Mr. Edward Hyde

Re-draw of one of my first TGS drawings! The original was made in July of 2020.

I’m a few weeks late to the end of the comic (finals kept me way to busy to make anything for it sooner), but TGS has been such a huge inspiration for me and it single-handedly got me into Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! I feel lucky that I was able to follow the comic for as many years as I did, I always looked forward to new pages on Mondays. Thank you Sage for creating something so special <3

I don't think my opinion is necessarily unpopular but just less talked about, but I feel like Sibyl's character (and especially death) was supposed to be a satirical take on how in many fictional stories female characters die in order to advance the plot of the male protagonist (in this case, Dorian Gray). They're usually naive, shy, young girls who are hopelessly romantic with the protagonist. Hell we barely got to know her that much all she was known for was "the poor actress who fell in love with a young rich aristocrat" and add that to the fact The Picture of Dorian Gray is a satire and critique of Victorian Society I can't help but think Oscar Wilde might have critiqued/mocked the disposable female love interest and how stupid it is, especially with how Oscar was a proto-femminst and advocated for women's rights and challenged gender norms. Orrrrrr I just see it like that lol.
