he creates a gap between you two every now and then.
you know and yet youâre patient.
âoh, âkay,â you nod in understanding. you pull away from his embrace and get up from the bed. your bottom lip trembles.
sukuna is not gullible. heâs anything but oblivious. especially if itâs about how you feel and act. he notices every single change in your mood; whether you mask it or not.
you walk to the sliding doorsâready to open them and step out into the hallway. your eyes are a bit watery, but you quickly blink the tears away and take a deep breath in. you reach for the door.
â. . . come back here, woman.â
sukunaâs booming voice makes you stop. you glance at his form over your shoulder. heâs leaning against the headboard of the bed, arms crossed and eyebrows furrowed.
is he. . . upset?
âwhy? you said you had better things to attend to.â you answer with a shrug. you try your best to not make it seem like his earlier words had effected you.
you turn your head towards the word with a huff, âgo on, then.â
sukuna narrows his eyes. he sucks at communicating what he actually desiresâwhat he actually wants. right now that want is for you to stay. even though that completely contradicts his previous words.
he doesnât know what to do. when youâre with him, he pushes you away out of guilt. when youâre away, he wants you back with him.
love is complicated.
âyou. . .â sukuna grunts in frustration. all those feelings for you inside of his heart are playing with his rational thoughts. he doesnât like seeing you upset. he wants the usual you back, âtsk. fine then.â
silence, followed by the creaking of the bed frame. seems like sukunaâs getting up to do whatever âbusinessâ he needed to attend. at least, thatâs what you thought.
you slide the door open and set a foot outside of the chambers. before the other can follow, youâre suddenly lifted up in the air by a strong pair of hands. your vision turns upside down as your body is effortlessly hoisted onto a shoulder.
âwoah!â you gasp and feel the blood go to your head.
your eyes are fixed on the broad back youâre facing. you kick your legs in protest, but only get a smack to your ass in response.
you whine at that, ângh, put me down!â
âwatch it, doll,â sukuna hisses at your fierce demand, a warning to fix your tone. he puts you back down on the soft mattress. heâs surprisingly gentle when he settles you in placeânot throwing you on the bed or anything similar, âshouldâve listened when i told you the first time.â
your eyes meet sukunaâs and you notice how much theyâve softened. that alone makes the lump in your throat disappear. your love for him isnât one sidedâyouâve always kept that in the back of your mindâyet your thoughts made you overlook the little things he does for you.
his actions speak louder than his words. thatâs the kind of man he is. sukunaâs trying to open up more, though that process is slow. youâre fine with that.
especially when thereâs that faint pout on his lips as he stares at you. his eyebrows are still furrowed, his crimson eyes sharp yet warm.
âoooh⌠you want me back in bed this bad?â you tease once you get the opportunity.
the man in front of you clicks his tongue and grabs your cheeks with one hand, turning your head up to face him.
sukunaâs eyes are focused on yours. the eye contact is intimidating, but youâre hypnotised. you physically canât look away.
he leans in and bites your bottom lip with his sharp canines, âshut up.â
that raspy whisper alone confirms your assumption. you giggle at his attempt of refuting your point. youâre used to all those intimidating words and actions he pulls to get you to stop your teasing.
those empty threatsâitâs becoming rather cute with how hard he tries to deny everything. he fails nearly every time, however.
âcome,â sukuna lays back against the pillows after placing a quick and sloppy kiss against your lips. he pulls your body against his and presses your head against his chest, right where his heart is beating, âcontinue with your.. âcuddlingâ thing.â
he put your ear right above his heart, because he remembers listening to his heartbeat calms you down. you told him that a while back. sukuna doesnât understand why you like it, but his fingers massage your scalp either way.
thatâs also something that brings you comfort.
youâre surprised by how much he knows about you, but appreciate it anyway. he remembers both the big and small things about you.
âand thatâs how he probably shows his love,â you conclude silently.
Summary: The boys tease David for how soft heâs become around you (but Dwayne notices his insecurities)
Warnings: fluff, teasing, slight angst. The events of the film took place before he met you (including Star and Michael), but none of the boys died
Word count: around 550
You were asleep in the large bed inside their candlelit cave. David, still barechested after your heated session, kept you in his arms and couldnât take his eyes off of you.Â
With the softest touch, so different from how roughly he had taken you only half an hour ago, he traced your profile, down to the fresh bitemark on your exposed neck, and then up again.
He was so enthralled that, despite his heightened senses, he didnât even hear the others fly back in.
âWonât you look at that,â Marko commented in a teasing voice as Paul giggled behind him. âDavidâs in loooooove!â
David jolted back slightly, as if awoken from a trance, and turned towards them.Â
âQuiet,â he shushed them in a whisper, tilting his head towards your sleeping shape.
âAww, and heâs even worried about us waking her,â Paul commented, resting his elbow on Markoâs shoulder, his voice lower but just as teasing. âOur leader has become such a softie.â
âI said quiet!â he repeated, vamping out.
The others didnât even flinch.
âYouâre not fooling anyone,â Marko shrugged. Then, he raised an eyebrow: âAlso, sleeping in bed?â and he tutted before turning towards Paul. âRemember what he told us, that time we fell asleep there after having sex with those chicks?âÂ
âHow could I forget? He said âItâs against nature for us to sleep like thatâ.â
David returned to his human-passing features and rolled his eyes. âGo sleep upside down, then, before I send you up there myself.â
The other two kept chuckling as they flew towards the back of the cave.Â
Dwayne echoed them for a moment but then managed to stop. He walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
âDonât listen to them. Itâs good to see you happy. I mean it. Especially after⌠you know.â
After Star, first, and then Michael.
