the dynamic feels like 'jaded delinquent trying to get on the other's nerves x stubbornly kind, patient, and understanding' and now that i think more about them i'm kinda.......i’m living for it tbh 👀

in terms of my universe, after Duncan’s Christmas accident and Rusty’s breakdown:

Duncan’s become a lot more cynical and uncaring, feeling trapped by his injury, so having this relentlessly understanding and loving person by his side just...makes him happier :]

Rusty is decidedly this way to Duncan in order to honour his old friend, Stepney -- so unapologetically supportive and caring, and someone Rusty never could be. But goddamn, he’ll try.
