Winter Term Update!
After a relaxing fall break, my new winter term classes are off to a great start. Â I've also had the privilege to participate in a lot of fun activities, most notably Vikathon, where I got to eat food, take a zumba class, socialize with a lot of others students, and much more all while raising money for charity. Â I am really enjoying my sophomore year at Augie! :)Â

New Beginnings
After spending my first week here at Augie I can honestly say that I am glad to be back. Â I am taking two classes for my major, Psych States and Adolescent Development, and already learning a lot. Â I am also enjoying my new residence hall Erickson (and the air conditioning :P) I'm sure things will only continue to get better from here!
As her first year draws to a close, Emilie talks about declaring a psychology major, adding to her extra-curricular activities and what she'll be up to this summer.
Activation & Easter Break
After a nice Easter break with my family, I am headed back to Augustana later today. Â Now that things in my life have calmed down a little, I am so exited to announce that I am official an active member of the sorority Zeta Phi Kappa. Â These girls are amazing and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Â

It's Official!
It's official, I am now a psychology major. So excited to have finally declared! Next year fall term I get to start taking psych classes. Even though I have been quite busy lately, the work is starting to pay off! #excited #psychology #augieÂ
Spring Break!
Winter term has concluded and spring break is finally here! Tomorrow I am headed to Florida! After an exciting- yet slightly stressful- winter term, I am looking forward to starting my new classes in March!Â
Informal Rush!
Informal rush for Augustana Greek Life concluded today and it was a blast! I got to meet so many great girls this weekend and I am excited for the rest of this process. All of the groups have so much to offer. It was really fun getting to know everyone. Hopefully the next step is formal rush.. Fingers crossed!Â
Winter Term: Round Two!
After a relaxing break and great Christmas and New Year I am excited to get back to school! I'm looking forward to resuming with my classes and choir. Â Also, Greek rush is right around the corner! The next few weeks are going to be a lot of fun!Â

Chipotle for a Cause
Tonight I enjoyed some great food from Chipotle in support of the fundraiser for Camp Kesem, a service organization that helps children of parents with cancer. Â Keep up the great work Augie!

Winter Term Initiated...
After a long and relaxing fall break, I got to begin all of my new classes yesterday. This term I am exploring my artistic side and I am taking Intro to Theater and piano lessons! In addition I also started Spanish 202 and LSFY 202. Â My LSFY class is called From India to China and we will be discussing three religions practiced in India and China. Â We are even planning on going on a field trip to a Hindu temple. I am so excited!! Winter term is off to an amazing start.Â
Fall Term Recap!
Looking back at my first term at Augustana, I had a really great time. Â My classes were interesting and academically challenging! Â I found that Augustana has so much to offer on campus when you need a study break in the form of events offered by the Office of Student Life. Â I got to see movies such as Despicable Me 2 and White House Down, and watch a performance by the comedic troupe Second City and more, all for free!
I also really grew to enjoy my residence building Andreen Hall. Â Andreen houses about 200 students, and some of them are international students from different countries! It was great to meet and live with a lot of new people. At Halloween, Andreen Hall holds the "Hallowdreen" trick or treating event for children. All of the floors entered a competition to see who could decorate their floor the best. Â My floor (Third floor, East Wing) created the fairy tale/enchanted forest theme. We used real tree branches taped to the walls to make the hallway look like a real forest!
Andreen Hall Council also hosted our very own Gatsby Party, where we all dressed up in our formal 1920's inspired attire and attended a party in the lounge where there was live jazz music!
At the end of the term, on my way up the stairs to Andreen, I noticed a bunch of pink lawn flamingos in front of the building! It was really funny and definitely cheered me up during finals week. Â I later discovered that the flamingos were part of a charity for the JETS 2014 Medical Service Learning Program , a service organization on campus, and someone in the building had been "flocked" by flamingos.Â
I was giving myself a little time before I joined any activities to get a lay of the land, I have now joined the Cantilena Women's Choir and will be preforming in the Christmas at Augustana Concert. Â I am also looking forward to participating in rushing for Greek Life. I'm really looking forward to all of the fun things coming next term and in the future!Â
Emilie Brazinski is from Plainfield, Ill., and came to Augustana alongside twin brother Michael. She is interested in joining a sorority, enjoys attending student life events and wants to major in psychology.