David took a deep breath, looked at you, and then at Dwayne again. He stayed silent, a part of him begging him to protect himself by keeping his usual guard up. The same part that kept trying to prepare him for the impending hurtâbecause this was all too good to be true, and surely, you would have left him too, eventually.
âI think you can trust her, you know?â Dwayne went on, as if reading his mind. âWe all do. They wouldnât be teasing you like that, otherwise.â
David threw you another glance as you kept sleeping in his arms. Then, after studying the genuine look in the dark eyes of his second in command, he eventually let out his breath and nodded. âThank you.â
Dwayne lifted the corner of his lips and squeezed his shoulder before joining the others.
David went back to looking at you and caressing your profile.Â
You twitched and opened your eyes.
âIs everything alright?â you asked in a sleepy voice, looking around.
âEverythingâs okay, dove. Go back to sleep.â
You put on a childish voice. âOne more goodnight kiss first?â
He made a big show of rolling his eyes to distract himself from how fast his heart started to beat.
Then, he lowered his head to press his lips against yours. As you smiled, he felt himself do the same.
You placed your head back against his chest and closed your eyes. ââNight, David.â
âGoodnight, dove.â
Yeah, he thought, caressing your hair. Maybe I can trust you.
Captured by the hypnotic melody, you surrender to sleep in the arms of Neverland's dark king.
The bonfire was a living, roaring beast tonight, throwing massive tongues of orange and violet flames toward the canopy of Neverland. The heat was a physical wall, washing over the camp and making the air warp and shimmer.
Around the blazing heat, the Lost Boys were a blur of wild, frenzied motion. Peterâs pipe wasn't playing a gentle tune yet; it was sharp, rhythmic, and commanding. The boys danced to the heartbeat of the island, stamping their bare feet into the dirt, their shadows stretching and twisting against the jungle trees like frantic giants. They leapt over logs and chanted in low, guttural tones, completely possessed by the melody Pan was spinning from his throne of petrified roots.
You were sitting right at Peter's feet, leaning back against his shins. Initially, you were right there with them, clapping your hands to the beat, laughing your bright, eccentric laugh, and tossing a crown of wilting jasmine into the air, but as the night deepened, the relentless energy of the camp began to take its toll.
Your heavy clapping slowed to a gentle pat. Your eyes, fixed on the hypnotic swirling of the flames, started to feel like lead. You watched the sparks explode like dying stars, your mind wandering to a hundred beautiful, nonsensical thoughts.
Sensing the change in you, Peterâs fingers moved differently over the holes of his pipe. The wild, frantic rhythm slowed. The sharp notes smoothed out, transitioning into a low, droning, hypnotic melody that felt like velvet dragged over moss.
The boys instinctively followed the music. Their chaotic leaping subsided into a slow, swaying, trance-like dance. They moved in a wide, rhythmic circle, their heads bowed, completely captured by the heavy lullaby Pan was weaving. The entire clearing began to feel sleepy, wrapped in an eerie, stifling calm.
You fought to keep your eyes open, but the heat of the fire in front of you was so warm, and the cold stillness of the boy behind you was so comforting. With a soft sigh, your eyes fluttered closed, the dancing boys turning into a soft blur before everything went dark.
The moment your breathing deepened into sleep and your weight went completely slack against his legs, Peter moved. The music didn't stop, he didn't miss a single note, but with supreme, effortless grace, he transitioned to playing the pipe with just his left hand, keeping the low, haunting melody humming through the air without a single stammer in the rhythm.
With his right hand, he reached down. His long, calloused fingers curled securely under your arms, and with a single, fluid pull, he lifted you off the dirt and right onto him.Â
You murmured something soft and incoherent in your sleep, a tiny sigh escaping your lips as the sudden movement shifted you. Instinctively, your body sought out his familiar warmth, and you settled directly onto his lap. Your face tucked perfectly into the crook of his neck, your nose pressing against the cool skin of his collarbone, while your hands loosely clutched the fabric of his green tunic. Peter adjusted his hold, wrapping his strong arm firmly around your waist, pulling you so flush against his chest that there wasn't a breath of space left between you. He cradled you there, the wooden pipe held steady with his other hand as the music continued to breathe life into the shadows around the fire.
He looked down, his emerald eyes dark and heavy as they fixed on your sleeping face. In the flickering orange glow of the bonfire, your features were soft, completely devoid of the sharp edges of fear that plagued every other soul on this island.
A quiet, terrifying sense of triumph swelled in his chest as he watched you. He thought about how easily you surrendered to the dark, how completely you trusted the very monster the rest of the world ran from. He noted the way your fingers tightened slightly on his tunic, even in sleep, as if your subconscious knew exactly who held you.Â
You aren't going anywhere, he thought, a slow, predatory smirk touching the corners of his lips as the pipe continued its low hum.
The world can search for you, the heroes can fight for you, but you sleep in the arms of the beast, and you choose to stay.
He leaned his head down just enough to let his lips brush against your hair, inhaling the sweet, wild scent of jasmine and woodsmoke that belonged entirely to his favourite prize.Â
As the boys continued their mindless, rhythmic swaying in the background, Peter kept playing, his mind wrapping around the terrifying, beautiful reality that you were exactly where you would remain forever.
With you locked securely in his embrace, he brought his hand back up to the wooden pipe. The full, rich depth of the melody returned, vibrating directly through his chest and into your sleeping frame.
The haunting tune echoed into the dark, a private tether disguised as a melody, keeping his only Lost Girl exactly where she belonged, dreaming under the watchful gaze of her king.
