The story of the whales... Repost @maekld, fourth element-sponsored OWUSS scholar And here they are. Mum and Baby hanging out with us in Magdalena Bay. . The story of these Whales is so humbling. Their culture of using these waters as a breeding ground and reaching out to humans for interaction was tarnished by heavy Whaling, almost reaching the point of extinction. It caused the Whales to turn aggressive. They would attack boats instead of pushing up their calves for people to touch and pat. . But now. They have seemed to have forgiven us. I am so grateful for these gorgeous, magnificent, and slightly lumpy whales for forgiving our species, as now we can reconnect back to that old culture of interacting with another species. I don't know why they let us pat them, why the mother lifts her baby out of the water towards our hands. But for now, I'll just revel in the fact that they do and I got to experience this unbelievably gentle creature. #fourthelement #equipmentforadventure #owuss #whales #magdelena #mumandbaby #protectwhatyoulove
