Free from sins

There are no shortcuts to life sanctification. There is no easy way to get the self underneath. Christian character is a matter of growth, not of gimmicks or formulas. Growth takes time. It also requires regular prayer, constant study, regular self-examination, constant openness to the witness of the Holy Spirit, and obedience to the utmost. We live in a world of instant coffee and ready-made food, But there is no ready-made solution to the sin of self. It must always begin with a new awareness of our sin, a daily re-confessed gratitude for the infinite grace of God, and the knowledge of being constantly liberated to live a holy life.

At the heart of the Christian faith stands a cross – a symbol of horrific injustice and oppression. Jesus himself was oppressed. He suffered and died. When we are the victims of oppression and injustice we can look to the cross and see that God knows what it is like. He suffers with us. But when we face up to the fact that sometimes we have been also been the oppressor and caused hurt to others we also need to look at the cross and there see that Jesus not only suffered with us but also for us. He took what I deserve. He makes it possible for me to be forgiven.
