“I’m pretty sure I already said I wasn’t going to be doing that,” she reminded, moving further into the room and going over to get some paper towels.  She dampened one, then brought the rest over with her to sit beside him.  “Come here,” she insisted, brushing his hands away and starting to dab gently at his nose and lip.  “You shouldn’t have said that, you know.”

               “god, you’re so stubborn..” if it wasn’t for carol and nancy’s obvious differences, they’d probably get along great. if given the chance, they probably would have become good friends. mainly because of this trait alone! then again, that’s just tommy’s brain speaking. it’s something that will probably never happen. he let’s out a heavy sigh, wincing whenever she started to dab at his nose and lip. “they had it comin’,” 

          She couldn’t help but laugh a little as Tommy defended himself. He was totally right in her opinion, calculus was fucking stupid. As she was poked playfully, Carol’s laughter continued despite her sharp words. “Oh, fuck off. That was a fluke.” They were completely undermined by the adoring look in her eyes though. Tommy was a great athlete and she couldn’t be more proud of him.

          Finally at her locker, Carol’s face wrenched in disgust at his suggestion that Steve may be busy. “Gross.” The pair didn’t have any room to judge anyone else’s activity choices but that never stopped them from judging anyway. “But no, we have some stupid project to work on. He knows I’m coming over.” Pulling out her textbooks and what she’d need for her homework tonight, she handed some of it off to Tommy so she wouldn’t have to carry all of it herself. 

          “I don’t know yet. Something cute?” As her locker slammed shut, Carol turned to look at him with pleading eyes. Her suggestion was a far cry from his earlier one, Nightmare On Elm Street.

                   that’s certainly not something that tommy plans on majority in. he already planned on majoring in psychology and minoring in music theory. then again, that’s not something he’d tell anyone else outside of carol and steve. they knew his life plan, the rest of the school? didn’t need to know that he was actually a big ole’ softie at the end of the day. well, a softie to---...two people and really that was it. “a fluke, huh? whatever you say, baby.”

                 “what? you know it’s the truth!” he can’t help but scoff at her disgust, his eyes rolling. “what kind of project?” it’s just that he’s jealous, mind you. he trusts steve and carol. “well, if he knows your comin’ over, i’ll drop you off or whatever.” by drop off, he’ll end up coming back an hour or two later, after practice, already bored out of his mind. hopefully they’d be able to finish the project before then because tommy probably wouldn’t leave after that. didn’t particularly like going straight home if he could avoid it.

          Nancy ducks her head, trying to hide the light flush to her cheeks. ❛ Yeah well — you noticed today. ❜ Her head lifts at the sound of his laugh ; she She never knows what to expect from Tommy, & today is no exception, but he’s talking to her, letting her finish talking too, & laughing? Part of her wants to outright ask him what he wants, the other just welcomes the change of pace. Why have a reason now? Her gaze falls to the closed court where Steve still is in answer to his question. ❛ Steve — ❜ How does she explain to Tommy that Steve & she had fought a monster together, that they’d talked, & they were … trying to be normal ( or as close as they could get ). How does she tell Tommy she wasn’t what they’d painted on the theater, & why does she want to? ❛ We talked & … I just — wanted to be here for Steve. ❜

                   “i notice a lot of things, nance. it all depends whenever i wanna call them out,” he’ll motion towards his eye with his index finger before motioning towards her. it’s true. tommy was way more in tune with his surroundings than he led on. it was the intense need to know what was going on at all times. that’s how he knew things before anyone really spoke of them. it’s because of him that news travels like wildfire. everyone was the little flame but tommy was the wind that made it bigger. nancy had the right to be skeptic of tommy’s apparent lighthearted nature. “wanted to be here for good ole’ stevie boy, huh?” dark eyes travel over towards the other, giving a little nod. “fair enough. you guys---...workin’ shit out or what?”
