In case you were wondering why buildings on Princes Street (Edinburgh, for the rest of you) keep going up in flames, this is your irregular reminder that Edinburgh Is The Most Corrupt City In Europe.

This is what happens when you have a Council (and ScotGov) made up of landlords and property developers. They're not big on 'regulations' which prevent their greed knowing the excesses it is used to. In fact they do their level best to see any such regulations are massively weakened by making sure their enforcement (Ho! Ho! Ho!) is underfunded.

Edinburgh is a city of well-filled brown-envelopes (old notes, no sequential numbers please..) and offshore accounts. Councillor Nice Little Earner, Senior Council Officer Bung and Chief Constable Nothing To See Here make absolutely sure nothing rocks the boat. "The Boat" being a wholly owned subsidiary of Tourist/Car/Property Lobby plc.

Whilst I relatively enjoyed JONATHAN CREEK, David Renwick's writing on the show was really fucking terrible. Being an established BBC schmoozer who knew (a) what he could get away with (with his mates who commissioned the series) and (b) what would appeal to the just-above-the-level-of-soap audiences. The thoroughly forced nature of everything and the use of 'comedy' to excuse appalling situations really grated, right from the start. A complete wince session all the way. But it STILL managed to be better than 90% of everything else the BBC waste public money on.

And it had some very good moments. Just moments, unfortunately, rather than hours, considering some of the episodes were two hours (too) long. Usually nothing to do with the alleged plots of these shows, just deft asides. Like the two above.

Last Friday two uniform cops illegally forced the gate at the side of the tenement that gives us access to our collective garden. They hung around looking over the fence into the next building's garden then left, leaving the security gate open and the lock so damaged it needs a lot of work to get it to open/close. The lock is integral to the gate so to replace it would mean a new gate and the Factors (those we pay to look after the building) who take £14.400 a year from those of us that live in this building, will not replace it.

One hour ago, Friday 16:45, a tourist in one of the illegal STLs (airbnb etc) in this stair buzzed in two junkies without checking who they were. I had to throw them out whilst every other fucker hid behind their doors, inluding the tourist cunt who buzzed them in.

There used to be 52,000 Edinbronians living in Old Town. Now there are around 3,000. Those of us left - with the full complicity of the Council, the Police and every 'business' around here - are under constant assault by entitled parasites and the crime they engender. Literally in our own homes.

The Cunt Service, the white goods supplier to Cuntley's our corporate landlord, have just, after leaving us for two weeks in JUNE without a fridge, delivered a new one.

I say new. It is, as with the 'cooker' they supplied, like something from the 1950's Easten bloc.

I also didn't know they made fridges this small anymore, unless as a desktop cooler.

Two vegetable containers. One from a small fridge (the larger one) and one from this 'fridge' that has just been delivered. It fits inside the other and is too small to fit a lettuce or cabbage in.
