Shadowpeach drabble

“Monkey King, if you don’t mind me asking, how close were you and Macaque?”

The question stuck Wukong like a sour chord. How should he respond? I held him in my arms, we would take long strolls with our tails wrapped around each other’s, I was his sunshine. No that was cringy.

Still… Wukong often found himself longing for the others company once again. To have him, to hold him, to kiss him. It would be great if he and Macaque could have that again. Sitting on the mountain top, eating peaches, enjoying the sunset, holding tails…

Another Shadowpeach drabble

One thing every celestial and demon knew, was glamour. Glamour was the magic light used by some to hide small imperfections in their appearances.

It was typically used for small things, such as a bad hair day, or if they wanted to change their eye color, or even to make ones nails look painted.

But some used it for other reasons. To hide scars, or mutations. Some even hid their birthmarks if they meant something bad.

That’s what Macaque used it for. Not for the birthmark thing, but the other two. Back in the monkey village, no one said anything about his 6 ears, but when he started studying under the same master that Wukong did, he noticed that his six ears were weird. Strange. Out of the ordinary. The first thing Macaque did when he learned to use glamour, was make his six ears look like two.

The scar hurt more. Remembering how he got it hurt. It wasn’t what the scar looked like that scared him, it’s what the scar meant. Looking at his blind eye only reminded him of his falling out with Wukong, and that Wukong hated him now.

So he uses glamour to hide these things. Feeling inadequate from society because of his ears, and emotional damage from his physical pain. No one had to see what they looked like.

“Macaque.” Wukong and Macaque were talking after MK had left for training. “Sup, sunshine?” He asked. “Do we want to teach MK glamour?” He asked with a little hesitancy.

“Yes,” Macaque was quick to agree. “Woah… uh, okay. Guess I’ll teach him that next,” the golden monkey huffed.

“Is there something wrong with glamour?” Macaque asked. His hand subconsciously moved up to his injured eye. “No no it’s just… Macaque, why do you use glamour?

Macaque felt his face twist into a sour look. He sat up from the tree root he had been laying on and looked at Wukong. “Macaque, I hope you know you look fine without it,” he continued.

Macaque shook his head. “No, no. It’s not about the way I look, it’s just… there are things I don’t want to see.”

“So what is it like being king?” Macaque asked. The two hadn’t seen each other much since Wukong’s coronation. “It’s been great, actually. They treat me well. Sorry I’ve been busy,” Wukong responded. Macaque smiled. “It’s okay. As long as we have moments like this.” As he said that, Wukong felt as Macaque took his hand and intertwined their fingers. Wukong smiled and wrapped his tail around the others.

The two continued walking well after dark, the moon was full, and had a beautiful silver shimmer to it. “Mango,”

“Yes, Peaches?”

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Wukong wished he could have moments like this with Macaque forever.
