I know someone who thinks being brave would be willing to put up his fists to someone trying to hurt another. Maybe that does make him brave, but I dont think it does. Because he isnt afraid to be hurt and if it comes to physical pain he will fight, but no other forms of suffering. He would stand by and do nothing as families lost their homes to our government. He wouldn’t lift a finger for many things. He taught me what bravery is, by seeing its absence. I challenge you to be brave. To really be brave. Your cheating if you want to die and you jump in front of a bullet. You’re cheating if physical pain is something you could live with and wouldn’t allow it for another. Yet other suffering you would happily hand out in your other actions though you yourself can barely survive the suffering you’re handed. Sometimes showing COMPASSION in a world that only seems to hold more suffering is the hardest thing. Thats why we live in a world that only hands out suffering, because so few are really brave.
